It's amazing how one can fly a tactical mission using hand signals. Once again, you've hit it out of the park with this video. If you make it out to the Salton bombing range, a video of that flight would be the bomb, no pun intended. Go Navy!
Thank you, Pail, for everything you do, Including putting up with my comments and questions. IMO, you're the G.O.A.T in the world of pilot's and jet's. 🇺🇲♥️🇺🇲 Always #TeamPail Fly Navy 💫
SIR! Do I have your permission to watch again, Sir? Thank you Sir! This is better than a cup of coffee in the morning. I mean this is better than a cup of coffee and a donut in the morning. GOD BLESS YOU and Thank you!
Thank you Pail for another great video. What I appreciate about your channel/style/perspective, is that I think it provides a very real experience of what it would be like to be in one of those planes as a pilot. The sounds especially. Look forward to more content. Best!
I live in the UK but I spent many a Happy Hour in the late 90's at El Centro, a great place to watch Naval Aviation, especially when a Carrier Air Wing was working up.
Thanks again for the ride Pail it was Jamin ! I've learned so much from your perspective and instruction I'm almost ready to go on a run with you myself lol except that I might be 40 years to old to qualify.
Still loving your posts🤩 Fantastic that you can share a bit of your awesomeness with the common herd. Very cool no matter what you are flying. The ballsy Growler videos are still my favorites though. Sad you don't have you're ass in one of those still, but sharing knowledge and skills with the new pilots is super cool and rewarding I imagine. I think you've got quite a few Aussie Fans now 😎💪🏼❤
First reaction, as always...."Damn you're Good"....Loved the Kiss off! Could have gone a minute longer, heard velcro ripping and buckles clinking. Was cool seeing what holds ya in there, lol. Just what I needed after this day! Thank you again! Can't wait to see what's next. Living vicariously through you! I think we need a cold one. Lol. Cheers 🍻 Fly Navy!
Good ol El Centro..my artillery unit used to go and set up at the Chocolate Mountains the early 90’s. . I ran into El Centro to pick up some hot chow and bring it back for evening meal. I ate at the chow hall while there so I skipped the chow we brought back. Needless to say everyone got the shits later this night…the two Marines I was with managed to escape that calamity , we ate at the chow hall. 😅
Outstanding pics to be had standing on line only 300 feet from start of runway. If you have the nerve to stand under aircraft less than 200' above you. First time doing this, the Hornets look as if they are coming down on one's head! Not for the faint of heart folks.
Hi Mr. Pail (for lack of knowing your name!). Great video as always, thanks! Question: It sounds noisy in the cockpit, I assume your helmet reduces the sound intensity? Do you have any concerns about hearing loss however? Fly safe and stay away from the Salton Smell Sea!
Yes. It’s very loud. We wear earplugs and it makes the noise much quieter. Hearing loss is a thing in the community. One of the many prices we pay. VA benefits…
The ONLY thing I could suggest to improve the videos is if there could be some voice-over narration telling us what we're watching. Any sign of the Bkue Angels so far?
Hi Pail, I've been wondering what your rank is, LCDR I suspect. Of the many questions I have, is there a Hornet nearby that you can "stretch your legs" in? Thanks for the videos and your service.
You're probably going to get sick of all my questions, but it appears there is a Katana on the back of your flight helmet, was that the logo from a squadron you were assigned to?
When you are landing and taking off on a aircraft carrier there is a pile of traffic and ground crew directing you and all the other planes, do they train you first on land bases before you do it on a aircraft carrier?
Is there a video with explanations of the hand signals? Now, because I can't help myself - the buymeacoffee people need to update their auto-correct settings: "Nothing beets a nice cold one"? (technically beets is spelled right...) :)
Hi again Pail, the portion of the title of this video is Carrier Brake, I've wondered for a long time if the brake is a tradition, or is there a reason or advantage over a regular rectangle pattern? Thanks again, Rob.
The carrier break is the most effective way to recover a bunch of aircraft at the same time without any comms whatsoever. Check at my recovery video “pinky recovery”, where I hang out in the low holding stack until it is my turn to recover. All this takes place without comms. The break also saves a lot more gas than a stretched out rectangular pattern.
Hi Jams! Good to see you again in a new video always enjoy watching your flight hope to see you again with stunning video!
That is a beautiful break ! Loved it ❤️

Thanks for the exhilarating ride this morning sir. Awesome views. Landed there a few times in the C-141 back in the day...
Glad you enjoyed it!

very snappy. Of course the blue angels were watching in awe "who is that driver? we gotta talk to that guy"
Ha!
@@GrowlerJams He’s got a decent point. Curry favor and throw your name in the ring while you and them are both down there 😉
As always, thank you for another great adventure in the backseat! Phenomenal
So peaceful

It never gets old does it
Never.
Enjoyed! And sure looks like you did a double take at the red gear light :)
Gotta make sure! No gear up landings to date.
Great video. Nice and clear!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome view, thanks 🇺🇸
Amazing!! Really enjoyed your video...thank you 😀
Cheers!
Once again great stuff!!!!
Thank you. Cheers!
Grazie 🔝💗
Nice! Keep up the great work.
Cheers Growler ..enjoyed it mate .
Glad you liked it.
Nice vid! I thought you were gonna forget the landing gear there! Ha.
I have a friend who flew F-4Ms before transitioning to the AV8-B. He was air safety at one time. He eventually retired from FEDEX as a captain.

I read that a CO once said to his fledgling aviator - Why did you come into the break at 450 kts - Answer, that all I could get out of her
Turning left again! Take care!
Inspiring.

Landing on the ground.
Thank you for your wonderful video. I also want to study using F18 and T45 in a flight simulator.
Go for it!
Growler I know you are looking for a negative G pull on the Carrier Break and I’m looking forward to seeing it
Yuck!

3 wire for sure :)
Did you get to see the Blues do their thing for winter training? Sorry, I meant to add that comment into my one below.
Sure do. Stay tuned. You will see them in some of my upcoming videos.
👏🏻👏🏻🔥🔥
OK 3. 👍
CALL the Ball… Goshawk Ball 2.2
Nice 'yank and bank' cowboy.

what are the zigzaggy lines on the canopy for?
They blow the canopy in the event of an ejection.
I think I saw some blue & yellow F-18s on the ramp? Correct?
Sure did. They were getting ready to fly.
The ONLY thing I could suggest to improve the videos is if there could be some voice-over narration telling us what we're watching.
Any sign of the Bkue Angels so far?
Copy. Yeah, they are in the flight line as I said verily it. Check out the thumbnail. They are in that pic.
@@GrowlerJams 👍
Are you training students currently or are you still acclimating to the new assignment?
I’ve been training students for about 18 months now.
@@GrowlerJams awesome and thank you for your service
Hi Pail, I've been wondering what your rank is, LCDR I suspect. Of the many questions I have, is there a Hornet nearby that you can "stretch your legs" in? Thanks for the videos and your service.
Hi Rob. It's Lieutenant Commander. I wish there was. I'd love to stretch out in something fast.
You're probably going to get sick of all my questions, but it appears there is a Katana on the back of your flight helmet, was that the logo from a squadron you were assigned to?
Sure was. VAQ-136 is “the Gauntlets”.
Am year behind.

Case 1 and a short break..when do you fly the long break?..in 2 ship formation?
Only when you can't break at the numbers due to other aircraft in the pattern.
When you are landing and taking off on a aircraft carrier there is a pile of traffic and ground crew directing you and all the other planes, do they train you first on land bases before you do it on a aircraft carrier?
We watch RUclips videos. Seriously.
pail do a live stream
Is there a video with explanations of the hand signals?
Now, because I can't help myself - the buymeacoffee people need to update their auto-correct settings:
"Nothing beets a nice cold one"? (technically beets is spelled right...)
:)
You mean the “kiss off” or cleared to detach hand signal prior to the break?
@Growler Jams Yes. Mostly the "clenched fist" signal. I was able to make a good guess at the other one.
Clenched fist means “cross under” or switch sides of the formation. Cheers!
Did you see the Blue Angels there?
Yes. They are still in El Centro.
Professionally done at every instance; consistency is accuracy.cu Pb
Will you be doing any carrier traps in the future?
I want to, but I’m not sure if it’s an option for me. Rumor is that CQ is going away. I’m waiting on that decision to be made.
@@GrowlerJams If they do away with CQ's, how in the world will the up and coming pilots learn then?!
Unless my eyes deceive me, I'm seeing the addition of a " Little Bucket" on your helmet. Pranked or your own art work?😀
A “gift” from my Sailors a couple years ago.
@@GrowlerJams Slippery little suckers😂😂😂😂
“Pearl of the Desert” ….what the base? You have AC in that jet because in August that place is called “hell on earth”😂
I’m well aware.
