I was at this gig. I was 15. I brought a battered old acoustic guitar and played songs for people waiting in the queue. About a year or so later, I asked Peter if I could play a support slot at one of their gigs. I knew a lot of people from other bands and stuff who were fairly close to him (Zach from Special Needs, Ben Bailey from Thee Unstrung etc.) so I was able to have a telephone conversation with him. He said yes, and I did get to play a support slot at one of their gigs in Leeds - unfortunately, it was a no-show from Peter. But I did get to go on after The View. And a girl from my year at school who I had quite a crush on was in the crowd and told everyone at school about it all through the next week. The camera crew from the gig in this video were there and recognised me, and were amused to see that I'd gone from fawning fan playing Libertines songs in the queue for a Babyshambles gig to getting a support slot at a Babyshambles gig. I met a crazy guy at that gig, trying to blag me for guestlist, haha, who ended up becoming my best friend. Good times.
Probably still the best gig I've ever been to, honestly. And I've been to a LOT of gigs. Gemma's drumming absolutely on point, she always had that heavy sound making good use of the toms, Drew's bass is nice and solid, Pat's guitar work is just fucking magic, and Peter was on top form that night. Even though some of the songs were new even to people like me who'd listened to all the demos floating around, it was really, really special.
I miss this. They were the most exciting band around, I adored them. As much as I still love Doherty, this was the pinnacle for me. God, I loved that band.
This was definately the best line up pat was a quality guitarist they were never quite the same when he left in my opinion, i was at this gig and saw babyshambles live loads and seen pete solo live loads back in the day
@@gemmaclarke213 You really were 1 4th of the biggest band in Britain at the time (I'm meaning an actual fan base who would come at the drop of a hat (trilby) to see y'all play) and it all came together here.. It could never last though imo and I'd love to ask if you ever see this are you sad that it's over or happy cos it happened? Possibly a bit of both? With the untapped potential or did it all come together 4 the "lightning in a btl moment". Sorry for rambling about d 'shambles Gemma, hope you are still playing.

And me , love the Shambles good scene in those days with the Strokes aswell but the shambles were great….
The last true great era of bands like Babyshambles unfortunately. The early naughties were such a brilliant time to be young.
This line up too with Pat and Gemma. Unreal
Babyshambles were never the same when Gemma and pat left. This is just amazing
Pat is just another level.
Gemma on the drums was ace, gutted she didn't stay long term

This was one of the best full sets Pete’s ever done especially the sheepskin tearaway and then Kilimanjaro fuckin classic
His best condition.... Musically... ❤️
Ah the memories. If I could go back intime I would just to watch this gig again. Patrick was on fire
