Not only do I remember those adverts, but I can remember working out in my head a complicated world in which The Man from Milk Tray was present at that very ambassadorial reception, while on a mission to defeat the evil Man From Del Monte, before going home and realising that he'd been so busy saving the world that he hadn't bought any fresh coffee so he'd have to pop round and ask his new neighbour if he could borrow some from her...
Hi. I’ve just found a drama called the loadstone by Sheila Hodgson but I’m not sure if it would fit the theme of the channel and I also wondered if the drama self control by mary Brunton or lady Audley’s secret by Mary, Elizabeth Braddon would fit the theme of the channel.
That's a good question... I think Lady Audley ought to qualify - it's got a very sinister side to it after all. Self Control also verges on the same sort of territory as many a gothic novel... And it puts me in mind of Clarissa, which would probably qualify too (I'm thinking of the 'recent' adaptation starring Richard Armitage - that always struck me as very 'right' as physically he resembles Sean Bean, who played the same character in the 1990s TV serial of Clarissa...
@@mysteriousmagpie I don’t remember hearing that drama Clarissa on the radio, but it sounds brilliant! Even though I’ve heard a good many dramas on the radio over the years from a wide range of genres it’s still nice to come across ones I haven’t heard before.
Sheila Hodgson was a gem of radio drama. Where M R James wrapped up, she extended the legacy deservedly.
Thankyou for all your hard work . Excellent channel .
You are the Ferrero Rocher Ambassador of radio drama: "You are spoiling us". (If you're old enough to remember that.)
