Ngayon, nais kong magbigay ng malinaw na pahayag tungkol sa kontrobersya sa Paris 2024 Olympics. Naninindigan ako na si Imane Khelif, na may XY chromosomes at mataas na testosterone levels, ay hindi dapat makipagkompetensya laban sa mga babaeng atleta tulad ni Angela Carini. Ito ay hindi patas at nagbibigay ng biological advantage kay Khelif, na itinuturing siyang lalaki sa aspetong pisikal.
Bilang mga Katoliko, tayo ay naniniwala sa katarungan at pantay na oportunidad para sa lahat. Mahalaga na ang mga patakaran sa sports ay makatarungan at pantay-pantay upang mapanatili ang integridad ng kompetisyon.
Gusto ko lang linawin ang isyu tungkol kay Imane Khelif at ang paggamit ng tamang termino. Habang ginagamit ko ang terminong “transgender” dati, nais kong itama ito ayon sa mga facts, siyensiya, at mga turo ng Simbahang Katolika.
Bakit Itinuturing na Biological Male si Imane Khelif?
1. Biological Facts:
• Si Imane Khelif ay may XY chromosomes at mataas na antas ng testosterone, mga katangian na karaniwang makikita sa mga biological male. Dahil dito, siya ay na-disqualify sa 2023 Women’s World Boxing Championships dahil sa pisikal na advantage na dulot nito laban sa mga babaeng atleta.
2. Science:
• Ang pagkakaroon ng XY chromosomes at mataas na testosterone levels ay nagbibigay ng significant physical advantages tulad ng mas malaking muscle mass at lakas, na hindi patas sa women’s sports.
3. Catholic Teachings:
• Ayon sa Simbahang Katolika, ang Diyos ay lumikha ng tao bilang lalaki at babae. Ang pagkakaiba ng kasarian ay bahagi ng plano ng Diyos at may natatanging papel at layunin ang bawat isa.
• Genesis 1:27: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
• Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 369): “Man and woman have been created, which is to say, willed by God… ‘Being man’ or ‘being woman’ is a reality which is good and willed by God: man and woman possess an inalienable dignity which comes to them immediately from God their Creator.”
Sa pag-intindi ng mga ito, mas mainam na ituring si Imane Khelif bilang isang biological male batay sa kanyang mga katangiang pisikal at biological. Bagaman kinikilala natin ang kanyang gender identity bilang babae, mahalaga ang mga biological na katangian upang mapanatili ang fairness sa sports.
The standard of woman vs. transgender woman posed by the IOC is false, unfair, and may give precedence for this to propagate further in the future. Let us pray for the IOC for change.

Hello adrian. Fact check lang please. Yung Algerian boxer si Khelif ay intersex daw hindi biological man. Meaning may both male and female:
Intersex is a general term used for a variety of situations in which a person is born with reproductive or sexual anatomy that doesn't fit the boxes of “female” or “male.” Sometimes doctors do surgeries on intersex babies and children to make their bodies fit binary ideas of “male” or “female”.
Siguro mas dominant yung sa male nya kaya di sya pumasa sa previous tests. Pero eto sabi sa article na nabasa ko:
"The Algerian boxer was born female, was registered female, lived her life as a female, boxed as a female, has a female passport," IOC spokesperson Mark Adams said on Friday.

This is wrong but the truth is not much better. The person is not transgender but born with an X and Y chromosome. At least what I’ve read about her says that. She has female organs and grew up as a girl. However she is different from us females since we don’t have the Y chromosome and she therefore produces more testosterone. There needs to be a special category for these individuals

@BroAdrianMilag Imane is not transgender. Imane is from Algeria. A highly religious Muslim country where transgender is illegal. She has not taken any drugs. Algeria would not let her in the Olympics if she was transgender.
Why do we celebrate other athletes with a genetic differences like michael phelps who has an unaturak lung capacity, or usain bolt for his tall physique. Or even any athletes playing basketball or volleyball who are naturally taller. - or countries with a taller average height. They're all natural physical advantages that make them excel at their sport.
Not only that, imane has lost to boxing matches with WOMEN before.
This issue feels really sexist. Why do women have to suffer because they were born with a genetic condition that helps them excel in sport. A condition that she was born with and could occur to men too. I wish people would just sit down and think about the double standards.

I’ve also read that she has female organs. As u said maybe she could be like Michael Phelps and UsainBolt and therefore shouldn’t be punished. But if this person has at chromosome and more testosterone, I don’t see female breasts. Maybe they should have a separate category for such athletes. Special case talaga
