Up the Shambles - Live in Manchester is a live DVD of Babyshambles, recorded in 2004 and released in 2007.
I miss this. They were the most exciting band around, I adored them. As much as I still love Doherty, this was the pinnacle for me. God, I loved that band.
And me , love the Shambles good scene in those days with the Strokes aswell but the shambles were great….
The last true great era of bands like Babyshambles unfortunately. The early naughties were such a brilliant time to be young.
I think Patrick Walden might be one of the greatest guitarists of all time. The way he plays is so intelligent, very subtle and in a way that blends rhythm and lead seamlessly. He also understands how to use space and when not to play. He is immaculate throughout this entire gig dropping perfect solos and impromptu licks. Absolutely slick as fuck, it's a damn shame he wasn't around for longer as their guitarist.
Gemma on the drums was ace, gutted she didn't stay long term
Hiiiii!! Thankyou! I love watching this video, we were proper smashing it then! So much fun. So much love xxxx
@@gemmaclarke213 rate it Gemma, hope you’re still playing the drums. The Indie bands miss you
@@wonderwall1994 ah I love watching these old shambles vids, such good times! I am playing again. Check us out! JW Paris xxx
@@gemmaclarke213 I love you
@@gemmaclarke213seen shambles loads...you and pat fucking rocked it! Pete had a class band 👌
Pat is just another level.
Through all the chaos and prison, the man just kept improving at his craft. (writing) theres a work ethic there in how he approaches his writing.
Heroin is an awful drug, but Peter Doherty's an absolute genius, need more like him and Joe Strummer
Yes it is a horrible drug and the guy has been clean for years.
Pat is a genius on guitar,my guitar hero definitely 😁💯💥😁
Pat was amazing here and pretty much always
a rock man of course, excellent big band great lyrics and great punk rock atittude, legends for me
Punk indie blues no rock at all
@@albertharvey5813 Punk is literally call 'Punk Rock'
Babyshambles were never the same when Gemma and pat left. This is just amazing
They were so great on this tour, saw them in Leeds and will never forget it.
Early Shambling 😎 still have this on dvd along with the Rhythm Factory gig
Ah the memories. If I could go back intime I would just to watch this gig again. Patrick was on fire
Great drumming too
❤️
Please comeback to babyshambles! I spoke to patrick and his game!!! Killamangiro belongs to you 😎👌@gemmaclarke213
I saw these guys a year later. Just before Gemma left. Pat left after that. Newcastle Uni 2005. Packed sweaty and full of passion.
His best condition.... Musically... ❤️
Thank you so much for uploading this!!!
My pleasure!
Thanks and Up the Shambles!!
This was one of the best full sets Pete’s ever done especially the sheepskin tearaway and then Kilimanjaro fuckin classic
I fking love ya for uploading this m8 , cheers
The bold Gem-Gem, what Groove!
❤️
@@gemmaclarke213 You really were 1 4th of the biggest band in Britain at the time (I'm meaning an actual fan base who would come at the drop of a hat (trilby) to see y'all play) and it all came together here.. Pure power from the back, you and Drew holding it down to let the free spirits of Pat and Pete do what they do best. I just can't imagine what it was like being in the middle of that with the press and the stupid "potty Pete" crap they'd write while never mentioning the music. It could never last though imo and I'd love to ask if you ever see this are you sad that it's over or happy cos it happened? Possibly a bit of both? With the untapped potential or did it all come together 4 the "lightning in a btl moment". Sorry for rambling about d 'shambles Gemma, hope you are still playing.
@@damotheman4196 ah you legend! I am (and was) sooooo excited to be in that band. This was the best version of Babyshambles, in my humble opinion heheh! The 4 of us were the perfect mix, the perfect chemistry… I am so up for the OG reunion, it’s 20yrs next year so there’s time to dust of the cobwebs 😉
I have put it to the boys before and will continue to do so.. I still watch these videos and listen to it all regularly, we were the F@*king Bow-Locks and we can easy do it again! ❤️ (I’m in the mighty JW Paris, check us out on the usuals: Insta, Spotify, RUclips etc etc) xxxxxx
@@gemmaclarke213 Glad you know your worth Gemma, as well you should. Pete said the exact same in the book regarding a reunion "never say never" he mentioned the anniversary too.. Its great to see the Libs getting to have a victory lap (and get paid too, which some people seem to have an issue with🤷♂️😂) I always say this incarnation was the best too, because by the time "shotters nation" was being recorded the "rawness" was gone a bit, still love it but the 3 albums seem like different bands! That's great to hear you still play Gemma I will check out the JW Paris stuff for sure.. Its great you can look back at it like that..and yes of course ye could do it again.. I believe ye deserve a victory lap also (those albums couldve been recorded yesterday) thanks for the reply, delighted to see you in seemingly chipper form, thats what it's all about. All the best to you and yours. 😎
Babyshambles just made Petes sound and grew a unique beautiful chaos. I’m libertines always but this was history made Babyshambles maybe best band in the world!!! Nothing will ever come close to this
This was definately the best line up pat was a quality guitarist they were never quite the same when he left in my opinion, i was at this gig and saw babyshambles live loads and seen pete solo live loads back in the day
Fucking great🤘
Brilliant!!!
I love this band and this gig so much! ❤
Classy stuff. Wish the libertines played some shambles stuff when playing live!
In a nutshell 🙌👍🙏🍻🕺👏👏
What a good gig, thanks for the up load 💗
Well I wonder was haunting, beautiful.
Greatest line up greatest gig ❤
Thanks for the upload !
Thanks!!!!
Pat da best
Just fucking brilliant ¡¡¡
This is the line up
Beautiful gig
THANK YOUUUU!
21:00 was this the first time they played this? no one in the crowd is reacting as if they know the lyrics
Last song “ Wolfman” sounds like a cramps song…. But shure it’s about drug buddy Peter wolf?
No it's defo a Pete (and maybe wolf man) co-write. There was a lot of those in those days. Early 'shambles were an exciting band.
@@damotheman4196
Right👍🏽. To this day we still love Pipedown and Fuck Forever !! Total Bangers . I’m a yank and still follow Pete’s every incarnation 🤙🏽
@@libertard6101 "matt, I just spoke to pat they said they want their money back oh you better pipedown" I've always loved that little phrase, cos it don't just mean put the "Pipe down" it also means you better shut up.. They were literally rolling around Britain in a big tour bus, tryina get their own money from the promoters and immediately get smashed. We never knew if they'd make it! Im glad Peter made it out the other side, Reading his book atm says "never say never" to a 'shambles reunion, but I'm not too sure it'd work.. Plus it probably wouldn't be good for their health.. I love "8 dead boys".. Love the Pat Walden playing on that 1st album too. Hope they make it over to you in some incarnation man!
@@damotheman4196
Yah read it a few times , great 👍🏽. Pete’s not happy with tho , lol.
I’m want to recommend Gordon Raphael s … new memoir ( the strokes engineer) . Great book he lived with the wolfman and had encountered Alan wass rip !! 🤙🏽

@@Lib94 thanks for that. She's got a very nice voice. She sounds familiar and the name rings a bell too.
@@matthewjdouglas6471 Used to be the singer in a band called "One Dove" before meeting Peter Im pretty sure..
Love Klinghoffer, but RHCP should have hired Walden when Frusciante quit.
