This one takes me back to the days of Saturday morning cartoons and taking turns with my big sister watching various shows. Honestly Saved by the Bell was my sisters pick but it grew on me and I would later find myself watching it on my own. Anyways Mark-Paul Gosselaar talks about his time as Zack Morris and other roles, plus his podcast and his transition to being a director.
It's hard to believe that Saved By The Bell The College Years only lasted one season. I remember watching that, and in my memory, it seemed longer. I can even remember the theme song.
maybe cause it has the word "years" in the title, it's misleading
I still wonder how hes not a bigger star. To hear he still has to audition for stuff is crazy to me.
He was a regular for 5 years on the successful NYPD Blue, playing Detective John Clark.
Hollywood is a more conservative place where it doesn't care how liberated you are by a certain actor that inspires you or makes you feel alive lol
Of course he has to audition. However i think his relationship to acting is very method; only he does it for potentially popular tv shows/sitcoms and it's kind of unexpected and maybe not advertised this way. And of course many were short- lived. Maybe if he ended up in a Netflix or Amazon Prime mini-series, he could finally blow up. What's sure is he's a serious actor.

I got to meet him at an expo in April. He is such sweet. Very quiet, but very sweet. I grew up with saved by the bell. I was hyperventilating lol. 😂❤
I don't care. I still love him. I hope his next projects stick.

The reboot didn't bring back the OG characters. Oh, but they did bring back the OG cast. Seriously. The OG cast is a parody. It's interesting to see them, but they just aren't anything similar. It'd be real hard for others to agree to admit that Zack Morris was more mature and aware in the OG show than today's more woke iteration.

I heard a fan theory in Saved by the bell the next class show that Screech becomes the Principal eventually after he was hired as assistant to Principal Belding.

I think they should do a reboot Cobra Kai style. The twist being that the others felt Zack had bullied and tormented them in school (getting inspired from the Zack Morris is trash videos)
Mark you shouldn’t be trashing your character zack! He was a cool character and many wanted to be like him. He usually grew with some of his stuff he tried to do. That guy is a moron who trashes him.

I find it hard to believe this is his natural hair color because it's too broody like to be natural for him. Like maybe a lighter brownish color but this has to be dye.

Imagine this dudes life. He's a legit actor, has the look etc. but the business decides "nah ur Zach Morris. Too typecast u will never be anything else". They get underpaid, and he has to fight and claw for every trivial role he has ever had. He can't go be a regular person cuz he's fkng Zach Morris lol.
Remember, he accepted this role as a child, with likely no say in the matter, and no concept of how this would hang over him for the rest of his life. Meanwhile Dicaprio is on growing pains and becomes the biggest star on the planet. Why do you think Elizabeth Berkley did a soft core porn movie right after lol, they were desperate to show they were more than SBTB
The dude is like 45, with kids and he's still showing up to these things and being a pro. He does the podcast (with the literal guy who wrote Zach Morris is trash lol), it was his idea to do the Fallon thing, he has clearly tried to make peace with it all and poke fun at himself.
He is cordial and deferential to these (sometimes weird) people who worship this goofy 30 year old show that both gave him AND sort of ruined his career. He acknowledges the terrible offensive stuff on the old show and he's even doing a damn reboot of this thing for the fans.

@@darnellmajor9016 I think the Zach Morris Character was just too much of a pop culture reference. DiCaprios Character wasn't as central, or popular, or iconic. He was able to transcend the role much easier. I can't even remember his characters name, meanwhile Zach Morris was a household name particularly in the 90s. This dude is a good actor honestly, he's gotten a LOT better over the years. Dicaprio may have been a better actor at the time, but mostly it was just hard to see him as anything other than Zach Morris for people. Best he could get was Deadman on campus afterwards lol. I'm sure he would have loved to land Gilbert Grape, or Basketball diaries etc. No way they were gonna cast Zach Morris in those rolls though haha
a lot of the people who attend these events are autistic so it's a bit rude to say dork events
