    I had spear pull in my Phoenix last year, it’s now recovered.

    Small butia here rot like crazy. -6C but ice is the culprit

    I find it very unpleasant to intervene in the garden at this time!
    For the moment no last minute intervention because everything was put in place in due time, because I hate surprises. As a result, I'm just waiting for spring and for winter to end!

    I’ve always got mixed feelings about the snow - nightmare for the tropical garden but good fun for the kids (and parents!). We’re due 2-3 inches tomorrow

    Gutted with jubutia spearpulling. I would def cover it now for remaining part of winter...

      yes I was disappointed this afternoon when I found out. Shows that they can be damaged even without extended cold periods

      Know the feeling kris. Lost my midsized butia last winter.😢
      A lower offshoot seems to have pulled through though...
