The value of money all comes down to TRUST. When did we transition from the barter system to using money? And why does everyone trust a system that isn't based in a physical reality anymore?

I trusted you guys like my parents after like 2 videos.
Omg same here lol 😂 I love them
These two are great! I love their videos and trust the info they give out.
I think this was really planned by them. The music, the old feel, their clothing. Really makes us feel home listening tips from our parents.
I study computer science but my family has entrepreneurs and I have been reading about the economy and how money works, and so I normally don't listen to most people who offer advice on personal finance, thinking I'm better than them, which is true because most of them suck. But these guys actually provide some really useful information, different from most others.
Plot Twist: He doesn't trust his parents.
In Two Cents we trust.
Gold is best reflective of infored you can start a fire with it with golden cone and some sun shine. Or could rays or the sun
Woah, they're married? This plot twist changes everything in the Two Cents Cinematic Universe.
GriffJS now there is another kind of trust.
@Nathanael Gilzine ..... you're special
I didn't know they were married until I read the channel description

I still don't understand how people could dislike these videos...I can't, even if I wish to...I can't...
IKR! They are so fun to watch and it's just hilarious!
Communists?
I think it might be people who tried to like the video but misclicked
I disliked the video.
Unknown Unknown you are the very troll to be out of the Internet world
I "trust" that you will cover Bitcoin in the next episode.
Not in the next episode, but it's coming! - Philip 👨🏻
@@nantes50 And dollars.
@@TwoCentsPBS Hi Phillip can you please do an episode on holidays and if there's any value there? I'm not an expert but for me it just seems like a big money drain. Great episode as always!
Can you expand on that, Joe? What do you mean by "value there" in regards to holidays? You obviously can pay for services or products that provide an enjoyable experience (totally optional of course). But what above and beyond that?
@@maxcore9083 who would watch a video in Russian from this channel? ну, кроме меня :)
I love your animations they make the topic so much more interesting and understandable. Keep up the good work!
Hey guys, you should definitely do a video on "what happens if bank notes declared invalid" that's what exactly happened in India in 2016.
I had "trust" after watching the very first video
Thank you for your trust Laizra!
I absolutely love and trust this channel
Except that they gave incorrect info at the end: the Federal Reserve Note is no longer backed by gold and you cannot exchange it for such. Nixon ended the gold standard.
I do not trust money, it never stays with me.
S.R.T I put it in a savings account or gold certificates. Money loses value and I need to counter the loss when dollar drops I win cause I trust gold more than papers
@@adamfishermen7877 golf certificates? If you aren't holding the gold, who's to say it even truly exists. Gold is also a terrible investment.
@@adamfishermen7877 old comment, but if you want to fight inflation AFAIK investing in government bonds or the ETFs are the best way to retain your monies value/increase it’s value over time.
I don't know if it's still a thing but something interesting happened in a MMORPG i used to play: the developers decided players can only use their in-game money to buy stuff to NPC and not to other players making commerce between players limited to trading, but someone decided to give some items a value and use them as currency, eventually those became the unofficial in-game money. TRUST
Guys!
Great video as always!!
Fantastic video. I really appreciated the Chemistry part. I never realized how few viable precious metals there where because I think of each Element with great esteem.
busyrand I think copper was also one of the materials people used to use for money. (As bronze of course)
I could totally see that being the case, but it definitely tarnishes over time, and a lesser educated population might not trust it due to its appearance not being uniform. However, coins minted by a Kingdom, embedded with a seal, would be enough for people to trust it... Interesting thought experiment.
At the basis, money is an idea. What people should look at is what they offer or exchange for money. If it is bought a lot, you will be wealthy. But wealthy not because of the money in your bank, but because what you are offering to majority.
Always a delight to receive a new video from you guys in the subscription box :) Managing money is truly something everyone can learn more on!
Great explanation! Very clear! Thanks for mentioning the sources as well!
This is one of my favorite channels I have subscribed to. I have no idea how I found it, but I'm glad I did! Please keep up the good work, you guys are really, genuinely great!

Y'all are the financial parents I never knew I needed
It is so interesting to think that money is imaginary. I guess I've always known but it has never meant anything to me until you guys explained it! Thanks for your two cents! Love the channel and cannot wait for next weeks video!
It is just like land has no value until there is a buyer that is willing and able to pay for it.
Lovely video guys keep up the amazing work !!!
You guys are amazing. You make personal finances very easy to understand and relatable to every day situations. Thank you!
I saw extra history 's paper money 6 episode series . This video is not at all misleading but it fascinates me how large amount of events, transitions and things happened in between points told in this video
Love you two !! Happy holidays!!
I saw the name of the video and I was inherently thinking aww it's not a video I can learn something practical from, and then I watched it, and I freaking loved it and I feel more educated now. I LOVE your videos and all the effort everyone puts in them ^_^ keep on being awesome!
I have trusted you and subscribed after 1 ep. Fun to watch, informative, and pretty concise, with a bit of skit between you two.
Seriously love these videos. They need to show these to high school students
Fantastic show! I'm really enjoying everything you're putting on here!
It's worth mentioning that the constant increase of the money supply decays the value of existing money in circulation, so your trust in money is also that it won't decrease in value too much before you need to use it.
I love you guys. So good at storytelling, so much fun to watch.
Loving this channel!
Awesome as always!
Your channel is growing exceptionally...... congratulations
Keep up the good work guys. I look forward to more content in the near future.
Great video. Waiting for the next one
Great work guys!

This video was entertaining while still giving out good info. I especially liked the opening scene and your idea to chow down on that yummy barley :D Great job!
This should be shown in public schools.
Amazing! Keep it up guys!
Nice hearted couple you are..♥️😊 full of positive vibes..and thoughtful..keep going mates 👍🏽✌🏽
Another great informative video. Thanks guys
Very good and informative explanation! Keep it up!
2cents and 50cent always been in my playlists 😁
Watching Two Cents makes me happy everytime.
The first video I watched on your channel, you guys are good!
I agree.. I enjoyed the "Ascent of money" series. Great video again team!
Your channel is amazing, you talk about serious and big matters in a relaxed and funny way, but still keeping it ''down to earth'' without making a joke about it. What was once ''stuff of nightmares'' you make us want to learn and know more about it an wait in excitement for the next episode!!! I don't know how do you do it... magic? must be 😂 Also you're such an adorable couple
In ideas we believe, in communication we interact, in minds we trust.
Same as in the book "Sapiens", excellent way to explain what money is, it's a system of trust.
Love you guys to pieces! Learnt alot from your channel! Thanks a bunch!
Thanks for explaining why the fetishization of gold is misguided.
Sounds like they explained the opposite. What they didn't say was how all those early currencies failed miserably through inflation. Including that often cited Chinese example
To further expand on my explanation, basically gold is seen as a store of value in the same way currency is, it is obvious you can't eat it. But what they explained is that it has intrinsic value because of its properties. Those who own gold do see it as a store of value they can exchange someday, even the preppers.
Huh? Every fiat currency (“paper money”) in history has failed.
Even your dollar has lost 97% of its buying power since 1913. The last 3% is inevitable.
Silver and Gold have been use for over 4,000 years and there’s is no country that won’t except it, unlike Fiat currency’s that always ends. Who was it that said “Gold is money everything else is credit” I think J.P. Morgan to Congress
I.O.U. The point being that gold has no intrinsic value outside of what people believe, just like paper money.
Really great video, keep it up.
Helpful to me as an accounting and finance student , the next episode should come really soon
Guys your videos are amazingly insightful, hope you can reach million subscribers soon.
You guys deserve more subscriber. Big fans.
2:48 Reminds me of a character in a webcomic I read who said “Money is simply the root of _all.”_
This was just a fascinating video!
Very informative, thanks two cents
This channel is awesome!
Thanks a lot guys for this ... ur awesome
Heartiest of greetings from India! Love what you guys are doing. Huge fan of your simplicity and positive attitude.
You guys are doing a great job at education. Keep it up!
Nicely explained!
Good video and funny opening act! This is actually an important topic that the mass majority of society never thinks about.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around debits and credits and how to know which is which in my bookkeeping. I'd love a video on the concept/theory of these or even a history!
U guys will definitely hit 1M till june 19 😉.... I love your videos 🤘
This open my mind! Thank you, a sub from Indonesia❤️
Fantastic. Puts a 😀 on my face every time. Great couple. Great teaching.
Saying that we all "agree" in the existence of the monetary system is misleading. I know it's a lie, but surviving without it is too difficult. It's coercion.
You still kinda agree on some level
But could Julia actually catch Phillip? I don’t know if I trust her...
2:15 I like the whip sound upon them handshaking. Funny
Nice videos. Hope you guys can get a lot more views.
5:24 The green seal on the dollar blends with the green screen making it blue.
your videos are really informative and practically useful, as a graduating student i must say i am thankful to discover this channel 😂
What a great channel. Keep going👍
never thought like that. thanks for video.
