I like Klaus but I know I identify with the pain he's in. He gets high to keep ghosts at bay. Who WOULDN'T be high with that kind of ability?
Yes, but the thing is, even in the show he's:
A) funny
B) handsome, in-shape and young (Ik it's not a fair metric, but really, not every drug addict looks like Robert Sheehan. Being good-looking and young (vs. say, middle-aged or not conventionally attractive) helps with people rooting for you more. It shouldn't, but it does affect perception.
C) caring (as much as someone in his situation can be)
We also know his story and it does help with our ability (or willingness) in sympathizing with him.
