If we're being honest tho, this isn't even just a Batman problem, this is just a superhero problem in general. Batman just gets the most flack for cuz his villains are more often than not irredeemable psychopaths.
yea Shōnen mangas stuffers from this too
That's sorta the point. If someone is irredeemably, then it's on you the "superhero" if you let them keep murdering. As a fellow viewer, it's not that I'm heartless, it's that I'm a pragmatist. Redeemable? Rehab or jail. Irredeemable? The chair.
This is why Blackman is an ahole, and a sociopath, imo.

I am guessing you have killed many criminals then.
In any case you are short sighted and he is too idealistic. If he were to go down that road when will he stop? He might as well take over the city and the country, remove all choices from the hands of corrupt and foolish people and take every important decision for everyone, basicaly tyrany. Which will work for a couple of generation however that will be a "utopia" made by force not because humanity matured which would give it very weak foundations and cause it to crumble after he perishes.

Honestly, I don’t find heroes not killing villains in most cases being the issue, but how the write always get the villains to escape the super maxed out prison like they’re leaving for their lecture.
Like, keep them in there for a bit of time, and then maybe there’s the mastermind which breaks them all out to form a team.
It’s just, when they’re always lose and killing people, I’m like ‘how has the government not ended them yet. They must have found a loop hole, and even if not, they can just hide it.
This! It's not the ideology. It's the writer ie god to the fictional characters that keep it going for the viewers entertainment.
They've done this multiple times
You know, I kind of agree with the part about they always escaping.
The hero itself should keep them locked

Imprisonment should almost always mean checkmate.
If you want your villain to stick around, don't write them into checkmate.
You can put them into check, ruin their plans or force them to retreat, but the moment you capture them they should no longer be a threat, or else the hero looks incompetent when they break out, and their 'righteous' morals no longer get through to the viewer.
I get what you're saying on each bit, but I disagree with the villain escaping making the hero look incompetent and their morals not worth listening to, that just doesn't make sense and definitely isn't how most children, and most people, would take it. Others doing wrong doesn't invalidate or take away the good from your actions and morals.
well said, rules imposed for the sake of story.
Plus it's usually not the Heroes running the jails and setting sentences. They just turn them in. It's the government's job to handle things from there and if they fuck up, that's not the heroes fault, it's the fault of the people whose job it's supposed to be to keep people safe. Not the dude who stepped up and did all heavy lifting.
Agreed.
I like how they handled this in A.T.O.M. series. They catch the big bad only in the end of a first season, mostly thwarting his plans before, send him to prison, AND HE STAYS THERE FOR AT LEAST A SEASON, while they're busy with the new big bad.

I was thinking about how heroes tend to make things worse when they're too merciful. Even the law says that you are allowed to reciprocate accordingly when met with lethal force. Villains come at heroes with lethal force all the time, but superheroes never reciprocate, which comes across as arrogant. The good Spider-Man giveth, and the good Spider-Man taketh away. I mean he could just take the "cripple them for life" approach. It's better then extrajudicial killing if you're worried about becoming a murdering vigilante, and if they can't heal from whatever injury you give them, then they might find escaping to be impossible without help. Even if a court decides the villain can't get charged because of what the Batman did to them, they would assumedly have the rest of a previous sentence to serve so... One less life sentences to add to the 14 others is just the price to pay to make sure they serve them in full I guess 🤷♂️
