His ideas haven't moved on since the days of Gibbon. This is a dated idea of Europe. None of the ancient world that he presents as foundation for the very idea of Europe we wouldn't have access to without it being preserved, interpreted & disseminated by Arab scholars.

But what I found recently is miracle .
The fortrees in Ohrid ( lihnid )was built by Filip the Second of Makedon .
That is why we have remined Republic Makedonia .
Our name was not changed but become stronger with the new preposition "North".
      Sorry Graecusian !
Was that the change of our name ?

      Not everything 😢
On the internet you will always just find summaries, like this video.
And unfortunately on tiktok, twitter/X or elsewhere people are always discussing summaries, often even misunderstood because they have huge, huuuge gaps.
This video is better than nothing, no doubt.
But it's still "almost nothing" compared to the real history.

To me, Christopher Clark is one of the great history explainers of our time. Always informative, entertaining, deeply humane and accurate to the point. Not only in the documentaries, but also in his books. I'm just reading "Iron Kingdom" about Prussia's history - it's just excellent. I am very grateful that he came over to tell us about our history again and again. Thank you for uploading this great documentary series.

So lucid and easy to follow. Most IR courses start with the Treaty of Westphalia 1648 but it is really essential to incorporate the lead up to sovereign states and interdependency from this time onwards. Professor Clarke's book Iron Kingdom is a superb read.

I adored this documentary. As i greek i can say that there are some important missing parts of ancient greek history ( Philosophy, history, medicine, criticism, maths, olympics, sparta and its oen democratic principles - public education, equality in fortune). Great alexander and macedonians didn t conquered greece, because they were part of it ( same language, religion, traditions, participation at olympics). Actually ancient cities were often fighting one another. They are called greece because everytine needed they were united and because of what is known as "panhellenic bonds". Though i totally understand that you cannot include every detail in such a documentary. Thank you very much for the great job. The narrator is awesome!

The assumption that Neanderthalers were stupid and undeveloped is a huge mistake. Due to their way of living with the elements, animal and plant-life, they were deeply connected to the knowledge of form and shape.
Hence the extraordinarily detailed, correct display of animal-drawings on the face of rock.

3:30. Right then and there you can tell this is nothing but neo nationalism, which ignores all evidence that doesn't support its agenda. The first homo sapient in Europe (the ones that intermixed with neanderthals) we know for a fact based on dna, were people related to ancestors of East Asians and Melanesians, haplogroup K. And we have their descendents, haplogroup R, showing up in locations like Italy 15 thousand years ago, or Spain 11 thousand years ago. Showing clear genetic continuity over a vast period of time. The first Europeans, as well as more recent hunter-gatherers did not come by way of the route shown here.. It is non factual.

Well to be fair the Greeks took everything from Egyptians and Persians. The Romans took from Greeks, the rest of Europe took from the Greeks.

@@jakejhons5138define everything 😂 Greeks shared and traded and took and developed things from all around Mediterranean but there are certain things that Greeks just invented that shape the whole western world

Shelley also wrote Ozymandias, which applies perfectly to European civilisation. It won't last forever.

Europe is named after a Black woman, Europa. The ancient Greeks were Black people and this is why their socalled gods were Black people IE Shemites ie Israelites. See Anacalypsis by G Higgins. Stop lying. Shalom

Well I believe Germans were fighting in Roman Legions during the time of Caligula right? After all I believe Caligula may have had German influences given his name. Of course these would be Germans who had been in Silesia for many centuries before the Romans correct?

That incredible art, those painting, were not created by chance. Those paintings were created by educated People...There must of being an incredible civilization who was destroyed and those people who survived were trying to send a message...this is what I believe.
