  • Here's the dress if you'd like to see the photos and details: etsy.me/2NDU6Dz A sewing video today! I patchwork loads of different purple and green fabrics together to create a fairytale bohemian dress. It would be a lovely alternative boho wedding dress or fairy dress for a special occasion. wow. This is such an inspiration. Saving this video to make something similar in the future. As soon as I finish the circle cardigan I am starting to work on something similar to this.

      Thank you sew much for your lovely comment! I'll still be making sewing videos, but not as often as I used to. There are quite a few in the back-catalogue here on RUclips, and even more over on my Patreon page if you'd like to join us there too. Good luck with your dress, and happy sewing!

    Hi I have Just come across you. Thankyou for showing your creative process!!! Your studio is amazing and exciting like your creations!!! Could I ask where you get your labels from for your clothes? Thankyou. I’m binge watching your sewing vids at current!!!

      Thank you so much Megan :) I'd like to be able to recommend a label company, but I'm still searching for a good one - most woven labels are ridiculously expensive. The ones I'm using at the moment are from a company called JJ Cash, but their options are limited.

    Hi Helen love the look. Do you finish any raw edges or just leave the gentle fray?

    • @HelenHobden
      @HelenHobden  4 года назад

      Hi Doris; this dress was meant for a special occasion so I have finished almost all the edges - all the fraying ones anyway! Sometimes with zigzag stitch over the edge, sometimes with a folded hem. However for many of my other dresses I've left the edges raw.

    This is so lovely, my favourite yet I think. You have such an 'eye' for this kind of thing.
    The closest I've got is to 'make' an upcycled oversized t-shirt which is on Ebay, if you'd like to see it, here is the link:
    www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153497272695 - hope it works !
    I didn't really 'make' it, I just cut the neck and sleeves out of the shirt and added bits and pieces ! one day I'll make a dress like you do, but don't hold your breath yet !! ha ha

      A great t-shirt, it's very pretty - I like the lace at the bottom. :)
      This is one of my favourite dresses too - I definitely want to make more in this style now. Thank you for the compliment. :)

    do you have a system for cutting the garments you use? I am going to attempt to make a dress (it might turn out to be a house dress) out of some fleece sweatshirts that I never really wear. I do re-fashion, but this is only the second time I'll be using bits to make something new. Any advice is helpful-- also only the 3rd time I've used my dress form for draping--if fleece drapes!

      @HelenHobden  5 лет назад

      Hi! No I don't have a cutting system - I just cut off the seams to save time unpicking them. My best advice would be to do as much work on the top of the dress as you can before adding the skirt part to make it easier to move around the sewing machine. Good luck - I hope it goes well!
