Thanks Carl. Great review of this mower. Been thinking about this one and upgrading my 14yr old Troy-Bilt with a w/GVC160 motor. It's been a great mower, but time to take it to the next level now that my lawn is in much better condition.
From a 20 year contractor: Love Honda Mowers and Generators: This unit replaced my 5 year old HRR2116k9VYA model: Like the speed control lever, works excellent. Like the wheel adjustment does Front together and Rear together, labeled big and easy to understand your cutting height. Only change for me to get used-to: Let lever loose and engine stops, albeit first pull start! Other model runs continuously with blade stopped. It's light and easy to manipulate: HomeDepot total $ 444.00 Will pay for itself in 1 work day!
Glad you like the mower! We are an independent dealer the price will be the same but the machine is set up, serviced out, and ready to roll. We also get rid of the cardboard, register the warranty, and stock parts.
There are a lot of people complaining about surging and carb problems on RUclips. The videos of these people complaining are about a 6 months to a year old. Has Honda made an adjustment on the carb or auto choke to fix this? The mower part as far as deck, blades, and mulching bagging switching are pretty cool though.
When it surged it’s because the carb needs some cleaning. For mine: I remove the air filter, start it, leave it running and spray starter fluid in the air box straight to the carb. Runs like a charm. Had it 8 years so far. Changed blades once. A few weeks ago push mowed 3 acres nonstop except for gas. Hurt my body really bad but my sick father in law needed help.
Is there a high-quality Mower that has higher wheels? The wheels don’t make the mower look at the overall build of this machine versus the others in this range.

One of the things I like about the HRN 216 that I own is it when the Transmissions is disengaged, it rolls like a push mower smooth and quiet.

I got mine 2 years ago right when they introduced it and it has been rock solid I do small lawn care business and it rocks never misses a beat enjoy !

The pilot jet gets gummed up. Either spray it out with carb cleaner or run some Sea Foam through it once/twice a season.

Absolutely. It rolls very easy, obviously terrain may have some ill affects 😉
So it’s not real efficient for long grass because there is no side shoot ? But I would to try one out
It still has a chute on it that works like a normal mower, it just comes out of the back and blows straight down.
I have this mower and i find that the bag bounces open on the bottom side allowing grass to fall out. Any solution to this? Thanks!

My self propel on my mower stopped. I checked the belt it’s fine. Is there an adjustment for this tension?
Yes the cable is adjustable. Check your owners manual on how to perform that adjustment.

No you always want to make sure you use the proper blade and never will fit blade. Honda blades run right around $15 apiece
