The coaches are for travelling between two regional towns such as Tamworth to Dubbo or Grafton to Moree while the trains are for travelling between regional towns and Sydney.
Really ihteresting, thanks Josh. I live in Junee, so I'm well-placed for easy train access to Melbourne, Sydney, and intermediate points. Not so much if I want to go to nearby places off the main line. But, we all have positives and negatives of where we live and I'm happy to have left Melbourne years ago. Keep up the good work, cheers!
You should try the bus train replacement services between Sydney and Bankstown. Some they dug out of a bus Museum, have no shock absorbers, have to run the small back streets with speed humps and round a bouts. Talk about being thrown around like a sack of potatoes? Sheer torture especially in summer when the air con doesn’t work and people are left behind at bus stops because there is no room left to pick them up. No seats or toilets at the bus stops either. Sheer torture. .
Considering you can get a coach to adelaide, I do wonder why the broken hill xplorer hasn't been converted into an XPT to adelaide. The track is standard gauge all the way.
The direct Canberra> Bathurst route isn't serviced by PT at all and would be more popular than Tamworth>Dubbo; the only way to complete this trip is to go via Sydney. I note that there is currently a bus trial between Cowra and Canberra; they possibly should extend this route to Bathurst. There is also the bus connection via Cootamundra but again, takes all day like the Sydney route!
It's sad how broken our train system is. Just 2 years ago I travelled from Sydney to Canberra then to Wagga Wagga and Tumut then to Griffith and Junee and back home. Despite most of the trip being serviced by trains, almost none of the morning options included trains. I spent 1 hour total on actual XPTs, Wagga Wagga to Junee
Thanks! Maybe one day I might, I’ll kind of need to be able make a few things out of it to make it worthwhile though. If the opportunity is there I’ll do it!
And you can't take a bus from.Tamworth to Armidale, so that would be a 19 hour overnight trip by train leaving Tamworth at 3.30 pm and coming back the next morning leaving Armidale at 8.30. No toilet for a four hour bus trip? What happened to accessible transport? The motto for regional public transport should be *Welcome to the 1970s". Would people in capital cities put up with any of this?

Nice video! Can you do a video on the Casino-SurfersParadise coach in the near future? 🙂

They use those for school buses sometimes.
Very enjoyable josh. Good genuine over 👍
On longer regional bus services there are mandatory meal breaks of up to 40 mins. Usually at a roadhouse in middle of nowhere.

That XPT idea would be so successful. Great idea
You have impressive stamina to try out these routes with nothing to see or do!
Haha, thanks. It may see boring to some, but if I’m not going somewhere I’m sitting at home going nowhere, and that’s boring to me 😆

Australia is stuck in the 70's
(Cough) (cough) Grafton Bus Crash, Kempsey Bus Crash

Tamworth and Armidale are on the same line - it's a 2 hour train trip
You won’t get any sympathy from me as a western Australian for that! We don’t even have local buses in most regional towns
❤❤
I would do the bus trip myself.
No way would you see me doing this by choice
