Incredible images, track looks so hard, most of the athletes crashing show that us mortals couldn't even walk the trail, imagine riding a full DH 29er. Riding skills are insane, body english at his best. What a beautiful sport Downhill is!
@@badwrong6362 i dont see any riders complaining about it tho. Dh is dangerous and thats common knowledge i dont think any rides of this level will be disappointed by a more difficult track
@@ApostolosK06 Safety came up everytime the riders were interviewed about their union and the upcoming Discovery take over. I don't remember what part of what track was it, but some riders were saying they need a voice the union provides to avoid similar sketchiness in the future. Probably not in this track but it is a growing concern among the riders.
This track is on the mellow side… mud is tricky and dangerous anywhere and can’t really be avoided. Biggest danger in this course is the straight shoot with tons of pads on the side
The double drop, and the next turn, and the steep bit following it into the woods and that right-hand sloppy mess of a berm. Red Bull should just have 4 or 5 cameras for that whole section.
When I started riding 15 years ago I had Specialized Big Hit. Coil damper worked in a way that after landing it would throw your tail back in the air when the coil decompressed and I often ended up going over the bars. Its amazing how suspension work nowadays. And with equipement we can buy now, riding dh/enduro became so much safier. I cannot express how much respect I have for engieneers.
@@BFBMTb Why are people telling me over and over to adjust rebound of a schock I had 15 years ago that didnt even work properly. 😄 I have fox float x2 now on my brand new Propain 😂
LOL exactly. Plus Platty was even steeper than Snowshoe. Plus there would be more of those big drops and the rocks moved every run. So glad I got race there often. What a mountain
Why the hell not?! 😂 it's racing! The WC circuit isn't about racing in dry conditions, it's about racing in all sorts and putting all athletes to the test. Lots of racers and spectators enjoy a good slop fest thrown in the mix of dry or dusty trails.
@@323johnnybravo of course its racing 😂 get a grip haha(pun intended) 😛 it's part and parcel of racing downhill. It happens in world cups, national races every as well as other races. It's nothing new and it's exactly what the racers signed up yo get along with races in good weather as well. I've raced in the UK in worse conditions, the race had to get called off because of lightning and me and loads of others were gutted, we'd have happily carried on.
Yes, Downhill has an impact like many other outdoor sports and other human activities such as mining, deforestation... In the case of Downhill, I believe that there is a whole study of land management so that it is compensated in some way that does not cause so much damage. To think that just walking on a trail has an impact, we will not touch nature. I don't like motocross doing 2 meter grooves on the trail and some other sports that cause impact but I respect each one, it's up to Organs environmental agencies to decide whether or not to have the event on a certain trail. I think you don't like MTB, OK respect everyone.
@@stonewp Of course it does. I think it's absolutely fine to accept that for a worldcup (as it's limited to one weekend and one trail). Outside of that, mountainbikers should consider when and where to ride, especially in muddy conditions trails can tear up a lot, which is not great for anyone including the mountainbikers in the longer term.
That place is constantly maintained by Snowshoe staff, and will be pampered for many years to come. Maybe point your concern to actual destructive things like mining, gas drilling, etc.
That sticky muddy SOUNDs are so satisfying. 🚴🚴🚴🚴🚴

Its showing that the course on this condition is dangerous and is probably one of the reason the riders are unionizing.

just what I was thinking
The double drop...incredible skills! And easier than going around by the looks. Blimey.
Boy am I glad I've never ridden Windrock in these conditions. The place is hard enough when the trails are prime. 😅

I’m still riding an 07 big hit, slow down the rebound and you’re on to a winner 🔥🤌

Proper east coast, Appalachian gnar
Nice to hear the patter of tyres and the buzz of the freehub instead of that racket of air-horns, chainsaws and cow bells
Those bikes are amazing.
It will be interesting to see what "race pace" is this weekend and who's going to push the limits.
Yes they seemed to be playing it cautious here I noticed too. Understandable, it looks treacherous!
Sick Track☠🤘
it's like trying to hold on to a slippery eel!
pretty much 2 out of every 3 races I ever did at Plattekill!!!
I raced there in the late 90's to mid 2000's and can confirm👍

Good filming and everything but where is the end of the track? 🤔
Wow very good
Straight up Jiffy.
Holy cow. That first gap through the two trees. I'd definately hit one of them if not both.
Mint 🤘🏻
whys everyone running the same brown paint job
Gnarly!
o, this is where al the rain of western europe went this summer..
Why don't they hold this out west somewhere, like Colorado, where the course is way more likely to be dry?
Everyone looks like they shat themselves.
10:08 that high line has looked better all weekend
what happened to the rider in the opening shot? looks like they got K.O? but never hit their head?
Finally the day for the "Weatscream" has comr

What's with the whistle's?

Magnus Manson I think, if not Connor fearon
A literal sh*t show… I’m not a fan of slick mud+sharp rocks. So dangerous.
