I was given a 1971 (My birth year) 5512 by one of my mothers old boyfriend. He searched out my mother because he got terminal bone cancer. One time when he was visiting my mother, I had come over. He saw me wearing my 16610 and was so impressed with my knowledge of the brand, that he gave me his watch. The good news is that he is still alive and doing well. I wear his watch whenever we get together. I’ve serviced his watch by a 2nd generation watch make who has new old stock parts. Box papers everything. Is that an incredible gift or what!!

Great review and history on what many consider the most iconic watch ever made. I got my 1966 5512 second hand from a Rolex dealer back in 1973 for $150. It's been on my wrist ever since. In the mid-80's I had the flip lock bracelet installed. I find the somewhat heavier bracelet really compliments the hefty 41mm case.

Great video! Possible next video idea- deep sea sea dweller through the years? Differences in gmt through the years?

For an asking price over 20k it would be bother me that the bracelet is not a matching original.

Both those new ones look identical to me. Great review and subscribed!

That's part of the appeal of Rolex. My 20yr old SeaDweller doesn't look dated and is a great convo starter for watch lovers "in the know"

I love vintage subs. I have a ceramic sub date, feel like if I buy a vintage sub it's too much of the same and that i should go for a vintage GMT or Daytona
