I like Quadrophenia. I remember Pete talking about it during a concert from 2015. he mentioned who he was thinking about when he wrote it. With that said, it's Pete Townshend & it's The Who. They're the best in my book... Thanks for the upload...
Pete Townsend great lyricist great musician and songwriter. I do believe what Roger Daltry said he will need to be tied, and dragged off stage before he stops. I bow my head to the new constitution of Roger Daltry and Pete Townsend.
I remember when it came out I was 18 that summer a few weeks before I had taken this girl who was a french exchange student to see clockwork orange in the movie theater it was our first date & we were tripping. It was way too weird. I really dug this girl she was exotic, but it wasnt the film to see tripping. It put a crimp on me making it with her after that The who played the concert with four speakers on the floor that tour. They played the whole LP, I saw one of the few shows they did that. There was problems with the P.A. so they cut the show short in some places. My friend & I stood in the middle of the four speakers. My first Who concert. It was the perfect LP for a 18 year old male in 1973.Rolling Stone & Circus magazines slamd it. It was a fans only album when it came out It was a follow up to Whoś Next so? Until I saw Van Halen in 81 for the first time The Who was the loudest band ever. 120 DB easy

The bottom line is that of all the great rock bands, The Who's catalog sounds like shit. Largely because they recorded all of their albums, besides Who's Next, in crappy, makeshift studios. I know so many Who fans wish Pete would hand over the original master tapes to all of the Who's records to the guys who did The Beatles remasters. For one thing, it would restore the Who's catalog back to the original analog mixes, which is where they belong. The band fucked around with their history by adding massive amounts of echo to Roger's voice on the "Who Are You" album and eliminating the space between "They Are All In Love" and "Blue, Red and Grey" on "The Who By Numbers" album. They screwed with the guitar solo in "Young Man Blues" on "Live At :Leeds." This is screwing around with history - which an artist should never do. We want the original mixes, with original artwork, and zero bonus tracks. And then create a box set for all the other tracks that appeared on "Two's Missing" and other such compilations. But most of all, get those original album master tapes into the hands or people who know what the heck they are doing. The Beatles remasters sound 3x better than they original CD's because they took so much time being faithful to the original tapes and making them sound as great as possible.
The high rez version of Live at Leeds did it right but they never released it to cd. I think it is a combination of crass commercialism with lack of care for the music and bad judgments. There was such a long period where compressed and boosted remastering was the rage. And the results were terrible. And the fan pays a lot for shitty product and suffers.
pete in the zone,a beautiful sight to behold.
My favorite Who album...Quadrophenia...a true masterpiece.
Indeed.
It always give me numerous emotions even now from crying then running round the house doing air guitar. 👍🇬🇧🎤🎼🎸🥇
I could listen to Pete all day ....
I've gone through periods where I've listened to nothing but the Who for weeks at a time.
He's a genius. Simple as that.

Quite a bit of the original album has been changed some of Roger's vocal chops were cut and the mix is a bit different.
