    That's really cool. I really didn't want to change where I had my arm and mode switches but this all makes sense and since I only have one model and a new radio on the way I'm going to go this route....at least to start with.
    Having never used OpenTX I didn't really get the reciever numbering thing but I will sort it all out.
    Thanks a lot Darrin, you are a great teacher, slow, methodical and you seem to anticipate the questions that will trip us up. TG

    Just what I needed, Darren - many thanks! I'm new to FPV (from LOS FW and helis) and as I build my first model (ZOHD Dart XL(E)) with Matek FC and new Radiomaster TX16S I'm on a steep learning curve. Thanks to you and others, I'm soaking-up as much info as possible and for a good while I was trying to work out the best switch layout for me. I was going for the 'Pro' setup but have taken your excellent advice to go 'Standard' at first - I can already picture a very nervous 'Maiden flight' so the less complication the better! I'm a bit concerned about flicking-off the arm switch in flight (could do it in either direction) but with time should get used to it. Again, many thanks for your brilliant tutorials and keep up the good work with Inav Fixed Wing Group!
    Cheers, Andy

      Thanks Andy, and good luck with the maiden. Honestly, if you’re flying LOS FW, you’ll be fine. FPV is easier than LOS. If you haven’t make sure to enable the brake on the ESC. It’ll save you props or motor mounts on landing 👍🏻

      To be honest, I don’t know. I would think it should, and EdgeTX is a branch of OpenTX.

    What is the Crossfire bug in 2.3.10 exactly you mentioned at the beginning? Is that relating to RXNUM & binding?

    • @MrD

      There is a bug with the telemetry in 2.3.10. It doesn’t send the flight modes over correctly. It will be fixed in 2.3.11.

    Has anyone reported any problems with auto launch? I'm using a radio master , a maTech F405 wing And the standard model V 2. I have auto launch permanently enabled but for some reason no matter how hard I throw it sometimes doesn't progress to launch throttle . I posted a video on the group And pretty much come to the answer that it was a badd flight controller so I installed a new one and everything was fine for a while but now it's doing the same thing. Anyone else having problems?

    • @MrD
      @MrD 3 года назад +1

      Channel 9 on the transmitter should be fine. I suggest using it for autolaunch in the guide, so I know there’s nothing on it in the standard model.
      It the pan is working on the transmitter (you can see the output changing with the slider). You should just need to add a line to the mixer using RC Channel 9, and it will assign that to a servo. After that, it should work.
      One thing I’d recommend, if you haven’t done it; is to add a switch with the pan. That way you can switch it off and have it centre. It means you can’t accidentally knock the pan position too. Which no doubt would happen at completely the wrong moment.

    Noob here. How do I set up Failsafe with this set up and with a F765? Thanks in advance.

    • @MrD
      @MrD 3 года назад

      You’d set the failsafe up the same as usual.
      Choose the correct failsafe method for your receiver (No Pulses for FrSky or Cut for Crossfire)
      Then setup failsafe in iNav. If its a fixed wing with GPS, RTH would make the most sense. But make sure that the model is setup correctly and flying correctly in Angle before you use it.

    I re-played what you said regarding the CRSF bug but cannot understand what you mean. As I am running CRSF I would like to know what I need to watch out for or do in this case please?

    • @MrD
      @MrD 3 года назад

      I think you mean the FrSky bug. I didn’t mention a CRSF bug? It relates to failsafes. I have a video on it. But TL;DR if you experience a failsafe, sometimes half of the channels will be low when reporting to the flight controller that failsafe has ended. This was most noticeable when it was your arm switch and you arm in the high position, as the glitch post failsafe would cause a disarm in flight.

    • @MrD

      Sorry, someone else mentioned it. There is a bug with the telemetry in OpenTX 2.3.10. It doesn’t send the flight modes over correctly. It will be fixed in 2.3.11. @@petebuttons210 it depends on if you plan to use things like the iNav LUA script. If not, then you will be fine. I don’t think 2.3.11 will be much longer, which will fix the bug.

  • @maxun1

    Nice, but people flight airplanes and quads, they do not have an hour to flight switches, just 4 minutes to flight. The more complicated you do the useless it gets.

    • @MrD
      @MrD 3 года назад +2

      Quads tend to have maybe 2 or 3 switches, and fly for about 2-3 minutes. But planes with a flight controller have much more. The more in to planes you get, the more switches and features you end up using. I mean this layout doesn’t even cover specialist things like pan & tilt, flaps, crow, or rates. You also have longer flights with planes. Its rare that I’m only up for 4 minutes. Even my Mini AR Wing can do double that.
      Fair enough, this switch layout isn’t for everyone. And I openly encourage people to learn OpenTX, and come up with their own layouts. But we’ve had plenty of feedback on our other OpenTX models to know that it is the type of thing that fixed wing pilots want. If it helps people get flying quicker, it’s achieved its goals.
