    In defence of “scout titans”: when you can peak over the horizon and have the best scanners, radars, telescopes, etc. around it really doesn’t matter that you’re big as a building. Especially when you’re relatively fast.

    • @thejestor9378
      @thejestor9378 День назад +3

      Relatively?? They are stupidly fast for their size. On tabletop they have a base movement of 14”, and auto advanced 8”, for a max speed of 22”, which is faster than aircraft in hover mode. Your big bot is faster than tanks and armigers.

      @@averageeughenjoyer6429 True but you might still give a way the location of an unsupported Emperor class titan and it takes a while for it to get anywhere. A Shadowsword is definitely faster than an Emperor class and you send in ten of those and they can bring it down. (Of course with the imperium both the specs and Shadowswords are a question of availability.) Plus an emperor class is so big taking it out with an astartes kill team might be the most cost effective and they might catch up to it on foot.

    Tbf, I've heard that things like tanks don't necessarily have the morale-boosting effect on your allies that you might want them to, because it can make troops think they're not as necessary, and that they should be more careful while allowing the tank to do more of the job and get more of the enemy attention. So I could see titans having a similar performance-dampening effect in 40k. Granted, people in 40k are probably braver, and more emotionally invested in their nation than most real life soldiers are, so maybe they would see titans as inspirational rather than as an excuse to lay low.
