Cardboard Majesty. She truly lived up to her name. She was the most luxurious ship in the fleet. Her turbine engines helped propel her to being the fastest CCL ship ever built, and she still holds that record, even as a wreck. During a sail through Alaska, her hull was damaged in a storm, sealing her fate, and promising she would live the same way all of her late sisters would. Sinking bow down, the rooms began to flood, and portholes, noted cheap glass, cracked open, drowning those inside of said cabins. Water washed over her razor bow, but she continued moving until the propellers were high in the sky. Eventually the water stopped washing over the bow, and stayed with it. The superstructure continued to dip below, until eventually, the entire mighty boat was gone below the waters. Such a shame to see such a beautiful ship go down in a flash, taking 1412 souls with her of the 1679 passengers.
My story: It was on a storm, waves were high, the passengers were enjoying their time, it was a little slippery the survivors said. “It was getting stronger and stronger” says Mr. Cardboard. Someone got swept of the bow by a huge wave, hitting the wall, dying instantly. It started leaning forward, cargo room flooded so then people in their swept against bags and against the walls injuring them if not killing them. It was thought to be unsinkable, there was no lifeboats. Lower decks flooded. The ship tried to get to land, then the proppelers got out of the water, some jumped before proppelers were in the air, some swam away, some got cut up. Then the water made it to passenger decks, people were running, it was crowded, they were in warm water at least, and had life jackets, that’s how Mr. Cardboard lived. Waves cracked open windows, water started spilling in fast! It was sinking quicker and quicker. The water made it to the captains deck smacking him off his feet, the bow came out of the water and he hit the cardboard, he was saved by a passenger. People had to swim away cause the waves would smack them back to the ship. Then it got steep so people started falling to the front where water was, they either drowned or swam up then drowned when it made it under water. The top decks started flooding. It started its way going under faster and faster, people slipped and drowned, some let go. It was going under, only the stern was up. It went under killing trapped people, 2300 died only 500 lived. The Cardboardia company was questioned, then the cardboard company, nobody knew why their ships sank.
The Navel Cardboard of Inquiry Would like to see you . The discussion about the lack of drawn life boats . Also the lack of Lifeboat drills and other Safety Procedures .
This brings back childhood memories of when me and my friends would make boats out of things we found on the ground like sticks and leaves and grass and pinecones and stuff and see who’s lasted the longest. One time mine went past the dock with it’s two passengers Mr. and Mrs. Johns and for all we know it’s still going. There was also a creek that we would bring our collection of plastic boats (Okay there were two sailboats, one jet ski, and a small red motorboat but that’s a collection) we also used ducks because we had at least thirty of those. Then did contests to see who’s would win going down the stream the fastest. We collected those before they made it to the lake obviously though.
Well, at least this one stayed on the surface far longer than the ones that preceded it... however how many Cardboardians surviving was still dependent on how well the lifeboats fared in rough seas.
A few years back I saw this video, and I thought “I make things out of cardboard, I could make that!” And so I did, And I called it the ‘Luisanic’ It was so cool to me back then. I still have it, and thats what made me into ships. And I built many more, they slowly got bigger and better, sadly the Luisanic capsized on its starboard side TWICE during rainstorms, so it is damaged and will probably not sail again.
Backstory-After starting the trip from the west coast to the east coast it encountered Hurricane Mike with 123mph winds the waves were to powerful for the engine so she was at a stand still the hull to on water from Constant waves beating it-hope this is good
It will be rotted away get an empty toilet paper tube and sit that in water see what happens it just breaks apart but if it didn't then a wreck vid would be cool
From everything I've seen, Cardboardia has a real problem on its hands. Someone in the government is getting a kickback--their naval vessels appear just as shoddily built as their civilian ones. Cardboardia Corporation and its subsidiary, Cardboardia Cruise Line are also known for unethical business practices, sailing from U.S. ports under a "flag of convenience" which allows them to hire crew from third world countries and pay them less than $1,000 per month. Crew members are worked 10 hours a day for 10 months at a time, rarely seeing any of the ports to which they sail. They greatly benefit from being US-based, but they pay very little (if anything) in taxes. The Cardboard Majesty disaster could have been avoided, had it not been for hasty construction and a tired, overworked crew.
