Mountaineering at the Alphubel 4206m | The biggest Glacier high above Saas Fee | Swiss Alps

The Alphubel with its 4206m is considered by many to be a lightweight 4000s. Technically, that may be true. The normal route across the glacier has great objective dangers. Flo and I came on the normal route from the Allalinhorn on the Feegrat and the Feekopf direction Alphubeljoch. There we enter a glacier that houses huge crevasses. The ascent of the Alphubel additionally makes the ascent under a wall, from which rockfall and icing are to be expected at any time. After passing unstable column bridges, we are in a Serac Zone, where Seracs can break off at any time. We follow the trail and leave the danger zone via various crevasses. The summit plateau is wide and at the summit cross we enjoy the view, which is high above Saas Fee in the Swiss mountains. A fantastic view of the Lagginhorn, the Fletschhorn, Weissmies opens on the one hand direction Saastal. But this colossus has much more to offer: very experienced alpinists can continue on the ridge to the Mischabeljochbaywatch, from where the Täschhorn is climbed. Extremely accomplished alpinists cross the Täschhorn and continue climbing to the cathedral. In the other direction you can see our ascent path (Feekopf & Allalin), behind it you can see the Strahlhorn, the Monte Rosa group (Dufourspitze, Nordend, Liskamm, Signalkuppe, Castor, Pollux, Breithorn etc.), just as we are directly opposite the Matterhorn , Zinalrothorn, Weißhorn, Bishorn, Obergabelhorn. With good visibility you can even see the Mont Blanc.
For us, however, it was due to the rising clouds: DROP!
If you think that the mountain railway in Saas Fee is easy to reach, you are wrong. Again, dangers with the brain have to be overcome. The descent over the glacier leads over hidden crevasses to the mountain station Längfluh. With us the last lift drove at 16.15 o'clock. At the Spielboden station we changed one last time until we reached Saas Fee on this beautiful summer day. After coffee and cake we went to the parking garage and then back to Saas Grund.
All in all a beautiful mountain tour. In short: that's how I imagine mountaineering in Switzerland. Mountaineering for beginners is only conditionally, too big the objective dangers. You better go with a mountain guide if you are not sure.
