Here in 2022. Father in law passed away last week in August 2022. He loved this music and my husband and I would sing it to him a lot. I hope God has helped you in your grief. He is helping me now.

Let me be the first to tell you that Christ died for him. He died horrible death for the sick, not the healthy He said. The real Christian life is about taking up your cross of suffering and carrying it. It's not about creating some perfect little world of fluffy church services and your little Hillsong "worship" concerts.

I could listen to this song every day; over and over. It is amazing how many of their songs call to me; this one as much as any of them. I lost my wife to cancer this past March, and Switchfoot has become, crazy as it may sound, a critical part of my grieving process.

I hope my comment encourages some younger or mid teen years because I know it can be hard to go through with hormones and shit but when I think about it while going back to this song, it was actually the best stuff I've ever done (ofc its different in other instances of being poor etc.) but do whatever man. My third day of listening to this song on repeat. Been listening to Switchfoot since I was 5 or 6. Currently 27. I’m using this song to remember how blessed I am. Despite the trauma in my family, we had our good moments, too. I hear this song and thank God I still have who I have and that I am who I am, rather than becoming bitter because of it all. I’m going to see them in concert one day. Idc how long it takes
I remember my best friend from my old school with this song. We got section seperated and it changed more than I thought. He joined the varsity and my group never trusted the varsity people cuz our school's the type to have bulies or roughhousers as varsity, and he was a really nice guy.
At one point he stopped joining us, cuz he couldnt relate anymore. We just started hatung hum for that and I agreed to hate him. Then we got together when I moved out of the school. For 2 years we got close again, but we havent seen each other still, and we've only been talking online.
I miss him.
I know it’s supposed to be a love song, but it makes me think of playing with my kids when they were really young and before I had health issues.
How can someone write lyrics that encapsulate an experience they weren't around for? This song will always make me think of Summit Semester '07 and my dear friend Aaron, whose life was cut short four years ago this weekend. Love you and miss you like crazy, friend.
