    My dear friend and I were chatting about the new Maria Trolle book. And I mentioned needing her first two books. I had no idea this was the same book! Thank you for doing such a thorough review. It saved me nearly $50!!

      You are welcome Beth! Depending on where you live, postage can make a real difference whether you buy the Swedish or Dutch imprint. Unfortunately, there is no English imprint for this edition. Happy coloring x

      @@coloringqueen I much prefer the books in there Original language. I think it adds character to them and I will end up getting the hardback copy through Etsy. Hopefully soon....

    Thank you Lea! I was so sad that Vivi seems to be unavailable everywhere. But then someone pointed out to me that Droomreis is the same. So I headed over here to see your comparison. And yeah, I ordered it and should be delivered tomorrow. Happyyy!

    Thank you. I always seem to get the Dutch versions of everything. I am English but it seems like Swedish versions are not sold here I would love a swede versions or an English version but I can’t find them in stock in U.K.

      ikr it's so annoying :( . It's a pity that they are not more universally available but I guess they have to go where the market and costs of production allow them to. My biggest bug bear is all the books that no-one will ship to Australia :( With Maria's books you would be very unlikely to be able to pick them up locally in store in the UK but you . might find an online UK based store selling them from time to time. Happy coloring x - Lea

      The paper is excellent. I have used watercolour pencils and inktense as well as pencils and it didn’t warp at all

    When I saw this book (of all places Amazon Japan! :) I was like well at first I was "She had a book come out?? How did I not KNOW!????" Then I was like No WAY. My Great Coloring Book Reviewers would have let me know. And then I realized where that page was from and Hahahahahahahahahha! :D YES! Vivi can now take her Rightful place of Honor!
    But not yet on my bookshelves unfortunately. I took to long deciding and Droomreis sold out from Amazon Japan like in a minute. Usually they keep the foreign books in stock .....that sounds so weird lol but like what would be foreign for Japanese colorists so American, German, Swedish and Dutch books they usually keep in stock. But maybe the Dutch didn't make that many. Because they thought there's the first edition. Which just goes to show that You and Me are not alone in wanting things to Match! Because people who already had the first book HAD to be buying this book because it sold out Everywhere. I'm amazed you managed to track down a place. Actually not really because your really good at tracking down the almost unfindable.
    I like the placement like of the cloud cake page better in Vivi. I hate Vivi's perforated pages though. Perforated pages are fine in books like Creative Haven. Because their single side? NO! Apparently that's what some publishers think! (and if it's not the publisher who makes that decision my apologies) It's because Creative Havens book don't tell a Story! Their a contained coloring page. Sure the whole book is about trees or dogs, or adorable kittens but it's not a story. However their books that DO tell a story such as Famous Ballets or Botanical Gardens are NOT Perforated! Vivi is a Story. She's on a journey. If you take pages out you lose the journey! At least that's what I think. But enough about my pet peeves. The Dutch have brought balance to many a colorist bookshelves and that is worth celebrating!! WoHoo! :D Thanks for the comparison and Great Review!

    • @coloringqueen
      @coloringqueen  7 лет назад +1

      Yes you are right, when there is a story a perforation disrupts it but when it's just pages then it's fine. I've been coloring my Thaneeya McArdle books this week and don't feel any grief when I tear them out of the book, because there is no story but if I tore a page from Vivi that would be upsetting. It's sure to come back in stock at BD and other places, just sold out at the moment. The publishers have taken on a few well know books like Tomislav Tomick and Kanoku Egusa and are producing their books as Dutch editions. That was the reason that I purchased Droomreis, I wanted to see what their publishing style was like :) Happy coloring x

    You forget to say that in the Swedish version the pages are perforated. . . That kind of annoys me, I like to keep my books as books. I've purchased both versions but still waiting for the Dutch one to arrive. Both have their advantages I guess. Thank you for the comparison review x

      woops! I did forget to mention that I think. It's funny some people like perforations others don't some like spiral others don't. I like perforations in my soft books like Thaneeya McArdle but real books like Vivi not so much and I'm probably the only one that hates spiral binding. Happy coloring x

      @Gabbi_Plants 7 лет назад

      Coloring Queen you're not, I'm not fond of spiral binding either. I imagine most leftys find it irksome as well!

    • @coloringqueen
      @coloringqueen  7 лет назад

      Do you like spiral bound if it is top bound? I don't like it because it tears at the dust jackets of my other pretties on the shelf so I have to store it separately. Happy coloring x

    • @Gabbi_Plants
      @Gabbi_Plants 7 лет назад

      Coloring Queen I don't gave any top bound but I imagine not, I'm a little OCD where my books and pencils and things are concerned and so the spiral binding makes it hard to store, I have a little box that I use for all my spiral bound books.

    • @coloringqueen
      @coloringqueen  7 лет назад

      ha ha me too! I really hate that they are stored separately because I like my things organised in a particular way! Happy coloring x

    I'm not sure you still want to hear about the pronounciation of Droomreis, as I'm a bit late to the party, but here it goes.
    Droom - the double o means the o is stretched out, as in 'home'
    Reis - English has no equivalent for 'ei' -pronouncing it like 'rice' comes closest.
    (don't listen to google translate pronouncing it, it sounds terrible)
    By the way, the Swedish title hasn't been translated into Dutch: 'VIvi is looking for a friend' has become 'Dream journey'.
    TMI? :) Thanks for the review - you are one of the reasons I spend way too much money on colouring books. :)

      ahhh thank you for that translation assistance! I do try Google translate but I know it's never the same as a native speaker. I figure my pronunciations probably provide a good laugh for people! If it's any consolation I spend way too much on my hobby and collection as well ha ha! Hope you have a lovely Christmas break!
