I live in southern Japan and I can tell you these earthquakes are scary, it's hard to even stand up when a big one hits. I have no idea how buildings don't collapse more often.
You can practice all you want, but i have lived thru these events here in Japan, and they are quite scary. You feel so powerless against nature and nothing can prepare you for the power and danger of these events as they can strike sometimes without warning, especially the earthquakes.
It should be mandatory in the UK (anywhere) for school leavers to undertake 1st aid and fire fighting training. Some of the best lessons they will ever receive. Companies/universities should be made to provide refresher training periodically. We were getting 20 plus aftershocks a day of +5 magnitude around Sendai afterwards.

yup , I was welding at the time ,,,in the beginning of the shake I thought it was my technique ,,,,then it hit hard ,,,the old car was bouncing around a bit !!
isnt there a warning when ones about to hit?? or im guessing that earthquakes cant be predicted yet? i thought there was an ancient invention that predicted earth quakes?
@@antwango Some quakes send out a little initial shockwave first that can be detected to give you only a small window (seconds) of warning of whats about to come
@@antwango You can install an earthquake warning app on your phone or your desktop. For the latter, an ominous-sounding female robot voice counts backwards to when you'll start to feel the shaking in your location. It's scary. There's also a warning system in Mexico, and in cities, there are special sirens that sound beforehand. Of course these warnings only occur seconds before the quake will occur.
When in a house with a fire, never open a door with the palm of your hand(as Guy does). If the doorknob is hot the palm of your hand will burn and you will for ever have a hand that is stuck in the position of grabbing a doorknob. Test the doorknob first with the back of your hand.
The extinguisher part was actually a very poor training. When extinguishing a fire, stay low(he did that) and circle the fire. Because if you just blast one side, your not gonna get everything extinguished. Ofc he can't circle it, but that means it is just a shitty part of the course.
How do you circle a 2 dimensional fire? The course includes technique training which does tell you, you may need to move around the fire. This part of the course is more to do with the actual function of a fire extinguisher itself. Most people have never used one at all and rather than circling the fire being the problem, actually operating the extinguisher is.
@@bremCZ i know, as I said in the reply. He can't because it's a screen. Still you can like move side to side and thus angle. Though I guess using an extinguisher at least once is better than never. That does not really take much more time and increases odds of actually successfully exthinghuising a fire. Ofc it is not always possible to circle but at least instruct it.
@@bla5102 I would guess that most fires indoors are going to be up against a wall (or inside a wall, or ceiling), or an appliance, or piece of furniture - not out in the middle of the room, on the floor. If so, you won't be able to circle around the fire.
