I'm always in a time crunch when getting ready for the day, so having to wait for my armpits to dry (to avoid ruining my shirt and wasting money on buying new clothes) just isn't possible for me.
Funny Story My daughter went to Walmart Last Week and they had several freezers that they had to replace. Everything in each of those freezers was $1. She got seasoned vegetable mixes, vegetables, vegan pizzas, and Ice Cream variety packs. She brought home 40 packs of "things" for $40. Right Place, Right Time
I've been a buyer of house/store brand products for 50 years, which was when I worked for a food distributor and learned that most of them were/are made by major food manufacturers with no other changes besides the labeling. Walmart's spices are priced well, but be sure to check the Hispanic food aisle for Badia spices in little bags; you can refill your spice bottles for amazing prices. The very best deals on spices are ethnic stores. And, for anyone unsure of the safety of ethnic store foods, please remember that they must pass FDA regulations to be sold here in the US.

I just learned that Jimmy John’s sells there French bread loaves after they aren’t able to use it, usually after 4 hours of baking. This is perfect for French bread pizzas
My only comment on chicken is: Be aware! Some chicken has added carrageenan (used as a thickener - why???). My brother is allergic to it - and it turns out, it doesn't sit well with me or my mother, either. If he hadn't said anything about it, I wouldn't have realized that, but I realized that when we got the "store brand" chicken, I didn't feel good later. Yep. Carrageenan. It actually is known to cause digestive issues. Who knew? As for Lume? YES!!!! Been using it for several years now (SO sad they discontinued my fav, the "Warm Vanilla" scent). My new fav is the "Fresh Powder" scent. Some of the others are too strongly scented for me (I'm extremely sensitive to scents), but it is a great product!
Tip on the store brand, when a store notices a product is selling well, they sometimes will go to the manufacturer of the product and buy the EXACT same thing and put their own label on it. So the wheat thins are probably coming from the same factory. This is true to for some store brand items, look at the ingredients list to check!
Go to Walmart early in the morning and go to the meat apartment sometimes you’ll get yellow stickers I got 8 pounds of hamburger an individual one packages for $2.47 I just took home put them in the freezer where I got 8 pounds of meat for less than what the chubby chunks cost

My little boy loves the Trader Joe’s orange chicken. I started buying popcorn chicken in the frozen section and sometimes will toss it with that panda sauce and he loves it.
My husband is diabetic with many other health issues and also a stroke patient. So I try to buy things that are slower to digest. Like I buy chickpea pasta, sprouted whole grain bread, and low carb whole wheat wraps. We don't eat rice but we do eat cauliflower rice. Some things I can find at Aldi and some things at Walmart. Just wanted to share in case there are others out there that cannot eat certain foods. These are great ideas as well.
Just passed on chips at my local store because EVERY brand - even store - was over $4/bag! Will be stopping by a Walmart this next week for some GV brand ones. Thanks Christine!
Love your suggestions. I used to work at Walmart in almost every department including grocery. One hidden gem for me are the frozen mangos. I just eat them straight out of the freezer. They thaw really quickly and some pieces develope a taste similar to an orange dreamsicle. I probably would never have tried the great value had I not worked at Walmart. Especially with food prices rising by the minute, they do offer such a saving for exactly the same taste and performance.
At 5am, the first morning worker in the meat department goes around and marks down the meat that will expire that day or day in future. It’s a good time to get reduced meat that can still be frozen or fixed soon.

Just a little note on the walmart catering sandwiches. My sister and i just did a cousins reunion lunch and catered from Walmart. The sandwiches were nicely filled with meat and cheese, but are not dressed, which is probably good (so they don't get soggy) but was unexpected. Yes yes yes to bottled orange sauce (I usually find Kikoman, they're all good). But I simmer it with grated garlic and ginger, crushed red pepper, and scallions, to make it kind of spicy too, and serve it with spring rolls or as my sauce for cashew chicken
My son loves Nature Valley granola bars. The crunchy kind. I bought a box that i had a coupon for, and then also bought a box of Aldi's brand. There is almost a $2 price difference per box where i live. When i got home, i told him i wanted him to do a blind taste test. So he closed his eyes and i gave him one at a time. Without hesitation he told me which one he liked better, and it was the Aldi brand. I know this is a walmart video. And i know you don't have an Aldi. But for anyone reading this that is hesitant about store brands, sometimes they're even better!
I love the Great Value products in everything. I'm never disappointed. The frozen broccoli is my favorite frozen veg. Almost all florets. Chips are great, snack cakes, buns, cream cheese, shredded cheese......
I got super lucky and found the Family Size Cheerios the berry kind, at the dollar tree last week. We stocked up. Family size for $1.25 and name brand, crazy!
Could you do a video comparing frozen veggies and fruits to fresh prices? We recently bought frozen brocolli recently and it was way better than fresh, it lasts longer, and no prep. The only drawback is if the power goes out.

Back in the day, they used to sell 5ft subs at the Walmart Deli (you would have to order them in advance) and they would actually put them in these 5ft long packages. My family ended up ordering them for every party or even for vacation and just have that as our lunches and dinners for the whole time (after we cut them up of course). I loved those subs they were honestly delicious!
Walmart also has some great basic clothing deals! I love their Jean short and tank tops for the summer, I also use their long sleeves for under my scrubs for work. Often have cute tees too, especially during holidays
I love the Freshness Guaranteed Wheat Bolillo Rolls in the bakery. They make great sandwiches. The Great Value Strawberry Awake Breakfast Cereal is a dup of Special K Red and goes great with their brand of extra creamy oatmilk.
Store your fresh strawberries in a mason jar in fridge. It extends the life of your strawberries by at least 2 to 3 times longer than the packaging it comes in.
I hear you about the fresh berries going bad but I always soak my berries in apple cider vinegar and then I place a paper towel to line the bowl I put them in and voila! It's just me and my husband and the berries easily last us 4-5 days.
Would love to see more of your cooking videos! My family always loves what you recommend. Would specifically love a veggie video - because who isn't trying to eat more veggies?!? Ex: trying out a bunch of the Food Network Veggie recipes and telling us which ones you like (like you do with the Pioneer Woman recipes)
Sams also has a spicy chicken Filet made by members mark, in the freezer section, that is an AMAZING dupe of the spicy chicken sandwich at Chick fil a and the filets are like twice the size! Throw them on a bun and put the chicken sauce on there 🤌
Frozen white meat chicken tenders have gotten so expensive at Aldi... walmart has a full 2 lbs of breaded chicken tenders for 10 bucks. They are raw, not precooked, but in an air fryer they only take 12 to 13 min to cook. It's a great deal!
@@GlendaMixer-jz7vc I found a receipt from 2020 and prices have gone up a lot. I knew they had, but the found receipt confirmed it. Pasta sauce up 50%, bread up 30%, cookies up 80%, salad dressing has doubled, ground beef almost doubled... dairy and produce are still really reasonable, but where I used to buy 80% of my groceries there, I now can get the same price or cheaper at Walmart with Great Value. Since I have things I can only get at Walmart anyway, I just don't shop as much at Aldi. I get amazing deals at Kroger when they do sales on cheese, milk, and butter, so that cuts Aldi out many times as well.
If you’ve never tried the Walmart brand sweet relish it is awesome. It’s a nice big jar. It’s gone up in price but it’s great for hotdogs, deviled eggs, tuna, salad, chicken salad, potato salad, whatever you use relish for. I like sweet relish for my salads.
SW idaho here. Be sure and check the per ounce price. Several times I have had the price per ounce numbers be wrong at our walmarts So I have made a point to figure an average in my head. I don't rely on the shelf tags. They are also slow at correcting their tags. In the cereal isle for instance the box ounce size is wrong it may say the box is 18oz but the box say actually 15oz so now the per ounce looks cheaper then it really is
When my son was in high school band, I was in charge of feeding 85+ teenagers at marching contests and other performances. The Walmart deli catering sub sandwiches were my favorite go-to for the most food for the money and convenience! They always fed more than estimated, loads of meat on sandwiches, and they were always cut into individual serving sizes and on a nice tray. They also included a tray of the veggies and packets of condiments, so kids could add as they pleased.
I just recently discovered Great Value Ultra Thin Salty Pretzel Sticks. I am so hooked on these dang pretzels. I don't like thick pretzels and these are perfect for my taste.
You can cook frugally if you use the right seasonings.... makes all the difference in the world ... those expensive processed foods are full of salt and sugar.... so use herbs and spices seasonings and your taste-buds and pocketbook will thank you for it... along with kudos from your doctor!
I just discovered your channel and your videos are great! Not only do you show how to save but you explain why and you make comparisons. Thank you and keep the videos coming!
Cristine, do you have a budget video for teens or young adults? I have two young adults living at home, saving for launch (down payment on house, etc) I would like to talk to them about budgeting for life but not sure where to start. I really appreciate your budget videos!
Every once in a while, I crave a salty snack (I know, especially not good for a diabetic). I usually buy a bag of the lightly salted Lay's potato chips a couple of times a year. The last time, they were almost $5 for a bag! Last week, I noticed a GV brand of them ... wavy instead of regular, but the bag was nearly twice as big! And only $3.18! They taste good and the remainder of the bag is safely vacuum sealed in some jars.
I agree for the most part on store vs. name brand. Over the last 35ish years I’ve only ever found a few things that brand name makes a difference. May have to revisit more store brand items with the costs now. My meats are one compromise I won’t make. Thankfully my butcher shops are still trying to keep real meat in our diets, hooray for cattle country!
Walmart was my source to get a huge meat tray and a large cheese tray, sub rolls and chips as a thank you to a team at a local Tire Discounters who did an amazing job for me. They were delighted and felt appreciated and I fed some very hungry hard working guys who went above and beyond for me,
I remember when those Walmart seasonings were $.50 each. That was a long time ago though. Walmart’s also great to go early in the morning for their clearance meats. I stocked up on whole chickens about a month ago with each package being less than three dollars.
Cheerios has one of the highest glyphosphate residues. Farmers spray roundup on the crop so it all dies at the same time for harvest. Little debbie oatmeal cream pies were bad also.
That's lovely my hubs eats it every day of his life. However Christine doesn't believe there is a diff in organic and conventional food so there is that 😅 PS farmers spray glyphosate on ALL crops that is why everything is GMO now. It's modified so that the plant lives and the weeds die off from the roundup. This is why organic is the way to go, yes even organic cereal! No GMOs in organic food. You prob already know this but FFM doesn't.
@dianasimplifies definitely. I eliminated all gmo ingredients from our diet 15 years ago. It's a lot easier to find organic or non gmo verified now at least.
Years ago when I worked in a grocery store, if someone was buying only one fruit it would be bananas. 95% of the time! So I guess that still holds true.

The Great Value chili cheese corn chips are delicious. 1.97 vs Fritos at 4.38 is a big savings. I also buy the potato chips, they're very good. Must haves for me are the Perdue gluten free chicken tenders and the Red Lobster Cheddar Bay GF biscuits. The organic and gluten free items at Wally are much, much cheaper.
Did you know if you take a package to the post office that you have already printed the postage on, they give you a receipt for $0.00. And Fetch gives you 25 points for it!!
The difference in big box stores is shocking! I bought Cinnamon Toast Crunch today. It’s a penny cheaper per ounce for the name brand over great value!
I don't like the Festive ground turkey, it puts off a bunch of water. The Honeysuckle White cooks better. But I did buy and freeze 6 loaves of Italian bread on clearance for $1 for lunch sandwiches. Hubby said I was acting like you 😂

I'm "I remember when walmart spices were 50 cents" years old.
I love the ground turkey
I just discovered your channel and your videos are great! Not only do you show how to save but you explain why and you make comparisons. Thank you and keep the videos coming!
Thank you for your tips... Did you know cereal + has "Trisodium Phosphate " it's a cleaner +... just saying
Cristine, do you have a budget video for teens or young adults? I have two young adults living at home, saving for launch (down payment on house, etc) I would like to talk to them about budgeting for life but not sure where to start. I really appreciate your budget videos!
Would love this! My son is in high school and we are getting ready to work on budgets. I know I would learn a lot from it too ;)
You're already doing the thing that can save them the most money, letting them live at home.
True, but helping them learn budgeting and preparing them for the time when they are on their own is still beneficial.
Salted nuts or avocado are more diabetic-friendly options
@ninnymuggins5159 I keep plain unsalted nuts around. Not a fan of avocado.
Love you channel!!!! Thank you for all the 411 you give/share with us, have a great week!!
This is what should be taught in school- math class at Walmart real life here people!
8:28 Gilmore Girls references always make me happy. 😅
OMG LUME IS AMAZING!!
That was great. Thank you❤
Love lume !!!❤❤❤❤
I'm in Humboldt County California and Great Value Chips is 3.28 here. I wish I could get chips for 2 bucks.
Love their almond milk
We love Walmart catering! They are very generous with the meat and cheese. The fried chicken is delicious!!
Your videos are the best. So much valuable information.
In recent weeks, Albertson's has been offering their store brand cereals at $1 per box (12-15 oz) which is an excellent deal.
You never disappoint! Thanks for the Wally World tour!

I got the generic label pumpkin pie spice and it's yummy on my coffee❤
Yes I buy Great Value everything and find it’s nice quality and less expensive. Love the GV frozen Pizza 🍕❤ Love your ideas ❤
Bare chicken is the best!! Food Lion sells it if anyone has that store near.
I have been trying just like you and in 2 years i have lost 20 # with the starch solution but i have been working out at the y too! I'am 72 years old and have been wondering like you. Thankyou for the info. Sincerly

Yes! My husband is obsessed with the chicken bag! He wants it every time we go into Walmart because it's such a deal.
Very helpful, Christine! Thank you!
The difference in big box stores is shocking! I bought Cinnamon Toast Crunch today. It’s a penny cheaper per ounce for the name brand over great value!
Make sub sandwiches with the French bread. Will feed several or several days. Tastes better then the hoagie rolls.
I use the day old bakery french bread to make big oven baked sammies for me and the husband. So good!
Boy, they hired you hook, line, and sinker. Thank you Walmart!!!!
Been following for a couple years now…love you and love your humor!! Time for another video or challenge with your brother!!😊
Awesome video, thanks for sharing with us! 👍🏻🩷
I know, you don't drink coffee, but I always grab the big cannisters of GV coffee. It's decent and cheaper than many still.
I don't like the Festive ground turkey, it puts off a bunch of water. The Honeysuckle White cooks better. But I did buy and freeze 6 loaves of Italian bread on clearance for $1 for lunch sandwiches. Hubby said I was acting like you 😂
Every time I get a great deal and buy a bunch I think "Christine would be proud" 😂
