Great video, I was looking to make a floor on top to use for fishing, it may also help not to puncture the tubes while fishing in case if the fishing hook happen to fall on it. This is the only video I think with a floor made like this on a dinghy. Can you please add an updated video showing more details about floor? How you make the bottom of floor? Also, does this boat have a ISO-6185 on it?
So the TakaCat is from NZ and the TrueKit is from OZ? Besides the full transom on the TrueKit is there any major difference between the two? What’s the back story? I’m interested in both but I live in the States so I’m trying to do some research. Thanks for any insight you can give!
I am looking at them both. Both brands are from NZ. Truekit can be bought on their own site (will be shipped from their factory in China directly via DHL). Takacat can be bought via redbeardsailing dot com. Including shipping, the Truekit 330 Discovery and Takacat 340 XL are roughly the same price. I think the open transom in the Takacat is a good idea if you plan to jump waves and get swamped. Otherwise, when it's time to sell the boat, the buyers may get scared away. Also, Takacat 340 has only 1 air compartment for each tube. Truekit has 2 per tube, so if you punch a hole while fishing, the Truekit will be a bit safer. So now I am leaning towards the Truekit Discovery 330. I also looked at the Saturn and Bris catamarans, but their beams seem too wide and probably more prone to flipping in a head wind.
@@dominiquestephenson195 By the way, the Takacat 380 XL does have 2 air compartments per tube. So if you plan to use a bigger motor, it may work as well. I plan to use a 6hp Suzuki (52lb) but that may be too weeny for the 380 XL.
Ik Lam -I have access to some very reliable rebuilt inexpensive 15hp Evinrude 2 strokes from the 1990’s. They are powerful yet very lightweight. I think the Discovery 380 with solid transom is a good fit maybe and large enough to carry a decent size fuel tank. I also like the idea of “seam welding” vs glued unless that’s just a marketing gimmick. Most of all I like being able to pack the boat in my 4Runner for overlanding adventures so I don’t have to tow a trailer etc. I’m sure the grandkids will have a blast on it at our local inland lakes with that swim platform nose it has.
Hi gidginbung, It's the Takacat 300 Sport and we actually run an electric motor on it rather than an outboard. In saying that I do have a 5hp that does go on it. Cheers, Rhys
Kieran Blair the flooring is made with structural ply winner. Basically a top board and then the structure underneath to sit the battery on so the heavy weight of the battery is distributed evenly. You can just have the board across the top though. With the boards underneath on the deck it holds it all in place by just sitting there but if you only use a top deck you can just strap the deck in with a few cam locks strapped to the handles on the side. They are a great watercraft!
I JUST A 10 FT BRIG F300 INFLATABLE RIB BOAT ,,GOT A GOOD DEAL NOW ITS WINTER ..CANT WAIT TO TRY IT .GOTTA MAKE ME SOME BOAT WHEELS , THANKS FOR POSTING
Michael Wells they are called yellow belly or golden perch they are a native fish in southern parts of Australia and some of them are called Murray cod they are also native and there was a trout cod in there somewhere which is very rare as it’s a breed of cod and trout mixed together and they aren’t doing too well
..the design of that..dunno..transom area is scary low to the water line, like just moderate wave action would rise over it...like the stability..wow..
Robert Allen hey mate! The transom is low to the water but no water gets in. You’d have to be going backwards through some decent waves to have water coming it. It’s extremely buoyant so it would rise with the waves of there was any. We only use them in the freshwater anyway, so no troubles with the waves
I love this boat. What is the model? Is it good for snakehead fishing?

Love those panels to mount the trolling, how to you attach it to the boat?
That looks awesome! Where can you get one?
Nice boats, i like it
Can that music though...
Agreed. And that way overused drone. More details about the actual boat would have been nice though.
Nice video

Ik Lam -Thanks much for your advice my friend. This helps a lot.

did u make the flooring
Hey Henry Robinson,
Yeah mate I made the flooring. Customised it so it fits in with our fishing style
I know a friend that owns one of these and the rubber material is sub-par.
What size Takacat is this one?
What size outboard do you guys use on it?

Do this boat need to Registration and license to drive this one?
Not necessary if you don't mount any motor or engine.
