I don't have the NECA anymore, so I couldn't add more to the video once I realized I wanted to do more. I’m still favoring the NECA simply because I’d rather not waste money only to accidentally pop apart fragile ball joints and loose them, and I don’t like the way the teeth are painted on the Monster Arts one despite the NECA looking like a buck tooth with Creature from the Black Lagoon gills, yet I hope the dorsal fins on any of the NECA Godzilla releases will not easily rip off (excluding the 2014 one as it has more issues with mold growing on them than fragility).
I have to say my GMK neca is way better in terms of paint and mine doesnt have the mismatched jaw color. I personally love mine, but mine must be an outlier, because I own two and the other has this type of coloration issue, so I dont know. I'm pretty sure the neca version goes off of the close-up head in the film, wheras the Sh Monsterarts goes off of the actual suit for the overall scuplt. I could be wrong but when I look at my neca godzilla, and then look at certain parts in the movie (mainly the close-ups) the head sculpt seems fairly accurate. Again for the price point at the time I think neca did a solid job with most of their Godzilla releases.
It’s not like neca can try to be the better figure, because toho works mostly with Bandai and they don’t really expect to see neca be the better figure
Keep in mind NECA has been known in collector circles to be the best at Aliens, Predator, Pennywise, some TMNT, and other bits and bobs.... So why not Godzilla?

You could have mentioned some stuff about the Neca( like how heat gives more movement) and the MAs apparent over bite. but you don't have the figure any more so what you gonna do. Can't wait for the next one
+godzilla 154 It's not an in-depth review of both figures, it's a comparison of who does what better. Regardless of the heat, which never benefitted mine, and the overbite which the suit kinda had, they made no difference in the final count.
I was stupid enough as a kid to not get one of these or any neca and sh. I remember on Amazon they used to be $25. I was wanting one but never actually got it. Now the necas (the one I wanted being 1962 godzilla) is around 120-200 dollars, and the sh being about 300 to 400 dollars. Out of my budget by a while. Just got to remember to know better next time I guess. Stupid mistake on my part

On the sh monsterarts one the wrist on mine popped off. I did an "expirement" and I removed that bead like part of his wrist and that sorta fixed that problem. It may not look as good but it won't pop off as easily. Atleast on mine..

Steven's Toy Reviews boyyo if you give a win to that long faced short ass neca shin I'm gonna... well I'm not gonna do shit because I love your channel, however I will say the quality of the SHMA is better overall even though the consensus on the paint is that it's shit. Also the neca fell short, I see now why they don't segment their tails... they don't know how to. It looked pretty bad. The proportions were off too. It just doesn't look right imo but again my opinion. I just feel that even with the horrendous price and shitty QC it's still the better figure subjectively speaking. When you buy neca you buy a cheaper figure, not just in price but in quality.

I just picked up the SHMA GMK. Not a big fan of GMK but he was on sale and he was all I needed to finish catching up on the lines new sculpts and releases. It's a decent figure other then some of the normal QC issues with the SHMA line. One thing really noticeable on mine when the mouth is closed is the overbite.
hey steven, are you going to do an episode with multiple SLIGHTLY different figures? like, it may take a lil longer so I totally understand if you don't wanna, but I think it would be cool, for example, to see all the Links in your collection go head to head (or cap to cap)!

Spoilers multiple Heisei shma hmmmmmmmm. but in the case of the Links, that's such a hard one to call because the ones from GSC, there aren't any renewals. Each design they made is like a different item on the menu at MacDonald's, so how can you say the chicken sandwich beats the burger? But Burger King (world of nintendo) vs MacDonald's (figma)? That's something.

But as shown directly side by side, it has better sculpted details, paint application, and articulation. Each one of those things costs money. Down to brass tacks, the only thing the NECA has on it is the price.
It really depends on your desires as a collector. The NECA is alright, but it only evokes the characters image but does not actually pull it off accurately, a consistent problem with NECA Godzilla figures. As a collector, I want an articulated figure that is nearest to screen accurate as possible, and NECA just plain doesn't cut it.
+Sylen And that really doesn't matter. The NECA is cheaper because they use materials that are cheaper, resulting in rubber-like plastic for most of the body. You can *bend* the dorsal plates on it. The joints, though, those you can't trust. You're not throwing them around or smashing them together.
Monsterarts r way too overpriced, especially if u gonna collect multiple figures. unless the figure is ridiculously better than Neca (which they aren't), id choose Neca any day for its fair price.

The Monsterarts dorsal plates are painted this way to be CG accurate, I wouldn't consider this a flaw but alright
