Just here for the comments. Some reasonable debate and some absolute crackerjacks. Thats way more than a new driver would save me (and cost me more) - I used to pull everything left and have very little confidence with my Scotty but the lab just feels like a point and shoot and worth every penny.

I went back and forth a lot with LAB and in the end I went to a PGA Tour Superstore to get fit. I ended up ordering a sweeper DF3 blue head (light @ 475g I believe), 43.5", 79.5* lie angle, and RR alignment aid. I used the ACCRA shaft during my fitting and it felt so soft but you could tell it was whippy with a heavier head. LAB suggested getting the Gears X shaft at the length I wanted. Have not gotten it yet but I'm really looking forward to using my Baby Broom.

If your new putter is saving you 4-5 shots per round, you were an absolutely miserable putter before and literally any new equipment and practice would’ve improved your game.
I have a TPT in my Mezz Max, getting the Accra in a DF3 for the softer feel. Accra is 140g which is quite stout for a graphite putter shaft. Stability should not be a problem considering Accra is a top tier company. Also, the StrokeLab shaft is 70g and it's won multiple majors and probably hundreds of professional tournaments worldwide.

Spending 500 quid on a putter I wouldn’t chance on the fitting. Having been fitted for a LAB putter I can say it was worth it. There’s a lot to be said for having the putter in your hand and actually using it. I tried the mezz, link and DF3 and brought the DF3 as didn’t like the feel of the link or the mezz. As for the upgrade shaft I couldn’t feel any difference
Seen quite a few comments around remote fitting and getting it done in person. I can't speak on this personally, but if you read the LAB forums, people have done both and have said that the remote fitting always ends up in the same spec. LAB must be very confident in their fitting process to offer this service, otherwise they would end up with half the markrt in incorrectly fitted putters. If you can't get easily enough for a fitting in person or don't want to spend daft money on it, im confident that theremote fitting will be more than enough for you.
I also have a DF3 (been using since release), but I went to Belton Park GC for a fitting. Went for DF3 Blue head standard weight, W alignment aid, Accra Shaft in black, press 1.5 grip, Gaz the Accra shaft is still an upgrade shaft +£100, I would say go for an in person fitting if you are able to. been using the wrong length putter for years. I think you actually made the right decision on shaft Gaz because the really stiff TPT shaft does make it harder to lag putt on slower greens which I found when in person testing on a real outside putting green and typically UK greens are much slower than in the US.
Me too. Shay was excellent. I went with stock as the Accra felt softer to me and i didnt do anything better than with that over the stock. He didnt have the TPT at the time for me to try. My remote fittingcame out the same as the in person too.@davidfletcher6836
When I bought my Costco Callaway edge set, there were a few things that needed changing as I improved such as the driver, but the odyssey putter is more than good enough and I’ve realised it’s down to me to improve my putting. Not convinced a £500 + putter is gonna give me enough of a marginal gain….however, prove me wrong!!
Asad, you’re right, it’s fine margins. There’d a lot of low hanging fruit in golf which will knock strokes off, lessons, practice, using the same ball, and then finally, buying a really good putter like Lab. You need to have grabbed the low hanging fruit first though to justify spending £500+, anybody who hasn’t already, would share your opinion as let’s be honest, no putter is magic, it can’t account for poor distance control, green readying, etc etc
It was interesting to see the comments bout head weight, i bought a standard head weight putter and just couldn't get the ball to the hole, i had no feel for distance control and usually thats a strong point. So the heavier head would have possibly helped with that.
Do you have the DF.3? I own DF.2.1 standard weight and DF.3 heavy weight and my own impression is, that both heads weigh the same. This means: If the standard weight of the DF.2.1 suits you, you have to choose the DF.3 with the heavier weight, compensating the lighter basic weight of the smaller DF.3 head…important to know! Otherwise the standard DF.3 head might be too light
The putter industry is becoming the new PT Barnam for golf. A fool and his money will so be parted. No matter how much putter "technology" advances, putting stats are the same. A good putter can putt just as well with a Wilson Augusta than with a LAB or Scotty. Most golfers have no idea how to read putts, so a well-balanced putter is worthless.
Just because Tiger can drain bombs with a 20 year old Scotty doesn’t mean everyone can. Great putters putt great. Sure, but what’s your point. It’s about people that struggle to present a square face nor the best putters. That’s where this comes in. You could be the best green reader on earth but if you can’t start your putt on your start line you won’t hole putts. Simple. Your old. Your opinion is old. Grow a little old fella.
@dbo4506 people with no facts insult people that do. Being old is irrelevant. Putting stats have not improved. If people have no feel for speed or line, no wonder stick can help. Go ahead and buy all the new gear. You may feel better, but your putting will not improve.
If you can’t putt you can’t putt best putter in world won’t help either. If you can putt, using a cheap putter will work just as well as the most expensive putters.
Yeah, I've thought the same about expensive putters. I'm almost certain that I never missed because of my putter, it was because I misjudged either where to aim or how hard to hit it. But then again placebo effect is very powerful and golf is a lot about confidence. So if a person really believes that a magic putter will help then it might well do.
This just isn't true, you'll always find small gains from something that will help with your numbers. Of course, if putting isn't your thing then you still need to work on technique and green reading.
the light feeling is the zero torque, because it is balanced that way it feels lighter than they are. The std version is heavier than most std putter heads.
That’s interesting! In terms of feel, you would have never guessed that it was heavier than normal putters. I am loving the balance, and going back to a normal putter now is out of the question.
@@garymartingolf the weight you "feel" in a putter is much down to the head wanting to open/close, since the LAB head don't do that, it feels lighter to swing.
I have a mezz with 1.5’ forward press - was struggling with it and went back to my Scotty with a thin grip and realized I was gripping the LAB wrong. So my question is - is there a thinner grip with a 1.5’ degree forward press available? Or do I keep going back to practice with my center shafted Scotty to get the grip and feel right to return to the LAB 🤦🏽♂️
There is not enough technology that will make up for a poor stroke. The technology is good but there isn't enough of difference to say that anyone can tell tht torque difference between any of the zero torque putters . And especially the silly low torque putter shafts. Feel and weight make much more of a difference
I've just seen the price of these putters, for that price i should never ever miss a put from any range. Way way over priced and I don't care what technology is in them .
Yeah, that’s what our sam was saying, it’s good to know if you’re not already aware, as I think some people have been caught out if they’ve not done their research.
Gaz, do you have your putting stats from this year? How many putts per round did you average? Now use your LAB putter this next year and see what your average putts per round is. Just to see if your putts per round dropped. And if there is no significant difference , is the cost worth it?
You need more detail than just putts per round as it doesn't really give a true reflection. In an ideal world you need to measure out each putt and calculate via SG which I know not everyone is going to want to do.
@@danielwarren2355 Let the Tours worry about strokes gained. For virtually everyone else average # of putts per round is the metric to improve. Average putts per round for the PGA Tour is 28.92. My average this season was 30.7 putts based on about 120 rounds. Which means I have 1.78 more putts per round, on average, than the Tour average. Less than 2 putts per round. So my question is, does a new putter--- over time --- really make a significant difference? Fwiw, my handicap is 7. And also, fwiw, I don't use a line on my ball to line up the putt.
@@melabshier5812 if you're happy using this method that's great, but it's not a true reflection of your putting as a whole. It can be massively skwed by other parts of your game and therefore give you a false sense on putting. Personally, if I want to see a true reflection of my putting, then I'm having to log each putt, which isn't ideal but can be worth it for some who want an accurate data set on this part of your game.
I totally get that. It's a lot of money. Fwiw, my remote fitting came out the same as my in person fitting at Belton Park with Shay Brennan. Scottsdale Warrington are supposed to be very good and you may be able to get the putter on the day too.
Yeah lets spend 800 quid plus to muss a putt.......rather negative i guess......but if you go full custom it could be £1800 quid again to miss a putt.....in my book thats fine if you can afford IT !!!! ❤
As. These putters are all bespoke, what on earth is going to happen to all these putters once the fad is over, and the next air brained ideas come out. I still putt with a hickory shaft blade from 1904, putts beautifully.
My best putter was a slazenger, if you can putt u can putt, personally I think your going to much technical, and mashing up yer heeds, go out hit the ball play golf.
Putting is probably the strongest part of my game and you're correct in theory I feel like I can putt with anything. But when you actually dog down into the numbers and data, a properly suited fitted putter for you overtime is going to save you shots, that's just a fact.
This aged well, I love it to I don’t like it I made a mistake, so you custom design it and you hate it? Come on lad can’t BS a BS’er or you’ve done it for clicks

I wouldn't get hooked up on what you believe is wrong The feel and sound are subjective and we're giving our thoughts on this, if you do enough reading you'll realise that not everyone has the same opinion 100% of the time. As we say, the difference in this test on this day was really negligible and we need to use them properly to go more in-depth.
I’m not deliberately trying to be controversial but I have an issue with anyone be that manufacturer or Utuber who uses the term “the best”. LAB putters ARE NO BETTER than a Scotty, an Odyssey a Wilson 8802 blade or whatever. If it is the best for you then it is the best (for you). Each have different characteristics which either suit or not the individual. None are better than the other, just different.
I get what you’re saying, and there’s no way to justify why someone uses such strong words, I just think it’s because they’re impressed with the product and they don’t mean what they’re saying, they’re just trying to express its good, rather than the best.

Toe up tech putters isn't Lab Putter contribution to golf.. edel golf has been doing it years before Lab. Lab got lucky from influencers then PGA pro's made them popular.. just like Scotty's clone of ping, Lab doing the same, aside from the mad ugly designs.
Sorry that head design just looks horrid to me, I’ve always used a blade putter and a lot of mallet type heads I would just look down and the look of it would put me off.
All three of you seriously need a putting lesson, you never set up to putt feet first and then set putter behind ball, all three of you toe the heck out of every putt and that’s because you are reaching for the ball. Place putter behind ball and then step in with your feet.

I then picked up a putter for the first time which wasn't my spec and felt a little different to mine and you're right I didn't hole any of the three putts, but again, I'm not looking to hole everyone onez from that distance im taking the two putt. I think you actually made the right decision on shaft Gaz because the really stiff TPT shaft does make it harder to lag putt on slower greens which I found when in person testing on a real outside putting green and typically UK greens are much slower than in the US.
Got mine from there , the experience with Shay was really good
Me too. Shay was excellent. I went with stock as the Accra felt softer to me and i didnt do anything better than with that over the stock. He didnt have the TPT at the time for me to try. My remote fittingcame out the same as the in person too.@davidfletcher6836
Well done gaz 😊
Can you get a discount code for subscribers? I’ve just checked prices and in my case it’d need to be about 80% off 😂
Haha lol 😂 I wish I could get you a discount code, but they don’t do it lol
Guerin Rife worked for Top Flite in early 90s. Those putters are awesome and go for $25.
I've read this a lot from people who didn't go with the heavier head.
Good thing the LAB is so forgiving with all those toe strikes.
Absolutely!
Exactly!!
If you can't drive you can't drive, best driver in the world won't help either. A cheap driver will work just as well as the most expensive drivers.
This just isn't true, you'll always find small gains from something that will help with your numbers. Of course, if putting isn't your thing then you still need to work on technique and green reading.
@@MrRobbo4444 I don't know it feels like there's a bit more going on with a driver.
Does anyone make a lie angle balanced / zero torque driver?
lol 😂
the light feeling is the zero torque, because it is balanced that way it feels lighter than they are. The std version is heavier than most std putter heads.
That’s interesting! In terms of feel, you would have never guessed that it was heavier than normal putters. I am loving the balance, and going back to a normal putter now is out of the question.
@@garymartingolf same for me, I improved from 15 hcp to 9 this past season, and I tribute 90% of that to the df3 and 10% me ;)
@@garymartingolf the weight you "feel" in a putter is much down to the head wanting to open/close, since the LAB head don't do that, it feels lighter to swing.
I hope that when SC comes out with one that everyone will have a lab or other brand so I can actually buy one without waiting for a year.
lol 😂
Having watched your six putts, I see no threat to my Golden Goose. 😉
lol 😂
I've just seen the price of these putters, for that price i should never ever miss a put from any range. Way way over priced and I don't care what technology is in them .
Putting i think is 75% between the ears, know the pace & line first maybe, that save you time & money.
Sam Hahn has said " the putter feels lighter because you don't feel the torque throughout the stroke ".
L.a.b is way forward in regards to putting 👍
Yeah, that’s what our sam was saying, it’s good to know if you’re not already aware, as I think some people have been caught out if they’ve not done their research.
@garymartingolf I have a l.a.b broom. Taken 5 strokes off my putting stats. Unreal !
Hurry up and make my putter LAB!!!!!!
700 dollar putter and it does a great job of only making 1 out of 12 putts. my current putter is better than that and it didnt cost anywhere near 700.
Just trying to find a reputable fitter, not sure I'm comfortable with spending close to £600 for an on-line fit.
Try Guy Wills at Fulford golf club in York. That’s where I got my Mezz.
I totally get that. It's a lot of money. Fwiw, my remote fitting came out the same as my in person fitting at Belton Park with Shay Brennan. Scottsdale Warrington are supposed to be very good and you may be able to get the putter on the day too.
No no no no mad prices absolutely ludicrous lads ...all putters work its you at the emd of the day also no one practices putting
Ill never be convinced a putter shaft makes ANY significant difference.
The upgrade shaft did nothing for me in a fitting felt no different at all certainly not an extra 200 quid
@ yeah that’s an insane upgrade.
Yeah lets spend 800 quid plus to muss a putt.......rather negative i guess......but if you go full custom it could be £1800 quid again to miss a putt.....in my book thats fine if you can afford IT !!!! ❤
id be curious how the lie angle is calculated. When i was fit for my lab i was fit into 69 degrees. Im 5’10. you guys were all fit much higher.
What length did you get?
@@Belbivdevoe 34inch
As. These putters are all bespoke, what on earth is going to happen to all these putters once the fad is over, and the next air brained ideas come out. I still putt with a hickory shaft blade from 1904, putts beautifully.
For that money, I want a magic wand, with an upgraded shaft what looks better value, a putter or a years membership 🤔
Lab putters are great but very hard for normal working class people to justify the price
Boy it was painful watching them putts!
It’s not painful anymore! 😂
It is not difficult to upset him. Never come across a more arrogant person dealing with customers.
Meh. I’ve been called worse 😂

This aged well, I love it to I don’t like it I made a mistake, so you custom design it and you hate it? Come on lad can’t BS a BS’er or you’ve done it for clicks
I 100% say it how it is, if you don’t like it, go and watch a brand commercial.
@ calm down lad I say what I see, can’t handle negativity maybe RUclips ain’t for you
@@Subjectivetattoo I am calm, all I’m saying is, if you don’t value my opinion, and you think I talk BS, there’s plenty of others to watch.
I’ve put the people before the brands from the start, so I’m not bothered if I don’t fit into any fan boys narrative. I’m not saying that’s you, but that’s usually where negative comments stem from.
@ I watch a lot of smaller RUclipsrs fella I’m not a fan boy of anyone, just went off what I watched mate.
SO many wrongs in this clip. jesus guys... TPT is the most responsive and stiffest, Accra is alot softer.
I wouldn't get hooked up on what you believe is wrong
The feel and sound are subjective and we're giving our thoughts on this, if you do enough reading you'll realise that not everyone has the same opinion 100% of the time.
How’d you anger him? Did you call him out for passing off a patent purchase as an independent invention? Sam has literally never created anything new in his career, he simply bought up the rights.
I actually partnered with Bill. Didn’t buy any rights. The invention is no doubt profound! It’s been an incredible opportunity to bring it to the golfing world. Watch the video. They didn’t actually piss me off. PXG did though!😂
Toe up tech putters isn't Lab Putter contribution to golf.. edel golf has been doing it years before Lab. Lab got lucky from influencers then PGA pro's made them popular.. just like Scotty's clone of ping, Lab doing the same, aside from the mad ugly designs.
There’s quite a difference between toe up putters and what we do. Have you had a chance to try one?
Sorry that head design just looks horrid to me, I’ve always used a blade putter and a lot of mallet type heads I would just look down and the look of it would put me off.
All three of you seriously need a putting lesson, you never set up to putt feet first and then set putter behind ball, all three of you toe the heck out of every putt and that’s because you are reaching for the ball. Place putter behind ball and then step in with your feet.
Thanks for the advice coach.
However, I'm going to stick with what my actual coach says.
@ I was a class A PGA golf pro for over 15 years, I’m still a scratch golfer. You do you but you will never be a good putter if you don’t fix your set up.
@@cutterwisetitan8571 whilst I'm not niave enough to think that my putting can't get better, you're naive enough to think that you know my game and surroundings.
Putting is the strongest part of my game by a mile, I'm sad enough that I'm driven by data and also sad enough that in the past, to walk every putt out and log the distance etc which means I have a good take on what level my putting is out when working off SG etc. whilst I'm not pro, my putting stats do suggest that I'm equal to that of a scratch golfer.
I've also been working with my coach for 2 years at the Pete cowen academy, and in that time we have only done one putting lesson in which we didn't want to change much at all given the data SAM Labs was telling us and the data from that off the course.
I do appreciate the feedback, it's always good to hear the opinions and views of others, even if you don't agree with them.
That guy in the white cap almost missed the entire ball... Thats horrendous.
You’re putting on a perfect putting mat and only made 1 out of 12 putts including some awful ones.A 20 handicapper using a 30yr old ping answer 2 would easily produce the same results. All this before you include worm casts and uneven greens. What a gimmick and a waste of money
I've seen some uneducated comments in my time, but this is right up there 😂
@@danielwarren2355and you base that on what?how many putts were holed? Was that not on an indoor putting mat? Check the putting stats for the pro’s who are now using lab putters, have they improved significantly? Lastly how long have I played golf, what’s my handicap and what is my profession? Guess what I’m far more educated than you think🤡
@@Ian-l6tshall I tell you what I'm basing it off
You don't know the length of that putt, if you did you would know that a tour pro would only make that putt 18% of the time. Given I hit 3 putts with my own putter, holed 1 of them and had taps in with the other 2 I wouldn't class them as awful. I then picked up a putter for the first time which wasn't my spec and felt a little different to mine and you're right I didn't hole any of the three putts, but again, I'm not looking to hole everyone onez from that distance im taking the two putt.
When you say check the stats for the pros using them now, if they are gimmicks then why are the tour pros even using them? As I'm sure you're aware, on RUclips and the tour it's one of the fastest rising putters on the market
Lucas Glover: Used the L.A.B. Golf MEZZ 1 putter to win the 2023 Tour Championship
Charles Howell III: Used the L.A.B. Golf Link.1 putter to win the LIV Golf Mayakoba even
Wesley Bryan is playing some of the best golf of his career with one and if you watched any of their videos you would see how much of a gimmick they are.
Your last statement on believing a 30 year ping putter would do the same job is just ludicrous and shows how out of touch you are.
Wannabe artist are incorrigible at best. It rolls the ball it’s a putter. The revealer is bunk . A putter has hands on it. It’s not swinging INT fast enough for moi to really twist a face offline. If it was that much better everyone on your would use one. I went down the rabbit hole and now I putt relatively conventional after seeing utley, I’m in a different style but no crazy non sense . You’re an idiot if you are willing to spend 1k$ on a putter but are unwilling to seek out help to actually improve your technique. That’s like putting a bandaid on a gunshot wound.
