I don’t know if Pokemon fans watch Pokémon, i think that most just play the video games (Sword and Shield is NOT worth it, but you can always just download roms or something- of the main games, G5 has the best story, but G4 has the best gameplay- spin-off games tend to be superior, however) (The Pokémon Special manga is also very good, but I think that even less people follow it than those that follow the anime- which, to be fair, is easily accessible and basically free to watch, as well as being simple and appealing to small children)
Same, it pleases my imaginative brain. When i saw these realistic pokemon i just imagined a movie with the idea of a huge catastrophic phenomena occured around the planet. Massive earthquakes are happening all around the globe causing a tremendous loss of human and animal lives then tsunamis happened. After all of those events, some sort of interdimensional portals suddenly appeared on certain parts of earth in the visage of huge surface cracks and ruptures, like fault lines splitting countries and continents, on the earth's surface, products of the earthquakes. Then they appeared out of the portals, the pokemons. After 50 years, the appearance of earth is now quite different from that of it's former self, continents are split, and some countries are either split or severely damaged or sunk, only few governments are existing, barely 500 million humans are left trying to survive this new damaged world full of these mysterious, mythical and magical creatures that could either kill them or help them survive.
What’s funny about at arcanine is that canines were originally very similar to felines, and were ironically out competed by those felines who had the traits they’d lost many years ago, such as retractable claws, and a couple other things that I honestly forgot

Its so interesting at 2:05 when he talks about raflesia plants, in the French version of Pokemon, Vileplume is actually called Raflesia, the flower even looks like Vileplume
Blastoise looks like an alligator snapping turtle. Leafeon also has the face marks of a sloth to make the moss feature more obvious like you mentioned. Groudon reminds me more of a carnotaurus instead of the tyrannosaurus that you showed. I was expecting Arcanine to be based off a tibetan mastiff or a leonberger instead of a feline, but it looks awesome either way. My favorite interpretation is Dragonite.
that was because arcanine was planned originally to be a legendary, but the pokemon team was half way through their blunt before they realized four legendary dog pokemon was too much and decided to nerf the big doggo.
my favorite was gengar as it is one of my favorite ghost types. the way its biology looked like a terrastial bat was amazing and looked like something that would be awesome to find in the wild.
The combination of your editing skills/enthusiastic explanation and his outstanding illustrations made for a very interesting video. I'll be definitely waiting for a second part!
I've always seen Palmers work as being foremost about Turing Pokémon into bizarre version of normal day animals with realism taking a slight backseat (in a good way). I absolutely adore his work and I would have never imagined a video like this would be made on him. I also can't believe that he worked on the detective Pikachu movie, I honestly have no idea how I could have forgotten that lol.
I'd like to see a somewhat believable realistic explanation of how the physiology of some of these pokes works and what the internal anatomy would look like.
I’ve been a fan of this creators work for years. I absolutely love how thoroughly the mix in their Pokémon to the point where most people wouldn’t even fully notice the ones found in the picture. Like how there’s ninjasks around the venusaur as well as their sheddings (shedinja) and the Bulbasaur is eating a nincada. Charmander is carrying a caterpie in its mouth and there’s a staryu on Blastoises arm as well as a few tynamo. I still remember when he got hired for detective Pikachu and I’m so glad he was it just made the movie designs all that better.

these all look great. although this is just my personal taste but I would've preferred if realistic garchomp's arms to have resembled pteranodon wings(albeit smaller muscle membrane only on the forearms) more than what seems to be similar to shark fins so it has more control its arms, can use them to balance its upper body as well as can more effectively use the spikes on them in combat.
It was planned to be a legendary in the game, and even the Anime shows it in the 2nd episode in a picture with the 3 legendary bird pokemon. But it isn't a legendary and will never be! Stop calling it a legendary, that is irritating!
the two people in the replies have no idea, its hilarious. Every pokemon has a title for it, picked by the creators of pokemon. For example, Pikachu is electric mouse pokemon. Arcanine's title is "legendary pokemon"

I can’t say that I was expecting any of these adaptations! So creative and detailed! Awesome
So, Gengar's evolution went from not needing wings to fly to flying with wings to not flying at all? I like it, but damn, nature did real life Gengar dirty.
Its even more dirty as Gengar lost its ability to float in the game once its fully evolved
I mean, yeah. Nature is real weird with evolution, just look at the seahorse.
@@skyrander Gengar can fly in anime
@@pratikpatil8543 the anime makes all of its own rules up anyway
They also did garchomp dirty
This is some amazing art. I'd so play a game featuring these models. A more grown up version of pokemon on PC.
@@mousek801 this is the correct response
For real. That would be amazing
Pokemon Black?🙂
Also why limit it to PC? I'm sure it could be a console hit as well.
Palsworld?
@@Daviticus042most likely in a super realistic game consoles would lag soooooo much
These are so cool and creative! I remember seeing a couple of these when I was 10 and thought they were weird. I guess now that I'm older I appreciate the work put into this.
Dragonite: "she turned me into a newt!"
Garchomp: L A N D S H A R K
I mean that's literally what Garchomp is supposed to be so it makes sense. XD
I freaking LOVE the Hounter because he says in the DevientArt post that the belief that they're ghosts stem from people encountering them in caves where it was too dark to see their wings, they just saw this weird purple thing floating around
These renderings are so beautiful. He does these Pokemon so much justice. Especially my pal Blastoise!
The Gastly/Haunter ears looking like eyes are so unique
Now THIS is epic. Imagine a t rated pokemon game with realistic art style....
T rated doesn't necessarily mean adult. I just want a pokemon game that tackles darker subject matter, not necessarily edgy or anything like that.
@:O🍡 aaah I understand, I also don't really understand why people want edgy adult stuff in pokemon, do you think any one will take it seriously? I want darker subjects, not crude adultness, remember when gen 1 implied that a war happened? I want more of that stuff explored
@:O🍡 heh, glad we could gone to an agreement
A pokemon game like majoras mask would be truly awesome
Legends: Arceus was close
8:35 You can also see that the Reimagined Gastley's ears look like eyes
Its so interesting at 2:05 when he talks about raflesia plants, in the French version of Pokemon, Vileplume is actually called Raflesia, the flower even looks like Vileplume
The Gastly and Haunter ones are mind blowing. Nintendo should canonize this interpretation of them haha
I'd love to see a monster hunter type game with these monsters.
Imagining these realistic Pokemons saying their names in human like language is kinda terrifying
Pickachu : *pickachu*
Human : *Confused screaming*
I prefer game voices.

Iirc in his description they don't. They make animal sounds (like in the video games)
I've always loved his interpretation of the Eevees and Reshiram!
I take back that I want pokemon in real life 😅😅🤣
I remember looking at this guy's art years ago and loving it, and I still love it today.
Fun fact: the original Nidoking is based on the Godzilla kaiju Baragon
Rydon probably too.
“So first we will be looking at the kanto region”
Puts garchomp in
They also called arcanine A legend ary
@@krustaceanSG
Because it's called the "Legendary Pokémon". It SAYS so in the games, if you bothered to pay attention.
that was because arcanine was planned originally to be a legendary, but the pokemon team was half way through their blunt before they realized four legendary dog pokemon was too much and decided to nerf the big doggo.
@@Alizudo officially, arcanine is a pseudo legendary

I like how the ghost pokemon’s are actually bat’s, it’s really clever and creative.
my favorite was gengar as it is one of my favorite ghost types. the way its biology looked like a terrastial bat was amazing and looked like something that would be awesome to find in the wild.
I wished we got a whole line of promo cards like this from this dude. I buy those.
The combination of your editing skills/enthusiastic explanation and his outstanding illustrations made for a very interesting video. I'll be definitely waiting for a second part!
So cool! This really brings my fantasy of recreated dinosaurs and pokemon to life!
(those are axolotls not salamanders btw)
Still a salamander
Apologies are salamanders
I've always seen Palmers work as being foremost about Turing Pokémon into bizarre version of normal day animals with realism taking a slight backseat (in a good way). I absolutely adore his work and I would have never imagined a video like this would be made on him. I also can't believe that he worked on the detective Pikachu movie, I honestly have no idea how I could have forgotten that lol.
Just wanna say that your videos are a treat every time you upload. I always look forward to it!
Glad you like them, thanks for watching!
Same here! Every upload feels like a trip to a new world
I would love to see a fan-made Pokemon game with realistic art like this.
I'd like to see a somewhat believable realistic explanation of how the physiology of some of these pokes works and what the internal anatomy would look like.
In VR so people can see just how terrifying pokemon would be if they were real
never in a million years have i thought u would be making content on pokemon. i think imma subscribe now
I’ve been a fan of this creators work for years.
I would pay big money to see "Realistic Pokemon" in a MOVIE?!
I would love to see a more real life version of golisopod, my favourite Pokémon 🗿
It’s an isopod…just bipedal? And a lot larger?
I've never loved Pokemon any more than this, this seems so good it's like an actual documentary of another planet or dimension
I love 90% of these drawings and ideas flipping fantastic job.
One of the best videos I've found. This is taking Pokemon realism to a whole new level. I think I need the book!
0:29 *WHAT!?!?*
you mean that *absolute genius* that makes *utter masterpieces* over in Deviantart is behind the pokemon designs of Detective Pikachu!? that's awesome!
...
"oh, give that man a bloody medal!"
for his work on Detective Pikachu, he should have won awards.
and if someone is palnning on making a film with realistic pokemon, hire him!
This looks like a fusion of Pokemon and Monster Hunter. Great work!
These Designs would make up to a great movie! Imagine roaming through a world ruled by these Creatures
these all look great. although this is just my personal taste but I would've preferred if realistic garchomp's arms to have resembled pteranodon wings(albeit smaller muscle membrane only on the forearms) more than what seems to be similar to shark fins so it has more control its arms, can use them to balance its upper body as well as can more effectively use the spikes on them in combat.
Arcanine is a legendary!!!!
(Only true Pokemon fans would understand)
Sense when was Arcanine legendary?
It was planned to be a legendary in the game, and even the Anime shows it in the 2nd episode in a picture with the 3 legendary bird pokemon. But it isn't a legendary and will never be! Stop calling it a legendary, that is irritating!
the two people in the replies have no idea, its hilarious. Every pokemon has a title for it, picked by the creators of pokemon. For example, Pikachu is electric mouse pokemon. Arcanine's title is "legendary pokemon"
Me: if espeon was real, i would catch it! It looks sooo adorable!
Me after seeing what espeon in a realistic art style: actually I changed my mind-
Edit: 8:31 Jesus Christ I wouldn't want that in my house
Live action, more adult (rated R) movie with these concepts would be absolutely insane!!
The creativity in some of these is absolutely off the charts
Bro these are really well thought out and how I would actually picture pokemon being real. Alot people who try to make them realistic don't change the eyes but these were amazing
Imagine putting these concepts in real life and putting them in zoos.
I'd think garchomp would be more of a semi-aquatic cause of its tail design, maybe more similar to a crocodile
As a ground type it is weak to water. Garchomp was always nonsensical to begin with though. Take a hammerhead shark smash a raptor into it, make it ground type and weak to water and then depict it flying without any technical ability to do so.
@@ScionStorm1 pretty sure they were going for the "land shark" trope but kinda muddled it up a bit on the way.
@@ScionStorm1 Oh yeah I forgot it was a ground type
Its based on cephadrome
