Mud-Skipper Twister XL - Shallow Water Creek Run

- The kit is the Mud-Skipper Twister XL and was assembled with a Harbor Freight 420CC motor. It is extremely easy to assemble. My first run I discovered the trim screw wasn’t long enough, so I would recommend that as an added purchase on the site as well as the cavitation plate. Once the longer trim screw is installed I was able to trim it to just below the surface at full speed. In conjunction with the cavitation plate that is the optimum configuration for speed and shallow depth runs. Top Speed is decent but with a intake and exhaust mod on the engine it would be more than plenty on a 1436 flatbottom like I have it installed.
The fact that it has a trim screw and mounts the way it does makes it extremely easy to operate and very comparable to a traditional outboard. It is not burdensome like a tradition long tail and you are able to relax while cruising in open water without a fight on your hands. Great product and far superior than ANYTHING else on the market. Extremely happy with purchase!
Thanks for those kind words! I think Twisters are far superior to all longtails too! Great video too!
Will see how long the shaft last and future reviews before I would get one cant imagine a flex shaft lasting long .
How many times you fish ? Fish while running ?
Are you still satisfied with the twister kit or would you have opted for a traditional long tail if you had to do it over? I'm getting ready to buy one or the other
2:36 little stream of water dumping in the boat ?
Paulpro PP it sprays a bit around when going full throttle nothing to worry about. It ain’t sinking us lol
Is that a surface piercing prop or no.what size of prop.thanks
Did you have any problem with the motor surging and cutting off..I’m new to mud motors
How's it holding up. Just put one on my boat
What kind of speeds were you getting?
What’s the shallowest you have taken it? Does it preform better in deeper water? What’s your fuel consumption like?
How much does it cost with out the motor
Looks slow my swamp runner is pretty fast what speeds are you getting
Where is the link to order the kit to the tail shaft and the kit
That shallow section that held you up looked suspiciously similar to a section I've run several times on the saline with my thai long tail I think that prop is slowing you up there will they take the 2 blade prop?
nah they only make the 3 bladed ones. its only a few inches deep over the top of that section we could have probably made it if I was by myself the front end drags over the whole thing with my kid in the front. we may give it another go this summer. This is probably a case where an extremely long tail would have benefitted to get back into some deeper water to get thrust.
@@SpokesandRotors damn I like the performance from the two blades but the long shaft is just to much trouble, still think I might get one and see if I can adapt the props
@@lighterguy82 ive really enjoyed it and have no complaints for my uses. That's precisely the reason I went with it I didn't like how cumbersome the long tails where. these have a trim screw that you can set the depth for cruising and I can just sit in the back and steer it with one hand no problem and then still get up shallow and tight turns when I need it
Think theres a kit to adapt prop to 2 blade 🛶
@@SpokesandRotors There is now an adapter which allows you to use Aluminum two blade props, which does improve speed considerably mud-skipper.com/twisters/twister-propeller-adapter-kit-5-7hp-w-6-25-6-5-7-props-352.html
How much does that entire set up weight?
how do you go in reverse or go backwards?
There’s no reverse on these
your throttle cable broke too huuh?
i told them they dont care
cool video
Berapa harga mesin?
Rpm?
To clarify~ my 212cc would walk away from you pushing my 14’48” Lowe big jon
Im in Millstadt Illinois,.. run around all of greater STL.
Looks like your carb is loose at 2:37.
How man mph you do at full throttle?
jsensi92 I have not checked it with GPS at full throttle yet so it’s hard to say. Right now I’m restricted by the output of the engine. I would say it would be comparable to 10hp outboard on this little boat. Once I got the trim right and put the cavitation plate on I got way more output. I plan on putting a better intake and exhaust on the motor next spring and see if I can get more from it but I’m happy with the performance right now as it is.
This is an interesting solution, and im sure it has its uses, (intil the cable over heats and snaps)
That (not trying to be rude just facts) 420 should EASILY push that boat 21/22 mph or more with a PROPER Thai longtail,..
Swamp Runner SPS, everything else is lipstick on a pig, wheel re-invention& “shining a turd”
Trust me man,.. i have two,.. even my 212cc woukd walk away from your setup,..
Get the right setup& you wont regret it.
SPS medium kit, you already have the powerplant
Brian Boyee LOL cool story bro. Clearly you don’t know anything about the construction of my mud motor. First off the “cable” you call it is a flexible drive shaft and is thicker that any long tail shaft out anywhere on the market and it does not create ANY heat whatsoever. I have no doubt I could (or am already) get the speeds you speak of but I have not tested it with a gps yet. The thing that sets my motor apart from your long tails is the ease of use and the ability for me to trim it where I want it and drive and turn it with one hand. I have used long tails and they are a bear to handle. Not to mention the short length allows me to turn in extremely tight creeks where it would be impossible to use a long tail. But yes in the length department you win the measuring contest today 🍆 👍
@@SpokesandRotorslol! your right this is my fav setup and with the prop adapter they offer for a traditional prop it goes even faster! ruclips.net/video/F8XIMbQFxgg/видео.html 23 mph with a 212 and prop adapter and no issue for me with the shaft never heats up. love it
Then show me
Because the setup in this video is a HUGE SLUG
I fell asleep watching
Really really pitiful performance
Brian Boyee hey man I have few questions. I am thinking of going with a sps swamp runner kit n a 212cc. I have a 1436 Jon boat that I duck hunt out of. Will that setup be powerful n push me a good pace? Thought of doing mods but don’t wanna make it loud. Any tips would be awesome
I urge you guys to try, try, and get invited into a group called "high performance tillers Outlaw oosers" on Facebook. Those guys make them 1448s go 55 mph with GPS proof. They'd appreciate the humor in this video.
