- Thank you all for the support over the past few weeks! It has been an amazing journey watching this community grow, and I hope to continue to bring some entertainment!
All 37 Terraria NPCs were ranked and given their chance to defend me in a court of law!

The angler hopes you die in some quest dialouges. He'd get you into jail because it'll be funny to him.
Only reason he would help you is so you can catch more fish for him. So you better be doing your daily quests or else.
yea but it depends on how many "workers" he has, if you are the only one he might try to keep you around and you cant do that while in jail. or yk he might just say but it would be funny.
Not to mention, he (and Princess) are literally children and while I'm not *100%* sure on this, buuut I'm pretty sure a child can't be a lawyer.

Bro I am UPSET with some of your rankings! This is ridiculous! Angler should be at F TIER, Judge wouldn't even ALLOW a CHILD to represent you legally. Also the steampunker should be as high as the MECHANIC, they're both just as smart!! I'd honestly place the GOLFER way above the LITERAL MUSHROOM MAN, earnest adults who aren't insane or have serious behavioral issues should AT LEAST be at C tier. 1/10 awful tier list, you should be ashamed.

I think angler and zoologist should be in E. Angler is a child and the Zoologist has more empathy than the dye trader and less bombs than the demolishionist so she is probably comparable to the dye trader's effectiveness. I agree with the Dryad's placement. Also, she may be able to get off the hook from her clothing situation for the following 4 reasons:
1: She technically isn't human
2: It is part of her culture.
3: It seems to magically always cover her private parts and such (Which she may or may not even have in the first place being a non-human)
4: She can possibly enter a less humanlike plant form maybe?
I think the arms dealer is actually c tier because he is clearly a criminal who has not been caught, giving him some credence of ability to keep people out of jail. Also he probably wouldn't pull out a gun in court because he isn't stupid and knows he can't gun a whole court down (It's a lot of people). Only risk is if the judge recognizes him. Old man is F tier but not because he doesn't care about you. It's more because he is bound to the dungeon and literally cannot walk to the court room. Other placements are good. Also reconsidering the zoologist, she may be distracted a similar amount as the party girl would. E tier may still be a viable placement though as many cases involve animals which would make her slightly less distracted.

Just to clarify for people who haven't really played terraria, yes, 55 hours is barely any playtime in terraria. I have over 90 hours on a character I haven't even done Moonlord with

I think the goblin tinkerer would give an S tier sounding argument, but its full of tiny misunderstandings of the law that bring it to more of a B tier argument, and he also charges you absurd prices

Medic walks in on a gas leak:

Leaves.
Demo: The place would be a fucking WRECK, there is no way that man knows anything about running a hotel. Probably several health code violations as well. He'd probably share his leftovers with you, god help you if you get something from the back of his fridge. Some people might find that he's not in F tier strange given the hotel is trashed and barely in operation, but once you see the other options, you'll see. Gonna go with D tier.
Soldier: Upon being told to take people to the homes of stars, he takes those people to a FIELD where a bunch of soldiers died. I bet he would set up tents and advertise it as a "hotel". If you wanna eat 100 year old military rations, this ones for you. Not really even a hotel, or decent living situation at all, even the rat infested demo hotel is probably better. F tier, the F stands for F'merica.
Heavy: We can already see him and his family create a relatively homely environment in the comics, I bet he could run a modest hotel in the Serbian mountains, some sort of very small scale one at least. Provides the 5~ people staying there a nice hearty meal of bear and veggies. Do NOT mess with the hotel staff in any way, it won't end up well. I think despite being super small and in the frozen mountains with only basic accommodations, it's still very nicely taken care of, easy B tier experience.
Medic: As a medic the place would be really sterile and clean at the very least and hey look at that there's always a medic on site. Probably well organized too, and designed to fit as many people as possible. One small problem is that it would have very plain and boring to look at hospital aesthetic likely. Only REALLY big problem is he would experiment on some people in their sleep, but I think medic could keep that under wraps so that it's merely a rumor. Not entirely sure what food he would offer, but I bet no one can tell what it is either, and I sure as hell wouldn't trust it. IN spite of all it's horrible grotesque flaws, it's still gonna be a really well managed large scale hotel, B tier.
Scout: Scout's "hotels" would probably be something more of an impromptu living situation you'd get from couch surfing. I'd imagine he'd force like 10 people in the same house for a "hotel". He'd probably live in it himself too. You can dive on in to the pantry stocked with Cheetos and Fruitloops and all the healthy things your body needs. Overall a livable experience, even if unprofessional and suboptimal. Might even be super cheap. C tier.
Spy: This man has an impeccable sense of style and could likely manage MANSIONS let alone a hotel. I'd like to think it'd probably be a hotel for mercs to hide in and lay low for awhile, with various arms and defenses provided as an option for patrons. Probably provides some nice French cuisine. Only downside is the price but still, probably the best run hotel out of any merc so far. I would have to either be an idiot or hate the French to not put him in S tier.
Pyro: It would be painted all over in bright colors and plastic candy props like it's some sort of Willy Wonka tour, mixed with hidden guts and gore of course for the extra sprinkles on top of the already unnerving cake that is his Disneyland type hotel he'd call "Pyroland". Good luck trying to ignore the smell of gasoline that's been left around. You'd probably be served a severed head with a gas can on the side. I'd give it a week till the whole place combusts. F tier.
Sniper: I think he'd most likely manage a trailer park rather than a hotel. Likely in some sort of humid outback too, but other than that and the extreme price I feel it wouldn't be too bad. He'd probably hunt kangaroos for a cookout he'd be the host of. C tier.
Engineer: I have a strong feeling he would run a motel rather than a hotel and I don't really know why. It'd probably have really high quality luxuries with stuff like an automatic back massager. I bet his staff would be 100% robots too, with some teleporters built in to speed stuff up like delivering food to people's rooms. One problem/benefit would be his security which would be automatic turrets, so make sure to wear the the ID badges when you leave/enter your room. I can't really decide what he would serve, something Texan I guess? Grill up some burgers? Regardless it's an easy A tier.

the arms dealer certainly knows how to keep at least themselves out of the slammer, so they can definitely give you some opsec advice (both to not make things worse for yourself and how to prevent further run ins with the law) they probably also have some contacts who could pull some strings in your favor, as well as get you a good lawyer (better than them at least) and even if none of that works out and you end up in jail, they could just call up a bunch of muscle to break you out
in short the arms dealer is going to get you out of trouble, one way or the other

Imagine terraria mod where after killing the guide using voodoo doll the wall of flesh is a judge and the prosecution starts, where you have to defend your case (and you can choose 1 other npc to be your lawyer to help you)

Guide definitely depends on the crime and if you did it or not imo. I feel like he’d tell the judge you’re guilty if you committed like, tax fraud or burglary. He seems like a stickler for the rules, and wouldn’t care what your relationship is.
That said, if ur innocent? Yeah he’s got you for sure
Angler will show up, then deliberately say that something reminds him of when you committed a crime. Then he'll make the judges do a fishing quest knowing you'll sneak off, before he says to the judges you escaped. He'll then let you free of jail after telling them all about the crime you committed, keeping them distracted with the fishing quests. Then he's going to force you to do some quests and that'll be your prison replacement. Then he'll get you in jail.
Thank god for the guide i needed this. i managed to get out 7 death sentenced for genocide on all life of terraria

Also you need to make sure the trial isn’t at night or the Guns Dealer also will come in with ILLEGAL gun parts that are too illegal to even attempt to sell during the day. So not only would you definitely be going to prison but so would he.
so, a case against your princess placement, the fisher the party girl and the princess are all children, therefore they can not practice law and should not be included in a tierlist based on how well they would practice law. Your honour, I rest my case
The Party Girl is not shown to be a child, since she doesn't share the "[NPC] has left!" message when dropping to 0 HP. The Princess and Angler are the only NPCs that do that, because they are underage. Other than that, yes the Angler and Princess should NOT be lawyers because they're kids.
I am gonna give these kids their chance at being my defense attorney!
Party girl isn’t a child
As the other two already said, the party girl isn’t a child. The two things that mark an NPC as a child are their height (shorter than other NPCs) and their death message being changed to “ has left!”
Imagine a tier list of your tier lists (maybe as a 10k sub special?)

i would trust the angler the most because if i was in jail, who else would be his "errand monkey" as he calls it?

There are plenty out there but I am glad you enjoyed the list!
i would trust more of these people as expert witnesses. for example: the arms dealer or demolitionist would be able to know more about firearms or explosives respectively. i'd say that demo dwarf would be able to smell an explosion a few weeks after it happened, maybe down to the exact type of explosive, and arms dealer would be a huge use in knowing what weaponry is legal or not, considering he sells both types of guns on the legal spectrum.
not to mention the nurse and the witch doctor would make an excellent forensic detective, while the dryad would be great at identifying paranormal activity. it also seems, at least in terraria, the dryad's and witch doctor's clothing is considered enough, (although wich doctor may be asked to put on a shirt) but if she was asked, she would get herself a professional looking jumpsuit made out of living vines.
the mechanic, the goblin tinkerer, the cyborg, and steam punker (you know, the steam punker who made the mech bosses?) would most definitely be able to testify relating to machine accidents, where their information might tip the balance from "gross negligence" to "please get better production lines" or even "user error"
the guide is the only one i would trust as a lawyer, due to the whole "blessed with near infinite knowledge about the world and how it works" it is said that he gives off an unsettling vibe, which could offput your prosecutors. however, he is not able to know everything, considering how the guides do not remember dying, or what happened to the hair stylist when she accidentaly found a spider cave..
when it comes to the zoologist, well she is a zoologist, so she would be able to see how my pets react to me and others, and say what is going on with them
The demolitionist would be a great workplace injury lawyer (not)
