Bonjour...j aime beaucoup vos fenêtres avec l arrondi ..ça do.ne de la douceur à la fenêtre...j admire toujours votre travail..bon courage à vous..et très bonne journée.
I just got a router and I am doing hinges so this video was great info. I like to watch your videos, you take your time and the project comes out beautifully.
As I said before, you are one of the best channel on YT about houses. Are you always sure about the result , because these windows are old and were not well maintained before you . What a result the little window in the kitchen is very nice.💯💯💯
I appreciate that you have upgraded and restored the original windows. The curved frames are so elegant. It would have been such a shame to have ripped them out and replaced them with bog standard plastic frames with no charm or character to them. Well done, they look beautiful. I would have liked to have seen how you made the curved part of the frame though👍.
Keeping the nice features is important. The curved trim was made in the same way as I have done before, as seen in part 53 ruclips.net/video/miwe9Yrq-0c/видео.html
Tell it like it is, get on with it, job done. It looks great lovely windows and great camera shot doing the rebating. I remember the problem with the kitchen window/tap and the look on your face when you realised 😄 I believe you can buy taps that actually sorta bend over now in France but your solution was the best.
This year we have had a huge amount of slugs and snails in Normandy that ate EVERYTHING in the veg garden, but we have managed to keep replanting some veg. The potatoes are very good and plentiful, french beans grew well and we finally have some courgettes and a couple of pumpkins. but tomatoes, carrots and lettuce have not worked at all. The fruit trees are still getting established. Oh we did get plenty of gooseberries and some raspberries too.
Another great job, fantastic workmanship, love your channel. Could I ask where you had the glass cut please. I am not great at DIY but we have some nice original windows that would greatly benefit from this upgrade rather than changing them completely. Is this something a novice could do? Regards lance
The glass units are made at a local glazing factory, a quick search on google should find someone local to you that makes double glazed units, some places have an online ordering service where you put in the sizes. The curved ones I make an MDF template and the factory copy this. The hardest part is cutting the rebate on the frames deeper, for which a router is really essential.
How do you get the replacement panes made for the top sections of the windows (with the curves)? Do you supply the glass shop with a template taken from the old pane?
I take a paper template of the window first, allowing for the putty, then transfer this to some thin MDF which I double check fits. The MDF is then given to the glass factory who cut the glass to the exact size. I have one last window to go so I'll make sure to film the making of the template for a future video.
Just wondering how you curved the trim to fit the top of the window? I know nothing about wood working so am just curious as you didn’t show that part. 🤔
The basic shape is cut from a wide piece of timber using a paper template, then the edge is rounded over on the table router as seen in part 53 ruclips.net/video/miwe9Yrq-0c/видео.html
Great job. Like you I am xpat In belle France. Would like to do something similar! Did you get the d/glazing made up in France? If so could you post a link please.
Yes, the double glazed units are made by Glaces et Miroirs Ouest in France, they have a factory fairly near me, although I believe the units are made in Paris. www.glaces-et-miroirs.fr/ The units I ask for are 4/6/4, which is 4mm glass, 6mm gap, 4mm glass. This is the thinnest units they make, which will 'just' fit in the frames I have.
Comme toujours le travail est impeccable Mettre des doubles vitrages 9 en gardant les vieilles boiserie Pour pas dénaturer la façade de la maison C'est une bonne idée😊

Very satisfying- replacing windows
It makes such a difference, but I'll be glad when I do the next one as it's the last that needs to be done
Beautiful old windows, I especially love the single window and its fittings.

How does your Garden look? Do you earn a lot of fruits and vegetable?
