Love this! Keep doing these types of videos please. That way I can jam with you and the people you find. I am a beginner on the bongos. My wife got me a set of LP matador bongos. I have Parkinson’s disease and she found out that drumming is therapeutic for my disease. So, let’s jam and groove together. I love your teaching and expertise. Looking forward to a long relationship. 👍. Thank you so much! Sterling
Love this, Kalani. I bumped into Tokyo Groove Jyoshi about six months ago. Great band and, as a student of the bass, particularly like the bass player. Great to see you crash such bands. Please do more.
Yes, pretty cool idea get it started. I came across the bass players video. She plays Tower Power with ease. Jamming along will help some players confidence levels. I'll be watching.
I love the format and if I had your skills I would do the same... looks like you've found a great way to enjoy your passion and increase your edu-tainment value... please keep crashing, and I will keep watching. 💯😎✌🏽
I discovered this band about 3 weeks ago and they do groove ‼️ I also have been doing the same thing for a while in regards to "sitting in" on other artists. You're doing the right thing, Kalani‼️⚱️⚱️😎👍🏼
One request: need your congas to be louder in the mix - we don’t want to miss anything so we can learn from you. We saw your hands but... It was great fun - what a groove! Thank you very much.
Great idea and a good track to add percussion to. Would there be any copyright issues if I did the same kind of thing and put videos on RUclips? Thanks for all your work and variety of tutorials and performances.
I think it all depends on the original music, how they post it to RUclips (monitized or not) and how the new video is similar or different from the original.
Nice! A couple years ago I ran across Tokyo Groove Jyoshi's cover of the Tower of Power song "What is Hip?" that uses shamisen and was hooked. Also love their version of Round Midnight. Thanks, and yes, 'Jammin' with the Tube' would be a good series of videos. :-) Pretty sure a lot of us at home are already playing along to our favorites - would be helpful to see your take. Maybe Patrons could suggest songs for you to play with...
Any copyright issues doing this? I really need to do more practicing with artists outside of my own kirtan band to bring in new rhythms so it's a great idea, for sure.
I was wondering about Copyright, but I think it depends on the owner and how they make the video available. If there is an issue, it will usually be handled by RUclips automatically, which is fine.
enjoying how you are able to separate from the drum beat, temporally. if you could tell us more about how that's done... are you off the beat a little during the measure?
Laying down some nice funky Conga here Bro! Love me some Tokyo Groove Jyoshi. Too bad they lost their mean and Funky bassist Juna Senta, although their new bassist has filled in just fine. Question for you, I notice that you play with a Quinto as your lead drum alot which is great in alot of genres, especially Funk.... Are you using a Tumba as your second drum here, and do you quite frequently use a Conga as your lead drum?
In this, I’m playing Quinto/Conga, mainly to avoid the lower-mid range and have my own sonic “space” where the congas are not clashing too much with the other instruments.

Great! Yes, we can jam with each other’s jams! Why not?
I love when *any* artist does a virtual sit-in with other bands. That's all I did when I was busking, put on other people's music and play along.
This is super funky and just what I needed today! Right on! More please!
Dude!...You fit right in!....Seamless!....great jam!
Always a pleasure watching and learning from your videos.
Thank you
Great idea. Love being able to see and hear you play and groove alongside their video! That’s what I want to do. Well done Kalani!!
I’m sure we’ve all been jamming with RUclips videos of all kinds. Adding your ideas just takes it to a different level. Keep it up!
That was awesome! Thank you.
Just superb! Absolutely love what you are doing! Really chilled funk...KEEP IT UP!!
I believe it is a great idea! I'm just a beginner, but this is exactly what I am working towards.

Always excellent format, always enjoy what U show! Please to keep it going!
Thank you. I appreciate the comment and support.
This makes me want to play

Has an almost Steele Dan flavor to it. Well done 👏
👏Bravo! Once again it was the percussion section that gave the beat and pulse to the ensemble. 👍 ♫ 😊
I'm sure many here have heard the old nugget: "A band consists a rhythm section and a couple of novelty acts.."
Very inspiring stuff, awesome playing 👍
Smooth 🎶

Thank you! Yes, why not make use of what is available. I always encourage my students to play with music.
Very funky and supercool. Just a suggestion: a breakdown of the groove or pattern that you were using.
Will do that for Patrons in the future. I’m basically playing a lot of hybrid-patterns and changing up a little for different sections

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great Job!
Great jam! I’d also love to hear how your congas would sound with something atmospheric and textural like the apprehension egine

Great Idea. I’m planning to do break downs and more in-depth lessons for Patrons.

Some of that is because I’m playing along and improvising. Some might be because I also reaching over to change camera views.
