    I saw this at the time. I think Lembit understood the dynamics of the show and knew he would be given a bit of a hard time, so was prepared. They'd given Angus a hard time 4 years earlier when stories of his private life came out, so he knew he'd have an a former MP who'd just lost his seat / job.

    true story... Mr Opik is now working as a dental assistant while taking part time courses to learn Chinese. he says he wants to work in the British embassy in Beijing (but has said he knows he won't be the ambassador)

    Lembit is now chairman of the parliament of Asgardia, which appears to be some kind of hippy space thing. I've read about it for an hour and I'm still not sure what it is

    The trouble with people like Lembit is that these days, seemingly genuine people like him are chewed up and spat out by the careerist politicians of today who only pretend to care, and bring politics into disrepute as a result

    Amazing how some people just sort of fall from public view really...I remember hearing Lembit Opik's name quite a bit at one time...now he is just gone! Why the hell could that not have happened to a certain mumbling, stumbling mop headed old Etonian that we all know so well who happened to come on this program a fair bit back in the day?

      He had his 15 minutes due to dating a few minor celebs and having an unusual name for a UK politician, it's pretty natural after losing his seat he'd gradually fall out the public eye.

    Lemnitzer handled this really well so shortly after electoral defeat. Good on him. He talk it all in good sporting fashion.

    Lembit was a really good sport here, I thought. He obviously figured out that he was going to be ribbed mercilessly, and decided to play along with it (the harmonica at the end was a great gimmick).

      In 2019 the old days of 2010 seem like such innocent times. Politicians able to laugh at themselves? O.k not that common even then, but at least some of them thought that they had to keep up the pretence of some semblance of humanity. We thought they were wankers back then, but by today's standards they were statesmen.

    Zero bullshit here. I met Lempit in a pub near St. James park and he was promoting for a nightclub, trying to get my friends and I to go. Which we did, so I guess he did a good job but its pathetic that's what he does now.

    Montgomeryshire is a very safe Tory seat now - Tories got 58% of the vote - 35.5% more than the Lib Dems. It was inevitable he would lose that seat as the country become more and more conservative over time.
