I can see the great benefit for small scale projects - residential and the like.
We have had issues with our project file size when adding too many 3D details - some teamwork files get close to 4GB (shopping centre). So we now just make one typical detail in 3D and the repetition of the detail will be simpler 'surface' model only. And at times we've had to remove some of the details completely to reduce the complexity of the model so we can actually work with the file.
This was with AC16. We are now on AC18 so we hope it can handle the more complex files.

I agree. I worked on a project in DC. Duke Ellington Performing Arts Center. The firm there "really" tried to use 3D as much as they could.
the Teamwork model size was 130GB...yeah...something like that. it was unmanagable.
Again, you are correct, for small projects, perhaps. when you start to get into 'custom' residential and commercial custom......not so much but the concept and positive design intent is there in that making the 3D do as much as you can is definitely what we should all try to achieve.

OK - but with all the extra detailing in the 3D world, which is all very wonderful - but it means having to charge for the extra work - or, lose out in fees for service?
