Nice list Tobin! I'm more of the super soft synthetic fiber brush kind of guy, but I'm impressed with what they've been able to come up with in some of these new fibers. Take care!
@@Tobins_throwbacks Not yet! I have one of PAA's early brushes with the same knot that's in the atomic and a couple of their newer knots that I have to do some handles for. I've been kinda saving up to get a super soft horse hair brush, but I'm never sure what will actually come up next. Have a great one!
The brush addiction is hard to break for sure, I have around 25. It's hard to beat Sawdust Creation Studios for unique brushes and I love the wooden ones he does. That G7 knot is awesome as I have one as well. I don't have any PAA brushes but I have 2 of the knots and they are great. Have a great weekend
I only have one wooden-handled synthetic. My badger brushes from Bobby are in wood except for one. My Louisiana Cypress is probably my favorite brush out of all, I have the HMW in it. IMO Bobby's HMW is the best knot anywhere. Have a good one Mike!
@@Tobins_throwbacks I agree HMW is one of the best knots out there. I was just starting out and just using synthetics and I ordered from Bobby and he didn't have anything but his HMW and I took a chance as he said it's his favorite knot and after using it I could tell why. I have ordered nothing but those since.
I still haven't tried a Razorock brush. Thanks Steve, I'll go shopping for one now and see what I can find. Do you buy those from Italian Barber? Or where did you get yours?
Excellent vid, after watching your review of the Astraeus O bought it. Its def my favorite out of all my brushes. I'll grab the Atomic Rocket when I buy Danaids
Tobin, I like that you provide a cost breakdown and best place to find in your video. You can go down a rabbit hole with collecting shaving gear and it can be quite expensive. I recently went on a seek and find of old Shaving Mugs and Vintage brushes. I now have the Old Spice shaving stand with various mugs and an OS shaving brush. The same for Avon Gentlemen's Regiment, Franklin Toiletries, Seaforth, Sears. Burma Shave and Chicago Professional. 😊
Hey Sam you're very welcome! It can get crazy expensive, when I'm watching videos it's something that I look for and appreciate so I tried to include that in my videos when it makes sense to do so. And I appreciate your comment because it encourages me to continue to do it more in future videos. I have the Avon mug and brush. Currently I have a puck of Mitchell's in it I need to do a video with it and when I do I'll be sure to share the brush. Do you have the brush? I don't think I have a Franklin I definitely don't have a Sears do you have a Facebook account or Instagram where we could share some photos? Thanks again and have a good one
Used an extreme density ST-1 brush from Oumo yesterday night. Really phenomenal feeling knot. Closest thing I've gotten to my actual silvertip badger brushes.
@@Tobins_throwbacks I think if you're going to buy one, get it in the hybrid bulb shape, or buy the hybrid fan knot as a loose item. The height they set their fan knots at is a bit floppy for my liking.
Hey man great videos! I understand that after this video, you ve also tried the Oumo St1 and the Semogue Pegasus Alchemy1. Where would you place them? Would any of these two be at the very top? Also, thoughts on the Omega evo 2? Thanks a lot and keep up the great work!
Morning! Correct, I have and I would land both in the top 5. I've actually been thinking about my top five list for 2024. Right now in the mail I have Oumo's ST2 on the way here. I won't compile that list until after it gets here but with that said the ST1 as of now is my favorite synthetic knot. Not sure if you've seen my Brush Review Series. I'll attach a link to the Evo review. In short, I love the Evo however, I feel like today it is overpriced. When it came out it was cutting edge but has lost a little luster while maintaining a Premium price . Hope this makes sense. Have a good one and thank you!
Hey Tobin; I have a Simpson PL10. On the back is the word "POLO" for some reason I don't understand. I like the brush, but a few badger bristles come out every time I use it. Is that fairly normal? Thanks for the video.
Sorry for the late reply. Losing a bristle or two for the first couple shaves is normal but after that it is cause for concern. How many times have you used it and is it still doing it?
Tobin: My Simpson PL10 “Polo” is still losing several bristles each shave after about 50 shaves. Unfortunately, I have retired the brush. I sent an email to Simpson thru Amazon. Requested an exchange. No reply.
I didn't have the Oumo's when I recorded this video. This video was recorded before I purchased them. If you can afford the Oumo ST-1 I recommend it over the Atomic Rocket. If you want something super soft with easy Splay then grab an Atomic Rocket.
I’m never eating that synthetic aids meat but as far as knots go I actually prefer synthetic knots over badger hair, it’s easier for me to get the soap to water ratio in synthetics and you don’t really need to soak the brush
100% I agree! I love both, I view brushes as a tool. And each tool has its benefits. I do use a synthetic slightly more often than a natural. Have a good one brother!
The Trafalgar is a great brush!

Great top 5 Tobin. I have two of them, I think I'll have to grab that black one from Andy's shop.

Nice choices for brushes. I have a idea in my head that I can’t shake and so you may be getting a new brush to try this year
Feeding his addiction 😅 good man!

Sweet! I told you in a text about the two I bought right? Still waiting for them to get here.
@@Tobins_throwbacks yes you did, can’t wait to see them on the channel
I also like Razorock brushes. Great value. Their 400 style in butterscotch and aluminum are 2 of my favorites and also easy on the wallet.
I still haven't tried a Razorock brush. Thanks Steve, I'll go shopping for one now and see what I can find. Do you buy those from Italian Barber? Or where did you get yours?
@@Tobins_throwbacks Yeah, Italian Barber. They just had a sale last week.
I love my Atomic Rocket. I have small hands and love the handle. It makes it so easy to whip up a lather.

The Astraeus 👍👍🔥
For the price...a great synthetic is the 2 band synthetic brush by Stirling Soap Company. More loft than the T3 at under 20 dollars
I have the tuxedo and love it!
Thanks Tobin! This content really helps me find an awesome new brush.
Glad to hear it! Thanks Jeff!
Already looking forward to next years! You make great content!
Thank you!!!
Beauties, all!
Thanks Patrick!
Tobin I like this video because you show how much and where there cost least!
Thanks, Robert! I want to help guys save money when I can. It's why I try and get discount codes when I can.

I may have to grab one of those. I'm super impressed with the Muhle STF

Awesome video Tobin⚡️💈🤩🔥😎🪒💙
Thank you! What's your favorite?
Thats an insane price for a T2
I agree!
I was on Bobby's Etsy page before coming here. Just so that you're aware, as of at least May 2024, Bobby has both the fan (G5) and the bulb (G7).
Thanks Fred, he and I were just talking about this a few weeks back. It's time to get a new brush from him.
Have a good one!

Brother!!
Howdy bro, at the moment I'm reaching for the smaller brushes.
Have a great Sunday and stay safe 🤜🤛😎🪒
Mike! There are so many great ones to choose from! Have a great weekend brother!
Hi Tobin, I think you love brushes as much as I do! One of the best parts of this hobby! Best regards, Glenn
