    I gotta be honest, out of the first four seasons with actual story-adapted episodes (not counting 5-7), this one is my least favorite.
    My main issue with season 3 was it felt like this season was thought of at the last minute, mainly for the sake of developing more episodes to use for Shining Time Station, and it really shows. To begin with, after season 2, Thomas was pretty much overwith for four years until we started seeing more new episodes again in 1991, the first half being direct to video. While I will admit these are also my own assumptions, I don’t find it to be a coincidence that we suddenly have these new batch of episodes appearing on Shining Time Station in America while they were released direct to video in the UK around the same time they came on the show. It feels like this season was made because by the time season 2 of Shining Time Station came about, George had to re-narrate stories Ringo already did in season 1, because by that point we really only had 11 episodes to use from season 1-2 (yes, including Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree because that episode never actually aired on Shining Time Station, not including that poorly-edited “U.S narration” from Ringo on the video release of “Tis a Gift” ), which doesn’t exactly give enough episodes for a double story feature in them, which is why George had to re-narrate the episodes, but it wouldn’t exactly look fun if we had the same exact stories repeated with a new narration in every single episode (if you notice, in season 2 we only got two episodes that both featured two stories previously narrated by Ringo), which I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what led to Britt wanting to make new stories for Shining Time Station so we would have a batch of fresh new episodes and keeping the viewers entertained.
    Where that also hurts the show however is the fact that this season felt like it had no story arc episodes at all, minus Mavis’ and Oliver’s introductions, both of which are just two-part stories. Otherwise, every other episode is pretty much just a solo episode adaption with stories that were previously left out (Leaves, Percy’s Promise which I also feel should have been adapted in season 2, Percy and the Trousers etc), many of which I feel didn’t work as adaptions because they really had to stretch the stories out for them to work (The Trouble with Mud and A Scarf for Percy come in mind), while other stories were developed from Andrew Brenner stories, which I liked, but again, it also felt like sometimes they had to be altered/stretched out with other stories from him (or Wilbert Awdry, in the case of “Trust Thomas” where they just took “Trucks” and mixed it in with another story from Brenner; this episode was also my first exposure to Thomas by the way (Trust Thomas and Other Stories), so while it does hold a special place in my heart for it, I also didn’t like how butchered it felt), and it also didn’t exactly help that Britt never credited Andrew for any of those story adaptions. “Thomas and Percy’s Christmas Adventure” should have just been given a direct to video release instead of being featured on Shining Time, because the idea of changing the story to Thanksgiving really didn’t work and it felt very, very forced. (I mean, for goodness sake, the audio is completely out of sync in the very end of the U.S version!).
    This is where I’m glad season 4 fixed up that issue, even if that season also had some story adaption issues for me (mainly a lot of stories after the Stepney arc).
    Anyway, just wanted to say I really enjoyed this review even if our opinions on it may be different. 👍🏻

    Season 3 is my favorite season of Thomas & Friends. I love Gordon and the Famous Visitor when Gordon is jealous about City of Truro getting all the attention over him and goes too far by trying to be as special going as fast racing and speeding down the mainline and loses his dome being blown off the bridge thanks to the wind, which is very funny, and then Gordon is made into a laughing stock by the other engines and some trucks/freight cars near the end of the episode and learns the hard way not to be jealous.
    I love Henry's Forest, because it shows the wonderful character side of Henry and he is a nature lover and loves visiting the forest. When the forest did get damaged it was nice that Toby, Terence, and Trevor all come together to rebuilt the forest by planting new trees, making Henry happy again.
    Buzz Buzz/James Goes Buzz Buzz is very funny. The bees buzzing around James which he finds annoying resulting in his big red nose on his face.
    Percy, James and the Fruitful Day, like you said in your review, this being the first episode to feature both Percy and James as the main Characters together. James break down, so Percy has to take the fruit for him but ends up crashing in an accident, causing the fruit be splashed everywhere even on Percy himself.
    Other episodes of Season 3 I love are:
    1. A Scarf for Percy
    2. Percy's Promise
    3. Donald's Duck
    4. Thomas, Percy and the Mail Train
    5. Trust Thomas
    6. All At Sea
    7. Tender Engines
    8. Bulgy
    9. Heroes

    The reason Thomas and Percy's Mountain Adventure was Thanksgiving themed for the US was because of the Shining Time Station episode it aired: Billy's Party; the cast of Shining Time have a Thanksgiving party (even though it wasn't taken place during Thanksgiving), it's a clever idea, but leads to a bunch of flaws, British don't celebrate Thanksgiving and in the UK Christmas themed version, there was mentions of Santa Claus, the US cut that scene which led to audio and footage way out of sync. I think they should've kept the mentions of Santa because nowadays, he usually seen at the end of the Thanksgiving parade.

    I know you said that either I would be if Edward, Henry, James, or anybody but not Diesel helps Percy and Duck would make more sense, but let's put it this way. If all the other engines are too busy doing something else, and if Diesel is the only engine not working, then Sir Topham Hatt would have no choice but to choose him, you see what I mean?

    • @ZecoaTheDiesel
      @ZecoaTheDiesel  7 лет назад

      Yeah I do, it's not like I find it impossible that Diesel was the only engine, but I still fine it bit hard to believe that no other engines were available besides him, but yeah it does make sense on what you've said.

      ZecoaTheDiesel Also, you said in your Season 2 Review that Diesel is your all time favorite character (at least in standard gauge) so where you hoping that he would return in the Series? But I also have to ask, After the Duck Diesel Trilogy which is from the RWS where Diesel never returned except maybe as a small, are you also saying Diesel shouldn't return to the TV Series much like Awdry's criticism?

    Just saying but Gordon was missing his dome not his boiler. The boiler is the big long tube without it steam locomotives can't move. But all in all great ratings and reviews brilliant video.

    I thought in Seasons 1 and 2 you said that a bad episode means there was nothing redeemable at all, but the 3 bad episodes this season do have something redeemable in them.

    • @ZecoaTheDiesel
      @ZecoaTheDiesel  7 лет назад

      Yes in my Seasons 1 and 2 review I did said at if an episode had nothing redeemable then it's a bad episode, the reason I choose Trouble with Mud, Trust Thomas, and Tender Engines was because there were too many faults with the episodes and honestly even if there some good moments or something I did like in the episode, they weren't enough for me to call the episode good or meh especially Tender Engines. I probably should have been a little bit more clear on what I mean about an episode being bad. Again if you feel like the three bad episode should have gotten a different rating that's fine. Maybe at one point I'll re-review some of these episode and go into more detail on what I think about them.

    • @ZecoaTheDiesel
      @ZecoaTheDiesel  7 лет назад

      Again I should have been more clear, but even if there were some things in the episode I liked they weren't enough for ME to call the episode good or meh, because the flaws were too noticeable and I felt that they were not good episode, again in my opinion. If you disagree that's fine, but that's how I felt about these episodes.

    • @jonathanmohler2210
      @jonathanmohler2210 6 лет назад

      ZecoaTheDiesel So basically there's two types of bad in your opinion, the plot is completely stupid, or the story just wasn't structured properly.

      Atleast you fixed the audio like I watched the 1st 2 videos and the audio was shit. But you did good here so good job.

  • @jonathanmohler2210
    @jonathanmohler2210 6 лет назад

    I know you said some of the episodes featured plot points with no purpose like Harold in Thomas, Percy, and the Post/Mail Train but what about Harold in Trucks/Rusty Helps Peter Sam? I don't think that scene had much to do with anything.

    • @ZecoaTheDiesel
      @ZecoaTheDiesel  6 лет назад

      Those scenes were okay, because it help introduce Rusty to the audiences, plus it wasn't really a sub plot it was just a scene that came back at the end, which made sense, where's in Thomas, Percy, and the Mail Train, it feels like Britt had an idea for the subplot of Harold taking over the Mail train, but due too the time limit of the episode it wasn't flesh out well enough.

    • @jonathanmohler2210
      @jonathanmohler2210 6 лет назад

      ZecoaTheDiesel Yeah, but in my opinion, I'm wondering if The Reverend in the same is sometimes making plot points that might make senses for both him and some fans but not as much for fans like myself.

    • @ZecoaTheDiesel
      @ZecoaTheDiesel  6 лет назад

      @@jonathanmohler2210 Well you have to understand when it comes to things like writing a movie or a show the writer mostly writes on episode based on they want to right. They usually don't think about the fans most of the time. Sometimes they do, they might write an episode based on something the fans wanted or they might make an episode about the fans themselves, but usually they write an episode or story based on how and what make sense to them. It's impossible to think about what makes sense or everyone when it comes to writing a story. Now that's not to say you can't review and criticize them on their work, you're allow to do that, but also keep in mind in that a writer usually writes to themselves and how much they're happy with the work.

      ZecoaTheDiesel Can you approximate which date Your Season 4 review will be released?

    • @ZecoaTheDiesel
      @ZecoaTheDiesel  7 лет назад

      I don't know yet or know exactly what date Season will be released. Right now I'm watching all 26 episodes of Season 4 and writing my reviews on them. But with college coming up and I have to take some driving lessons it's possible that it might take longer, because I still having record and edit the review, which I have not done yet. In terms of then I think it'll be out. I'm hoping that it'll come out in Mid-2018 or at the very least early end of 2018. Again that's not a 100% promise, anything can happen, if anything does happen I might make an update video on when Season 4 is coming out.
      In the meantime I do have another review coming soon to my channel, it may be out next month or somewhere in March. And if you want more videos, go to the description on this video and click on the link to my gaming channel where I post let's plays. Thank you for understanding and I'll let you know how the Season 4 review is coming along.

  • @jonathanmohler2210

    So you thought Tender Engines was bad just because Henry gets jealous for no reason since the team didn't have the budget to make a full model of the Flying Scotsman?

    • @ZecoaTheDiesel
      @ZecoaTheDiesel  7 лет назад

      In a way, yes, but it was more because Henry almost had no reason to be jealous, but I thought it was a bad episode because again the story was poorly structured and very clunky.

    ZECOA THE DIESEL CAN YOU PLEASE DO THE THOMAS AND FRIENDS SEASON 7

  • @jonathanmohler2210

      ZecoaTheDiesel So the Rev hates anything not based on the Railway Series except last season's Thomas and Trevor?

    • @ZecoaTheDiesel
      @ZecoaTheDiesel  7 лет назад +1

      Of what I found on the Thomas Wiki it seems that the Reverend disapproved the new stories because he felt they were unrealistic. If you watch the review on Henry's Forest in this video you'll see what I mean. In terms of which ones he found okay I don't know if there was one, as I can find any information on that.

    • @jonathanmohler2210
      @jonathanmohler2210 7 лет назад

      ZecoaTheDiesel So what I'm trying to ask is Was the show made for the Reverend, audiences, or both?

    • @ZecoaTheDiesel
      @ZecoaTheDiesel  7 лет назад +1

      I would say the show was made mostly for children. I think Britt saw the idea for the stories and decided she wanted to make a children show out of it. I think the reason why the Rev and his family watch the show is mostly because it's his stories at are being shown on television and he wanted to know how the stories are told and what's being made.
