30 years ago, I worked with a guy who was on the flight crew of the US Air Force plane, that evacuated Baby Doc out of Haiti. He'd mentioned it in passing, as the main subject of our conversation was something else, perhaps the type of airplane or weather conditions, etc, so whether they had Papa Doc's coffin with them or not, I don't know.
I haven't seen him in 20 years, but if I happen to run into him, I'll ask him, if they had Papa Doc's remains with them.

I spent a lot of time in Haiti as it was transitioning into the Aristide era. In spite of things not being settled politically, as pare lebruns were a common occurance in those days( late 80’s /early 90’s)Haiti has a very majestic energy grounded in strong ancestral vibes. Its mountainous beauty and the black sand beaches of Jacmel are breath taking. Absolutely excellent, so fascinating and compelling. Well done you for putting this together, it really filled a gap in my knowledge because we in the West don’t tend to hear about countries such as Haiti, and we have a woefully patronising and sanctimonious attitude. Papa Doc’s story is like a Shakespeare tragedy, Macbeth or Titus Andronicus, where a good man with outstanding qualities becomes corrupted by power. Truly “The road to Hell is paved with good intentions”. I loved your concluding words about keeping faith with the One God: I have the First Commandment on my bedroom door, it’s the first thing I see in the morning, and the last thing I see before I go to sleep at night. In between, I just try to get on with my daily tasks and show kindness and love my neighbour as best I can.
