I bought mine 2 weeks ago. I have the newer version, and absolutely love it! …It is also possible your square could be out of square. I see the gap problem tho. I always verify before every cut 👍
A bit of an older review however, more than informative. I have been watching all the reviews that I can as I make up my mind whether to purchase one or not. Most reviews mention nothing about the fence holes being out of position so that you can't cut metal square. I have seen user reviews where they have given it a lower ranking because they say the fence is not square so no square cuts and also, there is blade wobble commented on by some.
Thanks for the feedback. I've not had any blade wobble problems. I've cut allot of steel and some aluminum (with my steel blade). I noticed the other day that I had about 14 chipped teeth in a row on the blade so I ordered a new one. I'm not sure if that was cause by cutting the aluminum with it or not. I think I will try and send the blade out for repair since they are so expensive to replace.
This is late, but if you do cut a (very) small amount of aluminum with your steel blade (don’t cut stainless!) you need to clean all the teeth first and afterwards. Tooth shape is very different. An excellent blade at a good price is the Diablo by Freud. It’s less expensive and is also rated for stainless. It’s what I use. I also have an industrial blade for aluminum. If you do a fair amount of aluminum, you really should get one.
@ I do cut stainless. A lot of it. But I use the Diablo blades which are rated for steel and stainless. Most other blades are either for basic, low alloy steel OR stainless. The Diablo blades are very good and even less expensive than other top blades, about $85 - $90 for a 14” blade.
as much photos showing the tilting parts with shaft can be adjustable i mean losing up and align to the vise.. otherwise it looks very nifty i just planning to buy one
Bought entry level Evolution saw, the fence was not square . Could never get a good 45 or 90 cut . Showed my supplier the issue - they requested a new fence , I got it 5 weeks later and had same issue . Took back to my supplier and bought a Bosch instead , no problems now.

I can't get 90 degrees cut,so if it is needed ,I use bench grinder to fix it little bit. I don't remember any RUclips review mentioning this problem. Buy cheap ,buy twice.
At least you can make yours square. I have the saw with the stamped steel base. My problem is the saw blade is not perpendicular to the bed and there is no adjustment for that. Evolution is of no help. I admit I lost the receipt but I did register the saw. Evolution conviently has no record of the saw being registered so if you do buy one of these boat anchors, whatever you do don’t lose the receipt or unlike other vendors evolution won’t be able to look up the serial number of the saw and tell you when it was purchased.

just got the 380 and no, mine is off about 1/2 °, but a die grinder to the table holes will fix it. what's sucky is the pivot clamp, it's super sloppy, and you can't tighten the locking nut without the clamp binding. having to fix a 500 buck saw is bullshit.

It took a couple of days to get in touch with them. I think that was Covid related. They sent the replacement part I asked for. When I reported back to them that it too was bad, they did not offer a replacement saw or compensation for the trouble.
I ordered their 10 inch sliding miter saw that cuts steel,alum,wood etc..well it showed up DOA with a undamaged box..called Evolution customer service and it went to voice mail..they seem to only respond thru email..but take a day to respond..needless to say they tried that usual bs questions like is it plugged in, it has a soft start feature that takes 5sec to 10sec to start etc..needless to say its a week later still can't cut a stick of butter..they did offer to send a return label but then I would have to take apart the miter saw into many parts and figure out how it was originally packed..plus zero compensation for my time and labor plus their DOA substandard product..I couldn't recommend doing business with such a company..
This guy is full of crap Mike, I bought both the 14 inch and the 15 inch brand new and right out of the box I used three different squares and all three are dead on at 90 degrees both on the table and the rail. Don’t believe everything on the internet. This guy is only after the maximum amount of views. That’s how he makes money

The saw was Dead on arrival..after about 2 weeks back and forth with them they actually refunded my money and told me to keep the dead saw..I then took the cover off the start/ trigger handle and did a continuity test on the cord and found it wasn't connected on the black ( hot) side of the plug..I cut the cord plug off and replaced it..still I can't honestly say I would do business with such a company with zero Quality control..literally the saw was never tested as the wire in the molded plug wasn't connected to the plug blade.. plus the run around with customer service..it was only when I mentioned I would file a claim on my credit card did they offer to refund my money.. so after much frustration I ended up with a saw that cost a $3 plug replacement.. Fein slugger is a much better product built for industrial use vs hobbyist level tools that they make..

I just bought the cheaper version Evolution S355CPSL. The base is stamped steel and flexes like a big spring when I make a cut. The flex happens during the cut and makes the blade bounce around like the blade is out of balance. That is what I thought until I took a big pare of vice grips and held some round stock in line with the blade and under the blade and slowly lowered the blade whale moving the round stock up into the blade [please no one try this it was dangerous and stupid]. I thought if the blade is out of round or uneven the blade would bounce against the round steel stock. I was shocked when the blade sank into the round steel stock with almost zero resistance and zero bounce like a hot knife would sink into butter. So conclusion, the base is bending when the rotating blade enters the steel stock when it is clamped causing the blade to bounce during the cut as the weak stamped steel base flexes and the blade bites then releases then bits then releases resulting in a rapid vibration like action during the cut. I clamped the base to a 1/2 section of aluminum on 3 corners and that took 75% of the bounce out while cutting. solution? Send this thing back or, make a strong thick base plate and ether clamp the cheap stamped steel base to that, or, what I want to do is make a whole new base out of 1" steel plate and use a kurt mill vise to hold my steel I am cutting. Or go all out and make a base like a miter saw that rotates and can index like a miter saw. so the vise hold the stock straight and the saw rotates for angle cuts. If you want a good saw, sorry to say, but do not buy one of these Evolution saws. They seam to be cheaply made perform poorly as old ash and I found out the hard way after money was spent. I am considering returning mine but a much better saw will be a lot more expensive. I am a machinist and have a mill so I might as well just make a huge thick base and hope the saw then cuts right on through the stock with no flex induced bounce. If I make the thick base and the thing still bounces while cutting I'm going to freak the heck out and will then pay to return this thing. Just moved and sold a bunch of stuff in order to move. about 3 yrs ago I found an old beat up ridgid cold saw at a garage sale. Beat up as it was and even with a few teeth missing, I paid 75 bucks for it, took it home and the thing cut through steel like butter smooth as can be. Time to move so I sold it as I thought I'll just get a nice new saw later after I get settled. man I should have kept that old saw as it cut smooth as silk and this new Evolution S355CPSL saw does not. Hope I can fix that. This is what you will get if you buy this Evolution S355CPSL saw and try to save a buck. Spend more and get something better, I wish I would have. sad.
@@Tomherbs I'm going to strengthen the base and see if that cures the flexing. I'll use a 12x24x1/2 plate with risers under each corner of the saw base, bolted down and bridged under the end where the pivot point is. The saw should cut smooth after that. If it still has problems cutting I'll return it and find something better.
I am in the process of trouble shooting this same issue. Sent it in once and they returned it with the same problem. As soon as the blade comes in contact with the material it vibrates bad. They now want me to send in a video of the problem. After reading this post i have a feeling i should just return it.
@@erictranthem6098 You may be able to fix it by making a vary heavy duty base and bolting it down though, I considered that but decided to return it. I now have a super old Milwaukee used unit that cuts like butter and does not vibrate at all during the cut. Trust me Evolution knows all about this problem and why it is happening, they are just stringing you along until you cant return it. They made the base to light and the base just acts like a big spring and flexes during the cut. Your not going to fix this unless you bolt it down to your table or a large thick plate of steel or aluminum. I clamped mine down to the table and it cut better but as I said, I just decided to return it and get something built stronger.
wow.i have a welding table like that.i would never mount anything to it let alone a $500 chop saw,lol.I also have the Hobart welding table and that i could possibly see doing as it is much more sturdy.I use my saw almost everyday so i just cant see it working that great.WOW,1/2 a degree?doesnt look like your building for NASA so im thinking you'll be good!Dont mean to rip on you but I just dont get some people i guess.I use my saw for products I sell and would have never had a problem.Making a mountain out of a mole hill in my eyes.Expensive saw?YES it is and get where your coming from,just dont see what your gaining.nice video either way,

I bought mine 1 1/2 years ago, no problems, looks like they have fixed the issue.
I think loosening the head and adjusting from there with shims etc. will make all of the corrections needed.
I just bought one and haven't used it yet. I hope the problem isn't there but for my needs I can live with it being half a degree off
I recommend using a small machinist square vice the sliding style carpenter square. I've seen too many of these not truly be square....

They sent the part I requested. I did not Pursue a refund because I needed the tool. So I just fixed it myself.

I'm in about 10 minutes. Best guess, the motor mount to the bed needs adjusting.

I think my 5 year old’s plastic patio chair is more square and stable than that welding table you mounted this saw to.
