memories to my husband whos been there for some time working on the system. watching this beautiful video brings back a wonderful time 5O years ago- love to be there nearer to make some trips to the past.. playing the akkordeon in the old cityhall of Jinderbyne.
Thanks for the upload. Makes me proud of our country's engineering achievements. Hopefully the dedication can be applied to correcting some of the unforeseen issues caused by the Snowy Scheme
Awesome project built by people who took the chance to escape war and oppression and made a life for themselves in Australia. Always have had a lot of respect for true refugees seeking a better life and who assimilated into our Australian way of life while retaining their own values and customs, which they willingly shared with us, without bringing their problems to this country. Can't imagine the hardships they left behind but we welcomed these immigrants with open arms and understood their trepidations. They in turn, appreciated the opportunity of a new, free life down-under and accepted our way of life, and we all got along very well together.
This project and its success just shows how stupid war is! The same people we were at war against came and helped build something that benefits us all.
