Hi, two questions did you test the H3 ANC after having updated the firmware? Supposedly they sound better according to their store page. And could you try to use the QCY app, set the EQ to custom default and then squig them? Because I suspect these are like the QCY T17 where the default setup and the custom one do not match.
Hi! Firmware was up to date when measured and recorded with the binaural mics. I will do the custom default measurement at some point over the weekend and upload it to squig - I'll comment here when it's up 👍
Hey Regan, found your channel through your Creative Zen Hybrid Pro SXFI review. I have also noticed that AutoEq has the frequency response for the headphones credited to you which was apparently recorded with KB500x + 711. Would you think about doing a video on how to create similar frequency response graphs? I know that there are some cheaper and more accessible tuning equipment in China and if people knew how to create "good enough" response graphs for their particular headphones, they could apply AutoEq on it for better sound. You are one of the reviewers who create graphs for niche headphones, thank you.
No problem! Yes, the developers of Autoeq contacted me a while ago and asked if they could use the measurements I host at regancipher.squig.link in their app, which I was more than happy to allow. I could do a video on how to measure etc, and may well do that at some point if there's enough interest. I picked up my 711 clone on AliExpress for a couple of hundred dollars, so it is fairly accessible depending on how invested you are in the hobby
Seems to me that the edifier 700 has a better sound performance. It sounds a bit softer than the rest. The creative seems very flat to me, while the edifier 820 has less bass and better channel separation than the rest.
Fair comments. It's why I upload these samples as well as reviewing products - everyone has a different idea of what good sounds like to them. Hope you found it useful - thanks for sharing your comments!
I have qcy ht05 and qcy ht07, I use them both very much. I'm curious about Qcy H3, what do you think of the sound quality? By the way, I have the non-plus version of Edifier W820, anc is very good, but the sound quality is terrible, there is no resolution, no bass.
Do you mean sound quality or sound signature? Because the 820NB+ is lean on bass, but it has less distortion when you EQ the bass up than, for example, their 700NB which are bassier by default, but you can hear the distortion much easier when you EQ them to sound the same. The H3 are ok. The sound is bassier than the 820NB+. Did you listen to these samples with headphones on? As it will give you a good idea of how they sound compared to the 820. I think the H3 are good value, but the transparency mode is a bit annoying as the white noise is very strong
820NB+ is better - ruclips.net/video/LAwiiHSu8wY/видео.html - it has better ANC and sound. 700 folds better and has better battery life, but those things don't bother me as much
ruclips.net/video/giWnzljp-sE/видео.htmlsi=gsznoKARgnCEBmhk - this is the version that actually got released, the version in the video didn't get the copyright approvals so it never made it to the public domain. Shame as it was a banger!
Ok so I tested today. WH820NB+ blows them all away. Indoors H3 is strongest on lower frequency sounds but bad on voices. All the other models are around the same. Creative has the most balanced ANC across all frequencies. Outdoors - Creative probably the weakest, then S35, then 700NB. H3 next, some way behind 820NB +

The Qcy H3 Sounded very Muffy in my opinion (I liked it the least) The Haylou was a little better and The Edifier Wh700Nb sounded like a reduced version of the 820nb which is good the 820NB sounded nice with less bass than the Creative zen but I fell like the voice was a little better the Creative has an excellent bass amount and the voice was good, I think that the Creative one is the winner followed up by the 820 and 700 the Haylou but for some reason the QCY H3 sound really bad.
