Exactly Freya! Thanks for telling everyone else to be yourself. Many singers wanna sound like somebody else (preferably famous singers). Your own voice might sound perfect to someone or a huge crowd.
The title is a bit misleading. I didn't learn anything about my *type* of timbre to my voice. Great explanation of timbre, but I came for the title, thinking that I'll learn more about different types and specifically my type of timbre. Could you make a video talking about that? Or is there no categories for timbre?
I completely agree. It was frustrating because I'm putting together a complete range Test for my students and wanted to check other resources for anything I may have missed.
I'd like to add here, I think it matters a lot where your voice derives its uniqueness from. A voice can be unique because of a retracted tongue, vocal folds pressed together and/or excessively singing through the nose. It's unique, but it doesn't sound pleasant and it will not allow your voice to grow. After all it's bad vocal technique. You might fear that if you work to abandon those habits, your voice will loose its uniqueness. However consider that you might not even have found your true voice and it might be unique AND beautiful. It might take the production of many boring sounds to obtain the freedom necessary to be able to explore the full capacity of your voice and find the most interesting places to go for. A lot of the interesting character of our voices is derived from resonance, which only starts to shine once we've established a healthy technique, freedom and control.
Once you are used to the voice that you want to sound like, you will get it. But you need put efforts It's like you were thin but now you look bigger, healthier, and stronger when you start that bodybuilder lifestyle It is true you probably do sound quacky, but you can work for it. Nothing is impossible Work for your goals, be happy
Very helpful. I'm oriental Asian, & I always wanted to sound like Boys 2 Men , Wanya Morris, Kci and Jojo. But I've come to accept my "vocal finger print"
I personally find that bright and ugly are synonyms in voices. I unfortunately have a rather bright voice but I find bright voices ugly. A dark contralto is the most attractive female voice I've ever heard sometimes called a dramatic controlto by the woman who song Italian operas in it
I’m now much older than I was in high school and I was an opera singer, and my head voice was very strong, but now I just get my notes to come out with laser focus that I had in head voice. Also, my power just can’t be sustained like it used to be. I want it back! I practice daily.
Thank u for teaching me something in quarantine 😁 Hi Freya would u mind doing a video of how to sing " Rise Up " I am a new fan u made me love singing 😍😄😊 I would love it if u do
Not really! To be honest, the ones she named, the Brit, the southerner, the Nasal Northerner, & the other do have some weird voices that not many people have themselves!
Oh boy, the pronunciation of timbre is really driving my ocd nuts, not her fault, but tomber is making me want to bash my head cause I can't change it to Tim ber
I hate ocd and what the crap is virtue wasity? I bet she pronounces microwave meek crow wah veh. Lol sorry couldn't help. So far haven't heard what my type is or how to have it, just about Disney or something. And a sound effect and type of singing voice.

I love that you mentioned Lea Salonga! She has always been my gold standard for singing voices :D
Promise you! Check out a girl name Jade Novah . She has a BEAUTIFUL voice . Very pure
So there are two kinds of timbre, the disney princess and the hunchback of notre dame, got it
Yeah. At first I didn't know why you said that but she does come across that way. 💯

I think Gene Ween is another one who would fall into that character type timbre group. A very talented and underrated vocalist.
Anyone else see her randomly turn into a hotdog ?
I CANT 😂
I saw ur comment as soon as it happened lol

Same, i have a bright voice that I consider to be really annoying. Altos and contraltos just have a richer, fuller sound..
Casey Lee Williams is amazing with her timbre too 😭❤
My timbre type is a 60 year old chainsmoker😆
I needed to hear this. Its very inspirational. Be yourself bbs.
Thank you Freya!
Our natural voices come with many colors as well.
very very useful thank you, Im working on my IB theatre research presentation and it came in clutch thanks a lot! very well explained!
Thanks for this teaching, it’s a good thing for me to know about this timber.

Tom Waits what a unique voice. Showing my girlfriend this video because her voice sounds like a French horn.
So what you’re saying is..there’s no way I can turn into Whitney Huston? Damn it
Hello Grand Master.
You are one of them

I am so so so happy that I got a like from Freya 😱😱😄😍
Unfortunately I had to be one of the 32 just on the enunciation of timbre. To each their own.
So helpful your the best !
Is timbre the uniqueness of a person's voice? Some singers that come to mind are Chalino Sanchez, Jagjit Singh & John Chibadura. Very unique.
there are no two people with identical timbre, human's voice is a unique natural musical instrument
@@RizalBudiLeksono Like snowflakes?
Thank you. I’ve told for years that I have a deep timbre voice and I still don’t know what that is supposed to mean.
First time I read Jagjit Singh on an English singing channel's comments section lol.. Nice!
Thanks Freya.
so finally wht is timbre?? 😁😁 ok hav understood something abt it but still not very clear, thanks👍
so what's the difference between timbre and tone? it seems that term is used quite interchangeably
Timbre is like the quality of sound for that instrument. Tone is the quality of that sound in general
Tone is like the melody you follow while timbre is the kind of sound or neutral level of your voice
Your first
Lol I remember learning timbre in physics chapter Sound lmao 🤭
Can you add English subtitles with periods at the end of sentences?
Can u like my comment cause I liked your
Jk
Can you change your singing timbre based on singing in high/low registers?
4:53
Ma'am, are your lessons applicable for male singers also ???? Please answer.
So true.
Can you create a playlist and write "Freya's Live Streams"?
“They are not the most beautiful voices, but they are unique” hella back handed 😒😒
Not really! To be honest, the ones she named, the Brit, the southerner, the Nasal Northerner, & the other do have some weird voices that not many people have themselves!
