And others can't find the gas tank but have wrenches and engine parts. Basically, what I'm saying is that it depends which server you're on. In other words, the game is broken.
Based on my experiences, before you do open the crates make sure you dont have anything with you or just trash items... I did this however sometimes the loot is poopy but sometimes it is super good like for an example I got 2 shotguns from the yellow box and a Mini Gun from the red one and other Modded guns. Try it, from my experiences it is pretty consistent.

They should make it so its expensive but you can craft it. Maybe 15 rubber parts 10 fuel containers (alternative 30 gas bottles) 3 Blue paint But make chances of blue paint lower and/or the quantity you get them in to 1-2
Best way is to use normal swords and bow, then you get enough green tikets there will be atleast a weapon , enough to complete the yellow crate then you need to kill frenized giants with weapons or wodden bows, for me works every time , + i farm seeds for carrots cuz one carrot restore 15 health so fight auto and spam food for regen
