I agree, this is an iconic song for that, and it takes me back to my childhood when I was just forming music interests and remembering melodies! So glad it inspired this memory for you! Thanks very much for listening and commenting.
Brilliant performance my friend ! I can easily imagine, as you say, that this arrangement was very difficult to juggle between melody and counter-melody. Very clever to apply the pizzicato strings to the Upper melody. Jon, you can be proud of the result, it's magnificent, and completely consistent with Percy Faith's original. Bravissimo, Maestro !
My friend, thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed! With your sterling reputation as an orchestrator, I always look forward to your comments! I'm glad it turned out after the embarrassing amount of edits and takes that were necessary to be as true as possible to Percy Faith's version. As several have noted, Roland strings are the best, aided by the enormous ability to mix and match to explore every nuance. Yay!
Thanks very much - I’m so grateful for you listening and commenting! This great instrument helps anyone sound great. Glad you enjoyed, and thank you for subscribing!
Thanks so much! I really appreciate your comments. The Atelier really is special, and it sounds like you may know from your own experience with this "King of Instruments." I can travel and perform with others on the Genos (which can do many of the Atelier features), but you really need the two keyboards, pedals and foot switches to render more complicated arrangements. Thanks so much for listening, and if you are interested, I invite you to sample other postings on my channel.
Glad you enjoyed! Yes, it’s been a favorite of mine for some time, although a frustration to try and come up with a worthy recording! Jean, thanks so much for being a loyal and supportive listener.
If you haven’t already seen my song notes in the description, you might enjoy reading about the history. The movie came out in late 1959, along with the song. Mantovani probably did a recording, but Percy Faith’s is the well-known version.
An absolutely superb rendition. The Roland strings are still arguably the best around but the way you blended all those beautiful sounds was breathtaking. Percy Faith would have been proud. Thank you and well done.😊 Norman.
Norman, you know your strings! Yes, it is hard to beat the Roland strings, as the basic voices are so incredibly realistic plus there are so many ways to mix and match. Thank you SO much for listening and for your very kind comments - you absolutely made my day!
@@JonStafford9 I wish I had the skill to make my AT800 sound as good! (Nothing wrong with the organ, just a player who wished he'd started 50 years earlier!)
Well, you are ahead of many because you have an incredible instrument to work with. It has a lot of tricks up its sleeve to help you, so best of luck in finding and learning all of them. It is a worthy pursuit with great rewards! Again, thanks for listening, and best of luck to you!
Thanks and thanks for listening! My goal was to replicate the Percy Faith sound as much as possible. If you are interested, I have more at @jonstafford.
What an amazing and beautiful performance at your wonderful big Roland Atelier Organ, Jon = fantastic work from you 👍👏😊. This composition is one of my all time favorite, too and I play this song at my YT channel back in time, too. I hope you're well and now best wishes from me in north germany 🇩🇪 to you in the USA 🇺🇸. Dietmar 🙋♂️🐶🍀🎹🎼🎵🇺🇦🇪🇺
Dietmar, you are such a reliable follower - I thank you so much for listening, and am so glad you like it! There are a lot of versions out there and my goal was to get as close as possible to the original. Have a great day in north Germany!
It's also one of my favorites since I was a kid (Percy Faith's arrangement is just my age). Surprising sound similar to the real orchestra. From Mexico, my congratulations Join for the achievement.
This has been a lasting favorite of mine as well. When the piano/flute combo starts at the beginning, my body just starts relaxing. It just keeps going and layering when the string bass comes in, and then when the high strings start that wonderfully simple melody. So glad it sounded like the real thing for you! When I’m coming up with the registration, I spend a lot of time listening to each phrase and then use the magic of the Atelier to try to most closely imitate or complement the recording. Thank you SO much for your kind thoughts and for listening to my recording. Greetings to you in Mexico from Seattle!
Thanks so much; glad you enjoyed! Romantic 6/8 throughout. Thanks for the reminder; I'll add that to the description. I need to spend the time to start showing the detail of registrations when they change!
And I am back to my high school days... With my favorite BFF spinning easy listening songs at DZWR- FM... Such sweet memories

Brilliant!! The Genos sounds good but you have the skill to get the most out of this, the King of instruments!

' i recall/remember that place. but was very young at the time and me memories seem to fade...'
Right, I was 4 years old! But the song continued to be one of Percy Faith’s biggest hits throughout his career.
Perfect, just absolutely perfect.
Thanks SO much - so glad you enjoyed!
Fantastic👌
