Thank you for being such a good listener. You asked good pointer questions to get hamilton starting but never interupted him to interject your own ideas about drugs like so many other interviewers
You are certainly welcome!😃😃💜 But ya that’s how we do. I can’t stand that. It’s like if you brought someone on your show to talk, let em talk. It’s not a competition. That’s why I bring people on the show that I’m genuinely interested in. It’s a learning experience for us too. Not just the audience. The guys and I make it a point that when we have guests, we make them the center of attention. THANKS SO MUCH FOR NOTICING 💜💜. I’m glad to have you as a viewer Jeremy. We will have other scientists on in the near future. Hope you tune in for that as well 😁
For sure! I’m so happy for him tho. He’s definitely living his best life. I think he’s a great example of how to follow all your passions with out sacrificing one for the other. I certainly want to do the same! 😊
just want to say a big thanks to hamilton for all the hard work he has done loved the series it filled a gap in documentary and journalism that needed to be filled... people will be watching these episodes for years to come
Yes! We feel the same way. He’s certainly had an impact on us. His writings and series make you think critically about what you consume. That’s so important. We are so glad we got to speak with him. Thanks so much for watching!😊
Yes! Same. I’ve looked up to him for a long time. As far as scientists go my top three is Bill nye, Hamilton and Neil Tyson so as you can imagine I was a little star struck 🤩😂😂
@@TheSquareRoundTable Wow! Well it actually is a 6 month course of basic neuroscience, because I want to specialize in neuropharmacology once I graduate :)
Just to clear this up: no, there is no mushroom in the grocery or health-food store that is psychedelic at any dose! This is why I agree we should talk about psilocybin instead of "magic mushrooms" (MDMA instead of "ecstasy"). Important stuff gets lost with slang, and mushrooms in particular are viewed as spooky and weird, magical or not. (You'll have to pick up some bulk poppy seeds or nutmeg if you insist on getting altered states in your shopping cart. Not recommended.)
The lack of information doctors have about a lot of the drugs they prescribe is troubling to say the least. A good friend is working to get off a lower dose of clonazepam and the prescribing doctor actually said "just stop taking your morning dose" (was prescribed .5mg of clonazepam once in the morning and once at night). After going through around a week of hell, I finally wrote up a legitimate taper schedule for the person. If doctors can prescribe these drugs, it's a must that they know how to properly taper someone off of them! I find it sad that someone who dropped out of highschool twice before finally getting a GED and continuing my education is more capable of providing a legitimate taper schedule than a trained medical professional is. The fact that the doctor said "just stop taking your morning dose" only shows the extreme ignorance on benzodiazepine withdrawal! The assumption was that 1mg wasn't large enough to cause major problems but when I learned that the person was experiencing an inability to sleep for several days as well as tremors, I started becoming really concerned about seizures and hallucinations.
You know, I believe that a lot of this is pure laziness on the physicians part. The truth is being a competent doctor and actually caring about your patients well being aren’t always synonymous. Unfortunately the latter isn’t taught in school. I do have friends that are brilliant physicians and do their job well, but like anything else, there’s the good the bad and the ugly. I’m deeply sorry about your friend. I also applaud you for being a good friend. You have a great heart. Thank you for sharing this 💜💜
The dangers of seizures are definitely real. I’ve experienced two really bad ones trying to come off of Benzos. It’s very dangerous and one of the hardest things to get off of.
@@TheSquareRoundTable Thank you. I appreciate it very much. I almost died twice. Anyone reading this PLEASE don’t get hooked on benzodiazepines. They’re dangerous and will make your anxiety even worse after you kick them.
And his Father has been successful making docs for years before and was also an autodidact running around high level educational institutions. The connections for distrib, etc..
Yeeeees! Sadly we didn’t have time to ask about his parental influences, but if we ever have him on again (which we will 😄) that will definitely be a topic we discuss.
I'm really glad Hamilton mentioned honest fear in people when it came to forbidding this stuff. People that see the great value of psychedelics are often shocked when they find out why they were made illegal. But they tend to forget that many people that were buying into the war on drugs were genuinely frightened by the drug horror stories. And I'm sure many just wanted to protect their children. Fear is very unuseful when you have to make decisions. You'll make irrational decisions when you're afraid. That's why the war on drugs people were so successful with their narratives. And that why it's so hard to get out of this mess. This fear is in the second and third generation now. And it's so deep within people that this will be a huge task for humanity to get rid of. And all just because some asshole wanted to get rid of his political opponents, ultimately out of ignorance and probably fear aswell. Fear of losing influence.
You are so welcome Sy ! It was so much fun. I love his show as well. Hopefully we can get him back for a longer conversation this time 😃😃. Thanks for watching 💜

Our puritanical ideas sort of religious guilt make us ashamed of pleasure and happiness. Medicinal use of substances for people with depression and other conditions is one small application.
