  • Richard Pendlebury and Jamie Wiseman report from the Arctic war in eastern Ukraine, where the daily artillery barrages are accompanied by sub-zero temperatures, frostbite and pneumonia. They visit Thunder company, of which only 26 original soldiers remain out of the 126 who were deployed to the front. It is a deadly game of forest hide and seek.

The weapon he is showing at 9:30 was not retired in Sweden in 1965. I used it during my own miltary service and I was born in 1961... I don't know when we stopped using them, but they were used way into the 80's, for sure. For certain kinds of close combat, it is a very capable gun. It is extremely simple and reliable. At 100 m it is quite accurate as well. It is a 9mm parabellum gun, so it doesn't pack the greatest punch, though. I'm not saying this diminish their hardships or lack of equipment, but fact are facts.

With that round loaded and the 36 round magazine no russian would be happy hit at trench distances. Body armour? The round easily penetrate "normal" pistol safe armour. And one just aim for the crouch or the face anyway. Any more reason to pick a m/45? It is silly tolerant to dirt, snow and sand. Obsolescence do not mean useless.
So I'd like to know what round they feed this SMG with. That is the main issue with an SMG.

The sad part for me is the EU and the US starting to lose interest and not caring who wins. The best case scenario for the Ukrainians is that they will go back to the Donbass scenario of holding the line indefinitely or until, after a few years, Russia has replaced its losses and has another go. If we'd just been honest and said ' we'll help you not get overrun and after that it's your problem' rather than 'we'll help until you win', they would not have got their hopes so high only to be (apparently) let down. There's a familiar pattern to western led wars in recent decades: we go charging in all guns blazing right up to the point it becomes a difficult protracted conflict and then literally run away, leaving chaos in our wake (Afghanistan, Iraq). It sets a bad example and (imho) encourages players to take action. China has noticed this and so, obviously, has Russia.

This was a propaganda fluff piece focussing on human interest, no wonder since it is a channel by a tabloid newspaper.
Seriously, I sincerely suggest you watch some other content from creators (and translators) with military background who know what they are talking about. After a few minutes, they say "AR-15 assault rifle". Which it is not. It is the semi-automatic knock-off of the American M-16, which indeed has a fully auto firing mode. They were still being used in the Falklands War in 1982 in the British Army. The rifle was so Powerful, at high velocity 2,800 ft per second rounds.
It could go through 10 men at 100 yds. And range out to 1,800 Metres.
NOW New Body Armor came Out the Stupid Idiots, then bring out a Cheep Plastic S80 Rifle, small 5mm round, low velocity. range of Only 600 Metres. Couldn't go Through Butter.
Anyone with a FN FAL with a Scope, could range Out and Kill them, from nearly 2 miles away.
The British sold the Tooling for making the Rifle, to America, an Arms Company still make the FN FAL Rifle with a Rail for a Sniper Scope, and a folding stock.
It was called The Battle Rifle of the Free World - Used in 90 Country's.
In comparison, the AK47 only has a case length of 31 mm.
Less speed and range. Not as accurate.
CHECK THAT YOU AREN'T TALKING ABOUT A DIFFERENT GPMG MODEL WITH A SMALLER DIFFERENT ROUND?
The Bren Gun also used the same round. - With a 60 round upper curved magazine. Now Stopped making them.

To only 800 rounds per minute!

This soldier had dismembered limbs, if they had shown it unblurred, youtube would have blocked the video and place a strike against the channel. It's the same as showing real life nudity of any sort, it gets blocked and a strike placed on the channel. Take your complaint to RUclips management, not the channel.

As much money as we’ve sent over there just from the US alone should be enough to fully outfit idk how many thousands of soldiers. I heard a Brit born volunteer speak about how Trucks loaded with all brand new US kit.. everything an infantryman needed on his person and even new M-4 rifles crates of ammo and all just before being moved much closer to the front.. they tried to take the new weapons and other goodies as they had not a gun amongst the platoon he was in or any of the platoons making up this group.. they were told they’d get them when they got where they were going.. I bet anyone reading has guessed already.. yep it all disappeared magically in a country with check points everywhere especially back when this happened near the beginning of the war. He said things were like that a lot but nothing near the insanity of fealty and squaller left behind anywhere his people got to see after being recaptured by Ukrainian troops. Ukrainian people seem great but they have been allowing such corruption go unpunished for so long it beggars belief. Now the US is fast tracking our modernization programs to catch up to the highest levels of corruption amongst politicians and bureaucrats than anywhere on Earth. Makes me wonder at times.

That M45 Karl Gustav is a machine pistol. It's more for police or security details. I believe it's chambered in 9 x 19 parabellum, so for short distances it's ok, light and not too accurate. But to shoot across a field at somebody 200 meters away, you're just guessing, with such a rate of drop for that round, you might have to aim over their heads like trying to guess it's ballistic arc. I wouldn't even bother at that range. It's probably on viable clearing trenches where your enemy is 20 feet away.
