  • Two-Rock Amplifiers routinely appear on the most-wanted Holy Grail lists of guitarists everywhere - including mine. Favored by luminaries like David Ryan Harris, Doyle Bramhall II, and Mayer himself, they're considered one of the best machines out there for matching the touch and intent of the individual player, powering each note choice with effortless bloom and a supply of endless harmonics and chasmic reverb. They're also just downright gorgeous builds - roadworthy but classy, painstakingly wrapped, and finished like they're heading for Pebble Beach.
That kind of hand-built creation does hit a price point that puts ownership out of the realm of a lot of eager guitarists - including me - which is why this MixWave virtual recreation is SO exciting. It IS Two-Rock. I truly have no idea how they've modeled the sensitivity, but it's all there - something I've tried to showcase in this tryout. The transition to breakup is flawless, the response to each pickup selection is immediately inspiring, and the options for tone-crafting put you in the same seat as your favorite player in their favorite studio, and at a price that equals about fifteen minutes of studio and mic rental.
If you've always wanted one of these amps, go try this right now. Seriously. I filled a massive memory card with hours of alternate takes for this video, just because I was having such a blast. Enjoy!
OH, honorable mention - the MixWave Centurion pedal is solid gold. I slapped that on both the bass and drum kit, as well as on the lead tone, and it is every bit the hype-box as the real deal. Look for a tryout of that box coming soon!

🎶 An incredible sound, each note carries such deep emotion! 🎸💙 The talent and passion in each melody is evident. I was impressed by the energy you transmit through each note. 🌟
By the way, if you're interested, I have a channel dedicated to Blues, where I try to put as much soul and feeling into my songs as possible. It would be great to know what you think! 🙌🎶

Thank you for stopping by and for the gracious words! I'm not a practiced blues player by any means, but deeply appreciate a good blues guitar and I will check your channel out for sure. Saúde!

Thanks for stopping by! It’s pretty impressive how they’ve been able to get the emotion of a real amp into the digital world like this. Such a difference from virtual amps of the past.

@@Tonebreakfast Thank you! It's a Gilmour NOS signature model, from 2014 - only mod I've made is to have a new Straplok point installed so I can wear it upside-down. Otherwise, totally stock. I kicked on the pickup blend switch for the fuzzy-bridge solo bit, too, which gets me almost into humbucker territory with single coils.

This plug in sounds great but man it has latency and some firmware issues with popping and output levels

Yeah, I've run into that as well - I sent up a couple bug reports and steps to reproduce, as there are resourcing and stability issues that none of their other plugs have. I was able to get stable in Logic with a 256 sample buffer, and using low latency monitor mode to track. I kicked that up to 512 on overdubs for this video as I was tracking against two or three Bloomfield instances and it stayed stable, but my ideal buffer size (64) wasn't useable.
Highly recommend reporting the issue if you haven't, just to throw a little extra wood on the fire for an updated version. I did this video using the beta version, and if the prod release is still wonky, they should certainly know about it.
