Hi Zack! I just love your videos! You really remind me of a few of my grandsons, actually, which should tell you I’m definitely one of your much older viewers😂. But, you read many of the thrillers/mysteries that I love and read. At my age and my level of introversion I definitely know who I am as a reader, which for me means I’ve gone through many seasons of life and how and what I read. As a small child I loved books with animals as the protagonist and I was lucky that my parents bought me whatever books I wanted and I loved the library. In high school, and college, I was all about the required reading whether fiction or non-fiction and had no time to read for “pleasure” or “by choice”. In my 20s and 30s, I was obsessed with non-fiction financial-planning books, etc. And, in my 40s completely immersed myself in all non-fiction animal-rights, veganism, and environmental books. In my 50s (now late 50s), I enjoy reading pretty much exclusively mystery/thriller fiction novels and I average 70-80 books/yr. though I only know that because I read on Apple Books on my iPad and it tells me my stats. I have bookshelves with my favorite non-fiction books and I’ve very recently started to collect some of my favorite novels in hardback, and ideally signed by the authors, most of which I order from The Mysterious Bookshop. I also do not subscribe to any social media (I just watch RUclips videos on topics that interest me), but with my new love of RUclips bookish videos I’ve become slightly enamored by having more hardbacks 😖, while still reading almost exclusively digitally via Apple Books, but RUclips has “made me” also download the Kindle App and subscribe to GoodReads because I’m intrigued by what all the BookTubers are talking about. I see where it could be a slippery slope though, so I may delete the GoodReads and heavily restrict my physical books to only those that truly reflect me as a reader, etc. I don’t want to become overwhelmed by physical possessions, which, would really bother me, and, also, I do not want to ruin reading for myself by turning it in to a grind as my personality can tend to do with certain things. Trying hard to maintain my personal mantra of “I read what I want to read, when I want to read it!”😊). I love cats and caught glimpses of your kitty in this video….I hope you love animals, too! I share this long rambling paragraph because I hope my journey may help a younger person in your own reading journey. I wish my grandsons talked as much as you do….it’s nice. Plus, rarely do I get to talk to anyone about my books and hear about theirs, so I love listening to what you have to say about your books! You’re doing a great job! Please keep doing your videos! I love how you do your reading journal and I like seeing your prompts and how you filled them in. 👍💛

Your energetic rants and honesty are so refreshing! Love it!!
For me it's physical books over audio or e-readers every time. I am definitely a minimalist and hate clutter--books don't count LOL
I usually don't have reading goals, more a mood reader or jumping on favorite author new releases or recs from YT channels.
    For 2025 though:
    1. Re-read all of Jodi Picoult's books.
    2. Reading more new romance ( Emily Henry, Abby Jimenez.) I'm not a romance fan but the reviews are so positive I have to give them a chance.
    3. Keeping a reading journal for special books.
    Happy reading!!

I love love love your idea for doing 52 book list/recommendations videos in 2025! I’d love to hear your recs for domestic thrillers, mixed media formats and full cast audio narrations, they are some of my things to read ✨📖🤍

Great video as always 😊 You have a lot of great and realistic goals for 2025. My goals for reading in 2025 are not numbers based. I want to start (and hopefully finish) fantasy series. My main ones I want to start are: the Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb, The Faithful and the Fallen by John Gwynne, and The Dandelion Dynasty by Ken Liu. I started the Throne of Glass series this year and I want to finish the series by January if possible.
I also, want to read more classic and modern classic literature this year. I started reading classics two years ago but I really want to get into reading more of them. Plus rereading some from when I read them in 2017. I want to see if my reading taste has changed since then. A few classics I want to read are: The Handmaid’s Tale, I Who Have Never Known Men, Emma, and White Nights. These are just a few of the ones I plan to read in 2025.
Lastly, my goal is to read more Indigenous authors. My list consists of two: Firekeeper’s Daughter and The Truth According to Ember.
I hope you have a great rest of the year! Here is to reaching our goals in 2025! Cheers! 🎉

Hi Zac! (Are you writing your name that way? I never know, I've seen Zac, Zack, Zach when people are leaving comments, so I'm not sure what your preferred spelling is...)
Ooh, I'm into the 52 lists idea! That'll be fun! And the prompts seem fun, too - will you share those ahead of time for the upcoming month? Could give your viewers a chance to do the prompts with you. I agree - checking things off a list is very satisfying!!
I'm not a planner when it comes to my hobbies - rather than propelling me forward, it just makes me feel constrained and stresses me out. I have enough deliverables at work, I don't want to include planning in my hobbies. I will do the usual Goodreads reading challenge (total number of books for the year), but for the rest, I will keep reading based on mood, how much free time I have at my disposal - and what's available at the library!
I relate to the space issue and trying to limit how many books you bring in. I also have limited space at home and many hobbies so it does become stressful when the shelves and closets are overflowing. 😐

First and foremost, I am here for the hang. You can ramble, I love the circus music because then I started hearing it in my head. Your videos are always a good time and I just like chilling with you while you talk things out. Also I deliver pizza and was on ramble Street when you said. Thanks for listening to me ramble LOL I thought that was kind of funny. I have a lot of ideas for lists. I'll write it in another message.

I like that you mentioned that each you find something you want to change. The thing I want to change is to start recording who suggests books that I add to my tbr, especially if they convince me so well that I immediately jump to reserve it at the library or buy it.

My tbr is digitally. If I bought all the books I've read, that would be crazy! I buy physical books showcasing my love for it. I listen to audiobooks 100 percent.

As a mood reader, I have a hard time keeping a journal. However, I find I do so much better with some type of structure. So ... I'm planning on doing a reading journal for 2025, so I'll definitely be interested in seeing how you do yours. Thanks.

these might be good list ideas!!
    1. Recommendations for new horror readers
    2. Books that you and Casey have opposite opinions about!
    3. Books or authors that would’ve changed Zack’s life as a young reader
    4. Top 10 favorite book recommendations from friends / family
    5. Books to read when entering your villain era
    6. Book to movie adaptations that gave you the ick
Some of my goals for 2025 are to:
    1. Reread more books!
    2. Read 1-3 authors’ backlist
    3. Finish more series
