Hi, you had asked for feedback re blocking off your Boondocking spot so other campers don't by park to close by or on your boondocking site.
Since you guys are brand new to Boondocking you should hold off doing that. Give it some time to see how it plays out. On your first Boondocking stop you had bad luck, but honestly that doesn't happen too often at all. Hasn't happened us at all when there is plenty of open space! Majority of campers are very mindful of space and where to stop.
It honestly is a little rude to block unless your saving a spot for another camper yet to arrive to your spot. Leave it be and go with the flow! Happy Camping!

Going to agree to disagree with you about blocking the road into the area. IF there are spots farther back that can't be accessed because you blocked it off, then you are in the wrong. And I believe you said there WERE some other sites farther in, so I think you're wrong in this instance. If the road is really into a single site, then blocking it fine. Just my humble opinion.
I have 1,320 watts of solar and six Battleborn batteries on my S- Class Solitude and have been able to go multiple days. Gray tanks are my only limiting factor.

    • @EnjoyTheJourneyLife
      @EnjoyTheJourneyLife  3 года назад

Thanks for your comments Lynd. It was not an access road, just a campsite with room for other campers. Anyone coming in would be within 30 feet of us....and that's too close.

@@EnjoyTheJourneyLife If you can't deal with others parking in the same area that is designed for multiple campers, than make some real decisions about what you are doing. Maybe move on to some desert spot where you live by yourself on your own little piece of land surrounded by no one.

I understand why you want seclusion, but because of politics and channels like yours, there are far more people out and looking for places to stay. We've been long term since late January in Florida, and we've seen first hand how many people are going permanent. As these numbers grow, site scrounging seems a somewhat selfish. Again, I totally understand it, but what do you expect when it's now being glorified as a lifestyle?

Though I agree with your sediments I would have to say blocking the road would fall under one of two categories. 1) it would be illegal to block the road if it’s an actual road under the Forest Service system. You could be ticketed or towed. 2) what right do you have of blocking the public from public land. That’s called being a jerk and driving Rangers crazy from complaints from the public who have to deal with individuals who treat public land as their own. It’s not your personal land. What your doing is violating public use regulations.

Welcome to boondocking! It is a wonderful way to enjoy nature.
Couple of pointers though so you do not piss off other boondockers. Do not block a road like that, even if it seems to be a side road. Many of those side roads are used by atv’s and there may be other sites farther in that other campers can get to. Sounds like you had a bad experience with your first time boondocking. Most people are respectful about it.
Do not run your generator after dark or early in the morning! Usually 8am to 8 pm or dark is a safe time. People want to enjoy nature and a generator ruins the quiet. The sound can travel a long distance when it is peaceful and quiet.
A signal booster is almost a must if you boondock a lot. Last summer it really helped us especially with a teenager. I know, they should enjoy nature! But, our sanity was saved!!!
Go out and have fun! Looks like you guys are really enjoying it! Boondocking is our preferred way to camp.

Tusayan is pronounced Too-see-on. :) I know it's sometimes difficult to pronounce some of the city / area names. I'm from Florida and I've lived in Texas, California (southern and northern), and I currently live in Phoenix, AZ. In California, sometimes you pronounce the word with English sounding vowels and sometimes with Spanish sounding vowels, same in Texas. In Florida, as in Arizona, not only do you have the Spanish/English vowel issues, you also have the Native American pronunciations to contend with. And you can go on for days with the differences in how vowels are pronounced in the various Native American languages/dialects.
And I know about the pain of the entrances being closed. We went up to Flagstaff in the fall of 2020 and drove about 1 hour to the Canyon just to discover that entrance was closed. So another 1 hour back to Flagstaff just to drive to the other entrance, an 1 1/2 away. So it took twice as long to get there! LOL
I love when you come to Arizona! I find out about so many places I didn't know about that I'd love to visit.

Nice spot! A little too close for us to the road but now we understand you require a signal at each stop to work. You asked and I will be as delicate as possible with my answer. Do NOT block the road Especially if there are additional sites beyond you or around you. That is just outright RUDE.
SAFETY FIRST, remember an emergency vehicle might have to come down that road. (It could be you who needs HELP).
If you don't want to be close to anyone, seek out another site further away. MOVE if anyone is too close to you.
Understand the closer you are to the a MAIN ROAD, the larger chance other people will be just as close as you. Think, WHY did you pick out this particular spot? Well, others may need the same requirements.
Many people want a fast "get out" of a spot close to the main road too.
Please please don't block that is NOT the polite way of doing Boondocking. It will give us BOONDOCKING RIGS A VERY BAD REPUTATION.

Check to see if your inverter has a standby mode where it will only use current when there is a draw. Even better turn it off and only use 12 volt circuits till you need the 120. Then turn it on, use the appliance and turn it off. That will triple your battery capacity even with no sunshine.

Definitely look into Lassen National Forrest and Lassen Volcanic Park. Northeastern California. It's gorgeous and so many beautiful lakes nearby. The closest towns are Chester and Susanville California. It's my backyard and although we are ready for a change of scenery we still love it.

I’m really hoping this video was shot weeks ago because all AZ national forests are in stage 1 fire restrictions meaning no wood burning fires. Our poor forests are so dry and our fire season started extra early this year 😭 Love love boondocking in Northern AZ ❤️

Tom, What forum do I go to on your channel to ask you a question about an item that I saw on your old rig? I just don't want to bore someone else with the question on this channel.

Have fun in Page. We stayed there a couple years ago. Like you said, lots to see around there. Also the four corners area isn't too far. If you can arrange to visit Antelope Canyon, that is great.

Wife and I stayed on FR328 for a week in Oct 2019. Incredible just as you've described. Actually happen to overlap Jason and Rae (Getaway Couple) and got to meet them boondocking in same spot. Hopefully see you guys on the road sometime. Love the content.
