I'll be honest my first Sonic game was Sonic CD and i figured out how to do the spin dash on my own also I'm borned in the 2000 and i did read the manuals, Rayman 2 is the best example
The first Sonic game that makes you charge the spin dash by ducking and charging with the jump button is Sonic R, and before that, technically 3D Blast, but most people do not consider this to be truly 3D And if you count, Fighters did before those 2, but it plays like a 2D game
My first Sonic game was 3D Blast (the PC port) and my second was Mega Collection, and both of those had a dedicated spin dash button. Of course, the latter also had manuals that taught me how to properly spin dash, so my experience was a little different than anyone playing blind without a manual.

If Sonic the fighters isn't 3D then neither is Tekken
