I’m a vocal performance major, and I can tell you that her mix is so balanced now. Back then, she would hit the notes, but a lot of times it would be in head voice and really raspy!! I don’t know. But she seems like a soprano now. Plus her lows aren’t like they were a couple years ago. Her voice is definitely thinning out now.
To me Kim seems closer to a lyric than a mezzo. Her upper register is thinner but her agility to hit certain notes in a clearer tone is more defined. Chick is still a beast on that mic, hands down.

Twinkie usually is the one to take her on in this area. Twinkie is the master of both. She is able to execute excellent tone, agility and power. Her rasp usually appears at and upwards of F5. Dorinda's rasp stays most of the time (her voice wasn't like that when she was younger but i heard her voice ended up like that from heavy preaching.) Twinkie is a master of runs and riffs. She even vocally stutters. Also most people focus on Karen range because she has more upper range. However most people don't realize it but Twinkie and Dorinda can chill at F5 in songs. Also they both have a 6th octave head voice. They also both have reached A5. Twinkie even sung a whole part of a song mostly at G#5. However Twinkie most of her range at the bottom. She’s a damaged lyric soprano. Her vocal range is F3-Bb5-Bb6…yes she also has a whistle register. Nothing really mezzo about her voice at all.
